From comedy to music, from contemporary and classical. Highlights of our season include the Off-Broadway Spectacular ‘Lennon – Through a Glass Onion’ a real coupe for the theatre, also the moving and mercurial ‘New Dawn Fades’ a musical play about Joy Division and the city that spawned them, to Paul Carroll’s brilliantly camp ‘Music Hall Tavern’ and even ‘The Dreamboys’, we really do have something for everybody in the coming months. After retiring from professional football, Gascoigne’s life became dominated by emotional problems, including alcoholism. His personal struggles have received regular coverage in the British press. This unique production places the band within the context of Manchester’s history as a city, setting the scene for a completely new and fascinating look at the Joy Division story. The legendary Anthony H Wilson guides audiences through the heart and soul of both the band, and of Manchester, interviewing an array of historical figures along the way from Karl Marx to the Buzzcocks. The result is a spellbinding tale of love, passion, progress, grief, and of course music. For many years Ruby Turner has been regarded as having one of the greatest voices the UK has ever produced. Ruby can breathe life and meaning into a song whether it is a passionate soaring ballad or a soulful up-tempo groove. Her career to date has been sensational with major tours, film, TV and theatre appearances. Born in Jamaica, Ruby moved to England when she was nine and her major break came when she was taken under the wings of British blues legend, the late Alexis Korner. A very prolific songwriter, many of Ruby’s songs have been covered by artists such as Lulu, Yazz and Maxi Priest, while her vocal prowess has been employed to good effect by Brian Ferry, Mick Jagger, Steve Winwood, and Jools Holland. Described as truly the genuine article and blessed with a voice that has been likened to Aretha Franklin and Janis Joplin, Ruby continues to win the hearts and minds of an ever growing and diverse fan base.

RESTORATION LEVY As the Epstein Theatre we pride ourselves on our prestigious venue and constantly aim to enhance audience experience. We aim to deliver a high level of service and want to restore and improve Liverpool’s hidden gem of a theatre. As a non-funded organisation a restoration levy is now in place to enable us to carry out the continuous work needed on our 102 year old space. The charge of 50p per ticket, has been implemented to protect the theatre’s future. Orginally opened as Cranes Music Hall in 1913, later renamed Cranes Theatre before becoming the popular Neptune Theatre in 1967, open until 2005. After undergoing a £1million refurbishment in 2011 The Epstein Theatre, in honour of former Beatles Manager Brian Epstein, the theatre is now one of Liverpool’s favourite venue, right in the heart of the City Centre. 2013 saw the theatre celebrate its centenary birthday, as we look forward to the next 100 years we want to maintain the exceptional features you have come to love from the theatre in the sky!
