Vickie Magic is raising funds

Below are three great apps for your iPad (or smartphone)

1. Hootsuite – social media

management scheduler

As many business professionals and owners would understand, the busyness of each of their days often leaves little time to do simple things such as a load of washing, let alone maintaining a regular, strong social media stream across the diversity of social media platforms such as Facebook, Google +, Twitter and LinkedIn. However, they still understand the importance of keeping a regular presence on these sites.

Hootsuite, a social media management scheduler, allows the function of scheduling posts to as many social media websites/accounts as you wish in the single click of a button, allowing you to schedule one post or week’s worth of posts, so you don’t have to frantically remember to post every day. At BM, we use Hootsuite to schedule our posts at the times we know get the most reach, to all our Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook networks. This allows ease of mind so that we don’t have to use extra time on social media every day.

2. Dropbox–file sharing for business

Dropbox is the go-to software for sharing your photos, documents, videos and files. What makes Dropbox so convenient for personal and business use is once you save something to Dropbox, it will show up on all your computers, phones and on the Dropbox website, so you can access your files anywhere.

In addition, sharing files with friends and family or business partners is just as easy with the click of a button. At BM, we use Dropbox to share files between each other in the office as well as to our designer who works from home, as it allows quick access and we don’t have to refresh our email every two minutes waiting for large documents to send/receive.

3. Audionote - combines note-taking and voice recording software

Audionote is an app available on Android and Apple which allows for synchronised note taking and audio recording. Do you ever sit in an important meeting with most of the information going in one ear and straight out the other? You can record your meetings, lectures, classes and interviews and synchronise your notes and audio. The combined features of note taking and audio recording create a tool that saves time, whilst also increasing the quality of notes.

During the playback of audio, text and drawings will be highlighted to help you remember the context in which they were taken. You can also tap the notes to seek in the audio, allowing you to instantly hear what you want to.

VICKIE MAGIC SHAVES HER HEAD FOR A CAUSE

By Vickie Magic

On Sunday the 28th of September, I have a plan to shave my head to raise money for two causes. This fundraising event will be an afternoon event starting at 4pm. You are invited, can you come? More details on my cause page at www.unityaid.com.

The first cause is for my brother in law who has cancer. He and his wife have three wonderful children, but he has been the home carer for their little one who has the rare Rubinstein Taybl Syndrome and hasn’t been well most of her life. He now has cancer and I have a goal to raise as much money as possible for the family to make things a little easier for them. They don’t want me to draw attention to just them so I am not naming them or showing pictures or videos.

The second cause I want to raise money for is The Cancer Council Queensland. Lots of people raise money for Breast Cancer and for Leukemia, which of course are equally important, however, I thought I would like to raise money for Cancer Research, to help find a cure.

The council says, “Medical research has successfully beaten most disease – it will beat cancer.” Cancer Council Queensland raises funds which are dedicated to eliminating cancer and diminishing suffering from cancer through Research, Treatment, Patient Care, Prevention and Early Detection.

One in two Queenslanders will be diagnosed with cancer before the age of 85. Unfortunately, we all know someone who has been affected by cancer.

During the whole month of September I want to encourage you to host a dinner party in your house. There are two options for the dinners. The first is that you cook for it. You invite six or seven people to host a dinner party for eight. The plan is that your guest each pays $55 to attend and that two people host the dinner (with their hundred and ten dollars going towards the food). The second option is that we provide you with a chef for the dinner party, he brings all the food and cooks at your house, you just invite a total of eight people. The chef is Santos from Talking Turkey www.talkingturkey.com.au. Santos has agreed to do these events for cost price so that the money raised can go to the cause. In both cases you simply contact me vmagic@ bmmag.com.au to let me know you want to hold a dinner party, we can organise a date in September and then set you up as a reward on our Unityaid fundraiser page, we then send your guests to that page and ask your guest to choose the $55 or $70 dinner party reward.

Take a look you will see there are other rewards you can choose as well. Of course you can just donate, plus we have a plan for even more events. These will be updated on our Business Matters Facebook page as well. Business Matters Magazine Sunshine Coast.

One dollar at a time, we can all make a difference.
