Pat and Petrina Ryan don’t just build houses; they build dreams, aspirations, memories and relationships.

That is at the core of what we do.”

The subtle difference between Ryan Designer Homes and project builders is something Pat and Petrina realised soon after to moving to Australia from New Zealand in 1999, and it’s a real point of difference. “We had all these standard plans, but we were not comfortable delivering them to people because they didn’t really meet their needs or simply were not suitable for their land,” Pat says. “When you build a house, it should meet all your needs. We Design and Build to negate the negatives and highlight the positives of the block along with considering how the house looks, but also how it feels when looking out. One of the many considerations is ensuring the home receives plenty of light and sun in winter.” It’s when details like that are overlooked that it is a house, not a home. Light is essential to feeling good. “With renovations, the options are varied. As an example, if a house has good bones, that is the floorplan and design works, it can be adapted over time to suit the owner’s needs. However, houses lacking the good bones often end up being bulldozed and rebuilt, as the cost to renovate becomes uneconomic,” Pat says.

Pat and Petrina do business well. They listen to their clients and to the industry and they just keep learning. In just the same way they refuse to get too big, because they don’t want to lose that connection, that integrity.
