ABOUT ME


My name is Matthew George Simpson and I’m currently a Gold Coast based graphic designer. I have recently graduated from Queensland College of Art and Griffith University with a Bachelor of Business and a Bachelor of Digital Media, majoring in Marketing and Graphic Design. I love being able to express my create visions through my work, which has lead me to where I am today. I’ve been known for my bold corporate image but that hasn’t stopped me from exploring outside of my style. Currently I create brand packages and print media for the most part, but I’m keen to explore anything design related. BRANDING Lumji Decor / 2016 This university based project brief was to produce a product, create the branding and market the product to a chosen target consumer. Lumji Decor was born and it was my first real experience in carrying a brand from the beginning to delivery. As you can see I began to fall in love with bold imagery and the odd spot of colour.







BRANDING Currumbin Copy Centre / 2014 Currumbin Copy Centre approached the design students at Griffith with a need for a rebrand. The brief was simple: corporate, blue & purple.





BRANDING Vital Tea / 2014 For this assignment, the brief was to create a brand and packaging for a current or new tea company. For Vital Tea to reach into new markets, I envisioned an identity targeted at “the average white girl�, with products sure to be instagram-worthy.



BRANDING Ampire Fitness / 2015 The owner of Ampire was looking for an image that was simple, void of colour and made an emphasis on skin & body.



BRANDING People Of Griffith / 2014 A competition was held on the People of Griffith facebook page for a new logo. My logo was chosen by popular vote and has remained part of the imagery for the page since.



LAYOUT Animal Welfare League / 2016 I volunteered for AWLQ’s business team in October 2016 to produce print media for upcoming events.



LAYOUT GETAMUNGSTIT / 2017 The student magazine for Griffith is produced at Liveworm Studio Gold Coast. For me, this internship really cemented for me the love I have for graphic design and print media in particular.



LAYOUT TEMPT Magazine / 2014 “Free reign” - The university project brief was simple. Create a magazine of your choosing.



LAYOUT David Carson Homage / 2014 Carson’s work has always intrigued me from first learning about his work in a grade 10 art class. This coffee table book is a homage to his ability to disrupt the design realm, but remain somewhat legible. Typeface by myself and Olivia Beshmen.
