Our school and youth hostel
Secondary Technical School of Civil Engineering. Our school is boarding school. Most of us are boarders. There are 4 grades and 9 classes. Approximately, 190 students attend our school at the age from 15-19 who are Slovaks and Hungarians. Everey grade has a Slovak and Hungarian class. We are the students of III.B. (Bálint) Where is your school located ? Our school is in Hurbanovo, in the south-west of Slovakia. Hurbanovo is situated close to Slovak-Hungarian frontier and belongs to the district Komárno which lies onn the banks of the River Danube. Hurbanovo is famous for brewery Zlatý bažant. (Bálint) Colud you describe your school ? The school building has 3 sections A,B, where our classroom is and section C, which is separated and far away from the former ones about 200m. Also our gym is separated, which provides fitness centre, running lap and an area where is a pavilon and fireplace. It provides picinic and barbecue facilities. The building sections A,B are two-story building. There is a headmaster and deputy head cabinet and teachers´staff room in the A section. Our cloakrooms and buffet are in the basement. At breaks we meet each other, surf the net and have snack there.(Viki F.)

Could you talk about the school life ? We start school at 8.05 am. and have 6 -8 lessons every day. Generally, we finish at about 2.00-3.15. pm. Our favourite subjects are construction graphics and training, English and maths. We have obligatory subjects as Hungarian, Slovak, Physics or Architecture and optional, mainly vocational subjects as Interior design, Overland construction or Hydrology. Besides shorter breaks we have longer break for dinner which is provided in the school canteen. We have autumn, winter or Christmas holidays and Easter holiday as well. The school starts in September and finishes in June. The school year is divided into 2 halves, so we get twice the school report, in January and in June. In October and March we go on an excursion and in May we do 2-week long vocational training. At 3rd grade students participate in geodetic training Could you tell how your school is equipped? There are 4 fully equpped multi-functional classrooms which provide computers, projector and interactive whiteboard on the ground floor. Every classroom is equipped with projector and whiteboard. There is a library on the second floor in the A section and language lab on the same floor in B section. There is an upgraded fully equipped geodetic classroom on the ground floor in the B section. We have two drawing rooms with large graphic boards in the basement and special workshop classrooms in the C section. (Levi)
which lasts for a week. There are a lot of after schools clubs, especially we are keen on sports Also we participate in lot of charity activities. The best festival is Student Day, which is organised in November. (Levi, Nikollet, Viki F.)
Our hostel Where´s the hostel, is it joined to the school? No, it isn´t. The hostel is separated and close to the school canteen. (Marika, Angi) Can you describe the hostel? It is four-story building. Every floor has 10 room, some of them twin, triple, single rooms or room with 4 beds. We have a library on the first floor a fitness room on the third floor and drawing rooms and study rooms on every floor except third one. (Marika, Angi) How many students are in the hostel? 96 students who are divided into three groups. Each group i sled by an educator. How do you spend your time in the hostel ? When we get back fom school, about at 3.00 pm. We have little spare time to relax. At 4.30 pm. we start doing our homework and then we have supper. After suppe we can do sports, go out, socialise and watch TV. All floors of the hostel provide the Internet access. We go to bed at 9.30 pm. (Marti)

School and hostel are provided the Internet assess (WIFI).
