Investor’s Guide Foreign homeowners are eligible for a Mauritian residence permit on purchase of a real estate property, under the IRS, RES or PDS programs exceeding a cost price of USD 500,000. The spouse and children (under 24) of the new home owner are also eligible for residency. An unmarried partner will not qualify for residency, but will be entitled to a renewable residence permit on a yearly basis. The permit allows the resident to apply for an occupation permit to work or start a business in Mauritius, and offers: • A favourable tax regime: Mauritius has Double Taxation Agreements (DTA) with 33 countries including South Africa. • Individuals and corporate entities are taxed at a flat rate of only 15%. • There is no Capital Gains Tax, no dividends tax and Mauritian authorities do not require any Estate Duty should an owner pass away. • A strong banking sector, international business & financial hub.
