Equipe Rapide Autocross Series: Cup 3 & 4

by Mark

The Autocross Season is in full swing already this year. This will update you on Event 3, the double header in Oklahoma and the Mirrorcross event double header coming up back in Oklahoma June 3. Both Oklahoma events are double headers. Course maps for most of these are attached. Event three was at Burleson High School where we had 97 participants and a wet event for the morning runs, drying mid-day and dry in the afternoon. This is a traditional smaller lot more like the roots of autocross.

Event 4 was part of a double-header weekend with SCCA at the Frederick, Oklahoma Site. This WW2 airfield is still an active airport but we had access to almost all the aircraft parking areas to set up courses much like what competitors find at the top National Championship autocross events. Our Group did the Saturday Event with 59 entries and SCCA did the Sunday event with 67 entries. It was forecast to be a rainy weekend which scared off some, but only rained Saturday until about noon.

The next event will be a Mirrorcross back in Oklahoma with dual courses and drag race style starts on June 3rd. Oklahoma SCCA will be running a single course event on Sunday the 4th to make this another double header weekend.

The Mayor of Frederick and people all over the area are involved in bringing these events to this site making it a worthwhile trip. It is less than 200 miles for most DFW participants.
