Well, spring has done its thing and now summer appears to be upon us. I have ingeniously skipped spring cleaning to take advantage of the cooler weather to take drives instead. So friends, it looks like I’ve signed up for summer projects in the heat. Was it worth it? Ask me in August. But the thought of cleaning and refreshing is our theme today.

While I wait for my figurative ship to come in, many of you are waiting for your literal ships to come in with your shiny new playthings. Or necessary work things, sorry. In any case, it seems to be the season of refreshment and renewal. New cars keep showing up like Christmas at Mav events. It’s got me thinking. Are you like me with a hoarder mentality, keeping everything you’ve ever touched? Or do you like to mix up the fleet every so often? I suspect it could be like ripping off a bandage and get easier each time, but the thought of parting with anything is still challenging. How many times have you heard someone say “I wish I hadn’t sold that one.”? How do you know this one won’t be that one? It’s enough to keep you up at night, isn’t it? On the other hand, having something new has a certain appeal. Think of the modifications! So many fun boxes to receive. New buttons to configure, and the new car smell. It does sound appealing. If you’ve ever visited the configurator, and let’s be honest who hasn’t, you’ve likely been tempted to hit the “buy now” button. Maybe this is the year? Actually it will be next year at this point, all the more reason to get serious. I’m putting in some overtime just in case.

Of course, it doesn’t have to be new, new. I swing to the oldies and prefer sweating in the summer remember? It is still possible to get a good value out there in the used market despite what you’ve heard. Just remember, if you’ve gotten something new and just want to give rides, I’m always available. Enjoy the Drive.
