EMD’S MESSAGE EMD’s message from Peter Jensen-Muir
Welcome to the 2023 mid-year edition of Team Talk.
I would like to start with an Acknowledgement of Country. I am writing this from my home on the Sunshine Coast of Queensland, Australia, which is on the lands of the Kabi Kabi and the Jinibara peoples.

Cummins acknowledges the Traditional Owners of Country throughout Australia and we pay our respects to Elders past and present. To learn more about reconciliation or Acknowledgment of Country go to www.reconciliation.org.au.
It’s been a challenging and successful first half of 2023 even though we continue to see cost escalations impacting on our business, our customers and the broader community. Labour shortages, especially for diesel technicians, continue to create challenges in supporting our customers.
On behalf of the Asia Pacific Leadership Team, I’d like to thank everyone for the dedication, resilience, skills and commitment you bring to caring for our customers.
In June, we announced new guidance for working under a hybrid model, which consists of a mix of on-site and off-site work that balances the needs of the business, the team, and the individual employees. Striking that balance is critical for us to create environments in which our employees and our business thrive.
Our teams are progressing well with meeting the expectations of spending at least 40% of time in-person and, for the first six months at Cummins, 60% of the time in-person for new employees and their managers.
This time together is intended to continue to build an inspiring and collaborative workplace where everyone feels a strong sense of belonging. If you or your team are not yet achieving these guidelines, please plan to do so in the next few weeks.
I would like to congratulate more than 65 employees who were promoted and welcome more than 310 new employees who joined the Cummins Asia Pacific team this year.
Congratulations to those promoted and thank you for stepping up to take on new responsibilities. For those new to Cummins, thank you all for choosing Cummins and we look forward to your contributions to our business.
I was reflecting on new employees choosing Cummins for their careers and recalling the amazing number of employees who reached significant service milestones in the first half of 2023. Their contributions equated to more than 2,845 years with 46 employees celebrating more than 20 years with the company.
This mix of new and long-serving employees is a special part of what I enjoy about working at Cummins. New employees, who bring new experiences and ideas, combined with long-serving employees with vast experience and deep external customer relationships, make this a special place to work.
Be sure to reach out and congratulate these employees, be it welcoming them to Cummins or thanking them for their extraordinary service milestones and contributions to our success.
In the last five years, Cummins Powers Women’s (CPW) impact within Asia Pacific deserves reflection. The numbers speak for themselves: 46,879 women and girls positively impacted, $1.2 million invested across four countries and four Asia Pacific partners, one global impact award and more than 95 Cummins Asia Pacific CPW Ambassadors.
Cummins Powers Women programs have already had a deep and long-lasting impact on women and girls across Asia Pacific and our reach continues to grow.
Cummins is working to create solutions to gender inequality in our communities by partnering with global nonprofit organisations to accelerate the advancement of women and girls, reinforcing Cummins’ internal commitment to the prosperity of women around the world. Thank you all for the work done in this important area for gender equality within the communities in which we reside.
You are an incredible team, and I am grateful for the skills and dedication you bring to Cummins, our customers, each other and our business. Thank you.
Warm regards
Peter Jensen-Muir Executive Managing Director | Cummins Asia Pacific
