They were supported by Mikhayla Pratt (Off-highway Marketing Intern), Davis McConnell (HR Graduate) and Maxwell Henderson and Lloyd Morrissey (Engineering),
The Big Meet is a one-day careers fair organised by the Australian Association of Graduate Employers (AAGE) and promoted to students from all universities in the host city.
The expo promotes intern and graduate programs to the attendees and subsequently captures students’ interest for the mid-year and 2024 program intakes.
The Big Meet was also a good opportunity for Cummins to promote the company to students and industry partners who might not know about our organisation.
The Trades Fit Expo
The TA team, in collaboration with the Apprentice Program Management (APM) team, attended The Trades Fit Expo at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.
Hosted by the Department of Education, the event provided a comfortable space for female and non-binary students from years 9 to 12 to learn about traditionally male-dominated industries. The team’s objective was to promote the Apprentice Program to more female and non-binary students and capture their interest in becoming future mechanical, electrical or parts apprentice superstars with Cummins.
The collaborative work between the TA and APM teams produced fruitful results as many attendees expressed interest in Cummins’ renowned Apprentice Program. They successfully promoted the program to students seeking a more hands-on career after completing their high school studies.
Lucas Noack, Apprentice Program Intern, said: “The Trades Fit Expo represents everything that is good about women and non-binary people in the trades industry. The drive to create a more gender diverse culture was on full display, as companies showcased their appeal to students from around Victoria.
“It was a perfect opportunity to highlight the many opportunities Cummins can provide to the next generation of future female and non-binary workers. We relished the chance
Mikhayla said: “Attending the Big Meet was so much fun, meeting new people within the business and students who were keen to know more about Cummins.
“Listening to Tracy, Davis and the rest of the team’s interactions with interested students gave me more insight into the apprentice and intern programs in general. It was interesting to see the benefits and diversity Cummins offers compared to our competitors, who largely limit access for international students and more.” to show our passion for creating meaningful apprenticeships for those who choose one of the many pathways we have to offer. In doing so, we hope to have instilled the excitement of potentially completing an apprenticeship at Cummins.”
Overall, the event had a positive outcome because Cummins captured significant numbers of expressions of interest from students in various fields and from different universities for our intern and graduate programs.
