It’s time to make a change CHANGING FOR THE FUTURE IL CAMBIAMENTO VERSO IL FUTURO Che il settore orologiero e gioielliero negli ultimi anni abbia vissuto momenti critici è un dato di fatto, che il calo degli espositori sia stato un segno tangibile di questi periodi critici è altrettanto evidente. Eppure il Salone mondiale dell’orologeria e Gioielleria di Basilea resta l’appuntamento annuale più importante per il settore, per gli operatori, i buyer e la stampa internazionale. Molte novità per quest’edizione 2018. A cominciare dalla riduzione dei giorni di fiera che passano a 6 per ottimizzare tempi e costi per tutti. Vari i grandi nomi blasonati assenti sia per l’orologeria che la gioielleria. Questo però è di certo l’anno che sottolinea il profondo cambiamento del mercato e di alcune dinamiche di produzione, comunicazione e marketing. Le varie piattaforme digital hanno amplificato le visibilità quotidiane anche se per determinati pubblici e con opportuni linguaggi. Eppure l’incontro vis à vis dei vari pubblici di riferimento resta il canale privilegiato da storici top brands. Il numero degli espositori internazionali si aggira intorno ai 700 per questa edizione. It is a given fact that in recent years both the timepiece and the jewelry sectors have faced some critical moments, and that the decline in exhibitors is a tangible sign of these critical times is equally evident. And yet the International Timepiece and Jewelry Exhibition in Basel remains THE most important yearly event for these sectors, for the operators, buyers and international press. Much is new this year, starting with fewer days that the exhibition will be open, in order to optimize time and costs for all. Several important makers will be absent this year but this is without a doubt the year that marks a clear change in the market and certain production, communication and marketing dynamics. The numerous digital platforms have amplified daily visibility albeit for certain members of the public and with the appropriate language. However, one-to-one meetings remain the preferred channel for the historical top brands. Ths year the number of international exhibitors is approximately 700. Baselworld has decided to maintain its high standing and focus on quality and diversity .

Dal 2018, saranno protagoniste nuove forme di comunicazione digital in tempo reale. Allo stesso tempo, gli approcci concettuali per le edizioni future sono già in fase di sviluppo. Baselworld 2018 will thus be the first step towards a new and far-seeing concept. BREGUET A Baselworld, Breguet presenta la sua prima novità del 2018, aggiungendo alla sua collezione Grandes Complications un orologio a lungo atteso. Questa linea si arricchisce di un modello con quadrante smaltato «Grand Feu». Il nuovo CLASSIQUE GRANDES COMPLICATIONS 5367 interpreta con grande semplicità il tourbillon, che spicca su un quadrante decisamente minimalista. Le indicazioni sono state volutamente ridotte all'essenziale per lasciare al meccanismo lo spazio che merita. Contrariamente alla referenza 5377, presentata nel 2013, per questa edizione è stato deciso di rinunciare all’indicatore della riserva di marcia. Per attirare lo sguardo sull'elemento chiave, Breguet ha optato per una barretta di tourbillon grafica smussata a mano, sormontata da uno spinello. Sempre di colore blu, le lancette formano un bel contrasto sul bianco candido dello smalto tradizionale, per assicurare una perfetta visibilità delle ore e dei minuti. Il giro delle ore con numeri arabi Breguet è decentrato a ore 11, diametralmente opposto al tourbillon situato a ore 5. Questa disposizione degli indicatori ricorda molto gli orologi da tasca realizzati da A.-L. Breguet, al quale piaceva rivoluzionare le convenzioni estetiche degli orologi della sua epoca. Se l'aspetto di questo Tourbillon Extra- Plat Automatique è stato semplificato nell'aspetto frontale, il suo movimento invece presenta ricchi decori. Ponti, bariletti e massa oscillante sono incisi a mano. Realizzata in platino per una maggiore inerzia, la massa oscillante gira perifericamente al calibro, con il vantaggio di lasciare libera la vista sul movimento e ridurre lo spessore. Il Classique Tourbillon Extra-Plat Automatique 5367 disponibile in oro rosa o platino con cinturino rispettivamente in alligatore color mogano o blu, vanta soli 7,45 mm di spessore per contenere un movimento di 3 mm. Il calibro 581 possiede un bilanciere oscillante con una frequenza di 4 Hz, pur mantenendo una riserva di marcia di 80 ore. Questo particolare vantaggio è possibile grazie al bariletto ad «alta energia», la cui concezione, brevettata, consente di aumentare il numero di avvolgimenti della molla e quindi una maggiore riserva di energia. In 2018, Breguet enriches its Grandes Complications collection with a long- awaited addition, since this line had thus far not been graced with a “Grand Feu” enamel dial. This new CLASSIQUE GRANDES COMPLICATIONS 5367 provides a beautifully simple interpretation of the tourbillon, which reigns supreme on a minimalist dial. The information has been deliberately pared down to essentials in order to give the mechanism the full attention it deserves. Contrary to reference 5377 presented in 2013, this 2018 edition has no power-reserve indicator. In order to draw the gaze to the key element, Breguet has opted for a graphic hand-bevelled tourbillon bar, topped by a spinel. The likewise blue Breguet hands strike a powerful contrast with the immaculate whiteness of the traditional enamel, thereby ensuring perfect legibility of the hours and minutes. The chapter ring with Breguet Arabic numerals is off-centred at 11 o’clock and thus directly facing the tourbillon at 5 o’clock. This display layout is reminiscent of the watches created by A.L. Breguet, who revelled in revolutionising the aesthetic conventions governing the timepieces of his era.While the appearance of this Tourbillon Extra-Plat Automatique model is extremely understated on the front, its movement is nonetheless richly decorated. The bridges, barrel and oscillating weight are hand- engraved. Crafted in platinum for greater inertia, the latter rotates on the periphery of the calibre, thus providing a clearer view of the movement as well as ensuring its slimness. For the first time, the BOY · FRIEND watch, created in 2015, houses a Fine Watchmaking skeleton movement, the Calibre 3. After three years of development, this third in-house movement is designed to be beautiful at any angle. Floating in its octagonal beige gold case, it features a series of interlinked, vertically aligned circles. The mirror-polished beige gold chamfering emphasizes the movement’s depth. BLANCPAIN La collezione Villeret di Blancpain da nuovo lustro al datario completo GMT presentato per la prima volta nel 2002. In occasione di Baselworld, il marchio riedita questa complicazione con un nuovo QUANTIÈME COMPLET GMT, anche questo dotato dei famosi correttori di Blancpain posti sotto le anse. Fin dall'inizio degli anni '80 i segnatempo Blancpain con datario completo e fasi lunari spiccano tra le complicazioni più importanti della Maison. Il loro successo non è dovuto solo alla loro utilità, ma anche al modo in cui sono realizzati. I modelli Villeret con datario completo indicano il giorno della settimana e il mese in due finestrelle situate a ore 12. La data si legge mediante una lancetta a serpentina in acciaio azzurrato, mentre il ciclo lunare è riprodotto in un'apertura a ore 6. Since the early 1980’s, Blancpain’s complete calendar moonphase timepieces have been a signature of the house. Blancpain’s design that displays the day of the week and month in windows and the date with a supplemental blued serpentine shaped hand reading upon scale positioned around the chapter ring and placement of a moon phase window at six o'clock has firmly established itself as a classic arrangement. Adding the GMT function elevates the timepiece to a high complication. Ensuring that the watch places itself as an ideal travel companion, the calendar indications are linked to the local time display shown on the principal hands. Home time is shown with a red tipped hand. The introduction of this combination of complications in the Villeret Collection brings with it innovations that were developed after the original version of the Quantième Complet GMT was launched. The in-house movement now features a silicium balance spring with its superior anti- magnetic and timing precision properties. Setting of all the calendar and moon phase indications with a finger tip, instead of the standard tool, is made possible with the exclusive under-lug correctors. An added benefit, the hidden correctors enable completely smooth case flanks unmarred by corrector dimples, commonly found in the watch world. Rapid adjustment of local time in one hour increments is accomplished via the crown. Il movimento sviluppato in esclusiva per Longines si distingue per la sua estrema precisione, trattandosi di un orologio analogico (± 5 secondi/anno), e per la sua capacità di resettare le lancette dopo un urto o un’esposizione a un campo magnetico, grazie al sistema DPR (rilevamento della posizione dei ruotismi). Vantaggi che gli conferiscono lo status di movimento eccezionale, cui occorre aggiungere la lunghissima autonomia della pila e il calendario perpetuo. Gli esemplari in acciaio o PVD nero, disponibili in due dimensioni (casse da 42 e 44 mm di diametro), indicano l'ora, i minuti e i secondi e presentano un contatore 30 minuti a ore 3, un contatore 12 ore a ore 9 e un contatore 60 secondi al centro. In ogni modello, le azioni sono semplificate dalla presenza della corona intelligente e dei due indicatori distinti che permettono di segnalare con anticipo il fine vita della pila. I cronografi Conquest V.H.P. esibiscono quadranti di colore blu, fibra di carbonio, argenté o nero. THE CONQUEST V.H.P. represents a new achievement in the field of quartz, combining great precision, high technicality and a sporty look, marked by the brand’s unique elegance. In the true essence of Conquest - the ultimate sports line - the brand now proposes chronographs that bring together all of the qualities of the Conquest V.H.P. movement. Longines’ history with quartz has been one full of technical innovations and feats. In 1954, the first quartz watch set a precision record at the Neuchâtel Observatory. It would be fitted into the legendary Chronocinégines, an instrumentthatbecame a pioneer in the historyof timekeeping, as it provided judges with a film strip composed of a series of prints, allowing them to follow the athletes’ movement as they crossed the finish line. In 1969, technological mastery led Longines to reveal the Ultra-Quartz, the first quartz movement designed for wristwatches. A huge stride was made in 1984 with the quartz calibre fitted in the first Conquest V.H.P., setting a precision record for that time. As an extension of these historic milestones, the winged hourglass brand presents its new Conquest V.H.P., now also available with a chronograph calibre in various chromatic variations. The movement developed exclusively for Longines stands out for its high degree of precision for an analog watch (±5 s/ yr) and its ability to reset its hands after an impact or exposure to a magnetic field, using the GPD (Gear Position Detection) system. These attractive features are likely responsible for its status as an exceptional movement, to which a very long battery life and a perpetual calendar must be added. These steel or black PVD models are available in two sizes (42 and 44 mm in diameter) and display hours, minutes and seconds, a 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock, a 12-hour counter at 9 o’clock and a 60second counter in the centre. On each model, manipulations are simplified thanks to the intelligent crown, while two distinct indicators preventively signal the end of battery life. Conquest V.H.P. chronographs boast blue, carbon fibre, silvered or black dials. A steel, or blue or black rubber watch strap completes these exceptional timepieces. CORUM Corum svela HOBO COIN una nuova edizione limitata della collezione Coin. Testimoni di un'arte popolare elaborata dai vagabondi, gli hobo coin rivivono oggi grazie al talento di un artista singolare, Aleksey Saburov. Da New York, arriverà a Baselworld per realizzare dal vivo un esemplare di questi pezzi unici che uniscono alta orologeria e numismatica. BREITLING Breitling, il brand di orologi rinomato per i suoi cronografi e per il suo forte legame con l’aviazione, ha appena lanciato una nuova collezione di orologi da pilota: NAVITIMER 8. L’8 incorporato nel nome richiama l’Huit Aviation Department, istituito nel 1938 per la produzione di strumenti per le cabine di pilotaggio e orologi classici da pilota per uso civile e militare. All’epoca Willy Breitling scelse il nome «Huit», la parola francese per «otto», come riferimento alla riserva di carica di otto giorni garantita dai suoi leggendari strumenti per la cabina di pilotaggio. GUCCI Gucci Timepieces amplia la collezione G-TIMELESS. Questi segnatempo unisex fondono lo stile casual di un orologio Swiss Made con l'estetica eccentrica della Maison, utilizzando simboli distintivi ispirati alla natura per creare una narrazione moderna. Ovunque iconiche api, stelle e farfalle. Sul fondello in PVD oro giallo lucido, è inciso uno dei motivi animalier più caratteristici della Maison: l'ape o la testa di felino. Gucci Timepieces presents the new additions to the G-TIMELESS collection. Each of these unisex timepieces blends the styling of a casual Swiss Made watch with the House’s eccentric aesthetic, using distinctive, natureinspired symbols to create a modern narrative. For the first time, some of the watches feature a polished yellow gold PVD case back, engraved with one of the House’s signature animalier motifs: the bee or feline head. Finished with an ardillon buckle in the same material as the case, the straps are specially designed to fit different wrist sizes, from 150mm to 192mm. One timepiece showcases a black leather dial, which is accented with a golden bee and star decorations, yellow gold-colored sword hands, and the Gucci logo at 12 o’clock. The black-and-gold color scheme flows seamlessly into the black leather strap, also distinguished by bees and stars.
