La creatività entra nel calcolo del PIL americano Il Dipartimento del Commercio americano, nel diffondere i dati sull’andamento positivo del PIL, che loro chiamano GDP (Gross Domestic Product), ha indicato che questi dati sono stati anche favoriti, oltre che dalla produzione industriale in crescita oltre le aspettative degli analisti di Wall Street, dalla revisione contabile avviata dalla amministrazione statunitense per “ricalcolare” il PIL. È stato incluso anche il potenziale economico di opere di ingegno come film, serie tv, design e altre forme d’arte.

In parole più semplici, con questa “revisione statistica”, si potranno anche misurare i possibili incassi derivanti dal contributo della creatività.

Si è valutato che l’operazione possa generare 400 miliardi di dollari (circa 300 miliardi di euro) di PIL in più. E così, alla fine, l’indicatore darà segnali un po’ più positivi rispetto a prima, ma non solo perché è ripartito il motore dello sviluppo, ma anche perché si è deciso di misurare ciò che prima esisteva e non era calcolato. Non è una rivoluzione economica, ma un cambiamento culturale, un nuovo approccio che considera i beni immateriali centrali per la crescita delle economie più avanzate.

Per l’Italia, nazione alla quale la creatività e lo spirito innovativo non mancano, è una grande opportunità. Auguriamoci che sia possibile coglierla, valorizzando uno dei nostri “beni naturali” più diffusi.

Perché questa sottile diffidenza sul fatto che la creatività in Italia possa essere valorizzata? Perché in Italia, è vero, se ne parla molto, ma non sempre la creatività è apprezzata davvero.

Facciamo un esempio: se digitate la parola “creatività” su un motore di ricerca vi vengono presentati 11.900.000 risultati; se lo scrivete in inglese i risultati sono 250.000.000. Wikipedia tratta il termine in 45 idiomi diversi e i testi citati sono 61 bibliografia per la bibliografia italiana che diventano 83 testi nella versione inglese.

Questo per dire che nel mondo anglosassone la creatività è più trattata e probabilmente più apprezzata, stando almeno alla notizia del suo ingresso nel calcolo del PIL americano.

Spediamo un messaggio nella bottiglia nel grande mare della politica, indirizzato, come si dice, a chi di dovere, sperando che sia raccolto, letto e valorizzato.

CREATIVITY BECOMES A FACTOR IN THE AMERICAN GDP In disclosing the positive American GDP trend (Gross Domestic Product, called PIL Prodotto Interno Lordo in Italy), the Department of Commerce indicated that this data was spurred by a growth in industrial production beyond the expectations of Wall Street analysts as well as by the accounting revision undertaken by the American administration to “recalculate” the GDP. The economic potential of creativity, such as movies, TV series, design and other art forms was also included.

In brief, this “statistical review” will measure potential income deriving from creativity.

It was estimated that the operation could generate $400 billion (approximately 300 billion) of additional GDP. And thus, in the end, the indicator will be a bit more positive than before, not only because the development motor has started up again but also because it was decided to measure that which existed before but was not calculated.

It’s not an economic revolution, but a cultural change, a new approach that takes into consideration immaterial assets that are keys to growth in the more advanced economies.

For Italy, a country in which creativity and innovative spirit are certainly not lacking, it’s a great opportunity. Let’s hope that we can take advantage of this opportunity, valorizing one of our most widespread “natural assets”.

Why this subtle diffidence concerning the fact that creativity in Italy can be valorized? Because it’s true that much is said on this subject in Italy, but not always is creativity truly appreciated.

An example: if you write the word “creativity” in Italian in a research tool, you will get 11,900,000 hits; if you write the same word in English you will get 250,000,000 hits. Wikipedia covers the term in 45 different idioms and the texts cited are from 61 sites for the Italian bibliography which become 83 in the English version.

This just means that in the Anglo-Saxon world creativity is mentioned more often and probably also more appreciated, at least according to the news of its entrance in calculating the American GDP. Let’s send “a message in a bottle” to the great sea of politics, addressed, as the saying goes, “to whom it may concern”, hoping that it is found, read and valorized.cies reduce costs and improve performance.

LUXURY NEWS CHARITY / LUSSO ACCESSIBILE E BENEFICO Da sempre in prima linea in attività di solidarietà, DAMIANI è stata protagonista a Roma, di una serata di charity in cui, Giorgio Damiani, alla presenza di Hidetoshi Nakata, ha consegnato un’ulteriore donazione di 50.000 euro nelle mani del presidente di Drop in the Bucket, l’organizzazione internazionale che realizza pozzi di acqua pulita in regioni dell’Africa in cui la scarsità e la qualità dell’acqua disponibile sono causa enorme di malattie e mortalità, soprattutto infantile.

Il progetto “Clean Water” avviato dall’azienda quasi dieci anni fa, ha trovato in Hidetoshi Nakata, un appassionato e valido sostenitore, già da diversi anni.

Il creativo ed eclettico imprenditore ed ex calciatore Nakata ha co-disegnato con Damiani una collezione più sportiva e portabile, utilizzando e mixando materiali innovativi: la pelle, l’argento o i diamanti neri. Come per le precedenti collezioni anche questa destinerà parte del ricavato al sostenere le finalità benefiche di Drop in the Bucket.

Questa importante donazione consentirà di aggiungere ai 60 pozzi già realizzati da Damiani altri 10 nuovi pozzi. ACCESSIBLE AND CHARITABLE LUXURY Always in the front line for solidarity, DAMIANI recently was the protagonist in Rome, during a charity event in which Giorgio Damiani, in the presence of Hidetoshi Nakata, handed over an additional donation of 50.000 Euro in the hands of the president of Drop in the Bucket, the international organization that realizes clean water wells in those areas of Africa in which the scarcity and quality of available water is the cause of illness and death, especially in infants.

The “Clean Water” project undertaken by the company nearly ten years ago found an enthusiastic and valid sponsor several years ago in Hidetoshi Nakata.

The creative and eclectic former soccer player and entrepreneur Nakata together with Damiani co-designed a more sporty and wearable collection, using and mixing innovative materials: leather, silver or black diamonds. As with the previous collections, this one too will donate part of the proceeds to support the charitable objectives of Drop in the Bucket.

This important donation will add ten new wells to the 60 already realized by Damiani. These wells are fundamental for a healthy life and the social development of tens of thousands of persons. Proof of how excellence and craftsmanship can meet accessible and charitable luxury.

L’architetto francese Bruno Moinard ha firmato le camere, gli spazi comuni e la hall. A NEW CONTEMPORARY LUXURY The new luxurious EDEN, the historical Roman hotel, will reopen its doors on April 1. An event to be celebrated by the entire city, as Director Luca Virgilio explains, “the idea is exactly that of bringing the Capital inside the hotel and to give Romans back a place to meet and live a unique experience”. The visit to the site and the press conference made a distinct impression, with safety helmets, special shoes and work site smocks worn by all. Work proceeds smoothly and all indications point to an elegant and contemporary location. French architecture Bruno Moinard supervised the rooms, the common areas and the hall. Marble, black, white and gold chromatic designs welcome guests in the lobby that leads to the library lounge with the original great fireplace dating from 1889.

Amongst the new additions to the Eden - which will shine even brighter in the Dorchester Group’s sky - is an exclusive spa, four suites dedicated to caring for the face, the body and the spirit through highly personalized made-to-order treatments. Officina Santa Maria Novella is the brand selected to incarnate Italian traditions while for face treatments it was decided to bring in international names and, for the first time in Europe, to use the line produced by Sonya Dakar from California, she founded the Sonya Dakar Skin Clinic in Beverly Hills and is the beauty guru of many Hollywood celebrities. The gourmet by star chef Fabio Ciervo will be based on a few key concepts: “innovation, wellness, flavor and art”.

As explained by the Eden’s Sales Director, Laura Fiore: “We have enlarged the rooms, previously 101 but now 98, we made them very technological and domotic. We are thus able to respond to the needs of important markets, such as the Orient, who until now did not consider the five-star hotels in Rome to be up to their standards. Lei è Gabriella Pession sguardo che cattura, sensuale e profonda.

GIOIELLO ITALIANO NEL MONDO Importanti novità per VICENZAORO, i Saloni internazionali dell’oreficeria e della gioielleria organizzati da Fiera di Vicenza. Il rinnovamento strategico del calendario 2017 delle Manifestazioni Jewellery, potenzierà il sistema VICENZAORO a servizio delle dinamiche evolutive della distribuzione internazionale del comparto orafo-gioielliero.

L’anno si aprirà con VICENZAORO January dal 20 al 25 gennaio.

L’edizione invernale si conferma pertanto la prima manifestazione dell’anno in ambito internazionale per il settore, luogo privilegiato di presentazione delle nuove collezioni ai sistemi distributivi dopo l’intensa attività di fine anno. Nuove date, invece, per l’edizione di VICENZAORO September 2017, che rispetto al passato è programmata alla fine del mese, dal 23 al 27 settembre.

Questo posizionamento segue le dinamiche evolutive della distribuzione europea ed internazionale che richiede un nuovo assortimento al termine della stagione turistica.La scelta della nuova data è inoltre dettata anche dalla decisione di riagganciarsi alla strategia del Tavolo Nazionale del Sistema Moda Persona, con la quale il Ministero per lo Sviluppo Economico promuove l’allineamento in settembre delle date delle Manifestazioni Fieristiche protagoniste del sistema Moda a quelle della Settimana della Moda Donna milanese. A settembre 2017, quindi, l’Italia sarà il fulcro internazionale di Moda e Gioielleria in un’ottica di sistema che vedrà come protagonista il Well Done in Italy del comparto luxury.

Importanti novità anche per VICENZAORO Dubai, lo Show nella città del Golfo si sposterà da primavera ad autunno inoltrato, nei giorni 15-18 novembre 2017, al fine di supportare le relazioni di business in un periodo di alta stagione per le vendite per la Macro Regione di riferimento.

Con orgoglio Luxury files tra i magazine media partner di tale manifestazione da oltre 15 anni, sottolinea che anche per il 2017 VICENZAORO confermerà il proprio ruolo strategico di evento ambasciatore della gioielleria italiana nel mondo.

Important happenings for VICENZAORO, the international gold and jewelry exhibition organized by Fiera di Vicenza. The strategic renewal of the 2017 calendar of jewelry events will strengthen VICENZAORO at the service of the developing dynamics in the international distribution of the gold-jewelry sector.

The new year opens with VICENZAORO January, from January 20-25. The winter edition consequently is in absolute the first event of the year in an international context in this sector, a privileged venue to present new collections to the distribution systems following the busy days at the end of the year. New dates, instead, for VICENZAORO September 2017, which, with respect to the past, is scheduled for the end of the month, from the 23rd to the 27th.

This programming follows the developing dynamics of European and international distribution that requires a new assortment at the end of the tourist season. The choice of the new dates was moreover dictated by the decision to reconnect to the strategy of the Tavolo Nazionale del Sistema Moda Persona, with which the Department of Economic Development promotes the alignment in September of the dates for the fairs dedicated to fashion and to the women’s Milanese fashion week. In September 2017, therefore, Italy will be the international fulcrum for fashion and jewelry with a view to the system that sees the Well Done in Italy as the protagonist in the luxury sector.

Important happenings also for VICENZAORO Dubai; in 2017 the Show will move from spring to late fall, November 15-18, in order to support business relations during the high season for sales for the reference macro areas.

The exclusive DolceVita Cocktail took place in Rome last November 29th, showcasing Longines and its new models, in the prestigious Hour Passion boutique at Via del Corso 167, in historic Palazzo Boncompagni Ottoboni (1731), along one of the in luxury shopping streets in the Capital.

An exceptional venue, dedicated to time, to connoisseurs of timekeeping but not only to them, it is a concept store that brings together medium- and high-range brands of the Swatch Group such as Longines, Rado, Tissot, Mido, Hamilton, Calvin Klein, Swatch and Flik Flak.

Dal 2015 Boizel è distribuito in Italia dall’azienda vitivinicola Feudi di San Gregorio, grazie ad un accordo di esclusiva.

Una curiosità: i look degli ospiti intervenuti sono stati impreziositi da una piccola rosa rossa, imperdibile dettaglio in stile Luxury files.

This VIP party toasted with Champagne Boizel, the famous brand founded in 1834 at Epernay by Auguste Boizel, which absolutely had to be sipped at this meeting of stars: a family, a Maison, a unique tradition.

Very high production quality that has been handed down now for six generations based on a profound knowledge of the terroir. Today it boasts approximately 500,000 bottles each year from the seven hectares of vineyards in Champagne, and from an important vineyard in Avize, in Côte des Blancs.

Since 2015 Boizel is distributed in Italy by the winery Feudi di San Gregorio, thanks to an exclusive agreement.

RESPONSABILI Le tendenze del settore orafo italiano: la gioielleria intercetta i consumi “green” L’arte orafa è senza dubbio tra i settori che maggiormente identificano il Made in Italy, rappresentandone plasticamente lo stile e il design. 6.400 imprese, 26.000 addetti, 6,85 miliardi di euro di fatturato complessivo: questi dati testimoniano in modo inequivocabile il contributo significativo che il settore offre all’economia italiana. Storia e tradizione hanno contrassegnato nel corso dei secoli lo sviluppo del sistema orafo italiano, ma le radici del successo vanno rintracciate nell’abilità degli artigiani, nell’accuratezza della lavorazione, nell’originalità dei manufatti che forgia l’estetica senza snaturarne gli elementi formali e, naturalmente, nello stile, nella qualità e nelle tecnologie impiegate. Questi caratteri hanno consentito all’Italia di raggiungere una posizione di assoluto rilievo a livello internazionale. L’Italia è, difatti, il sesto principale Paese esportatore al mondo con un peso pari al 5,1%. Occorre rilevare, però, che negli ultimi anni il mantenimento di questa posizione è sempre più impegnativo. L’Italia, come anche altri competitor europei, ha perso quote di mercato rilevanti assorbite da altri Paesi, uno fra tutti la Cina che dal 2010 al 2014 ha incrementato la propria quota di circa il 400%. Le performance poco incoraggianti degli ultimi anni sono attribuibili a diversi fattori. La presenza di un sistema produttivo altamente frammentato, la concorrenza agguerrita di produttori stranieri che lavorano a basso costo e che hanno notevolmente migliorato la qualità dei manufatti, il costo delle materie prime, la lenta ripresa dei consumi mondiali, sono soltanto alcuni dei fattori che stanno lanciando continue sfide agli operatori. In presenza di tali elementi il settore imprenditoriale orafo ha cercato di individuare delle condotte intelligenti - talvolta anche rischiose - innovando continuamente la gamma di prodotti e le tecnologie impiegate, privilegiando i segmenti a più elevato valore aggiunto e con un forte contenuto creativo e di moda.

RESPONSIBLE JEWELRY Trends in the Italian gold market: jewelry intersects “green” consumption The art of making gold objects is without a doubt among the sectors that best identify Made in Italy, plastically representing style and design. 6,400 firms, 26,000 workers, 6,85 billion Euro in total turnover: these facts are unequivocal proof of the significant contribution that this sector provides to the Italian economy. Over the centuries history and tradition have marked the development of the Italian gold making system, but the roots of this success can be found in the expertise of its craftsmen, in the painstaking detail of the workmanship, in the originality of the pieces that forge aesthetics without distorting the formal elements and, of course, in the style, in the quality and in the technology utilized. These characteristics enabled Italy to reach a position of prime importance on an international level. Italy, in fact, is the sixth main exporting country in the world, with a percentage equal to 5.1%. It should, however, be pointed out that in recent years maintaining this position has become more and more difficult. Italy, as other European competitors, has lost significant market shares, absorbed by other countries, chief among them China, which between 2010 and 2014 increased its quota 400%. The poor performance of recent years is attributable to several factors. The presence of a highly fragmented production system, the ferocious competition from foreign producers that work at low cost and which have considerably improved the quality of their products, the cost of raw materials, the slow climb in world consumption, are just some of the factors that continuously challenge operators. In the presence of these elements gold entrepreneurs have tried to identify intelligent strategies – at times even risky – constantly renewing the range of products and the technologies used, privileging those sectors with the highest value added and with a strong creative and fashion content.

Accanto ai prodotti classici della high jewelry, stanno emergendo nuove nicchie come quella dei gioielli a vocazione green. La nuova sensibilità che sta caratterizzando i consumi mondiali contagia anche il comparto dell’hard luxury. Non ci si accontenta più di un oggetto speciale, si vuole conoscere tutta la storia che c’è dietro. Nel settore orafo la svolta green è innanzitutto sinonimo di un tipo di gioielleria che non nasconda dietro di sé violazioni di diritti umani, inquinamento dell’ambiente o guerre civili. Il Responsible Jewellery Council è la massima organizzazione no profit che stabilisce norme e certificazioni che abbracciano la catena di fornitura di gioielli dalla miniera alla vendita al dettaglio. Le società affiliate alla RJC si impegnano ad osservare una revisione contabile indipendente (RJC Code of Practice) che definisce uno standard internazionale sulle pratiche commerciali responsabili per diamanti, oro e platino. Lo sviluppo sostenibile, quindi, mira ad una tracciabilità di filiera che garantisca uno sviluppo etico ed ecocompatibile di tutte le fasi coinvolte nel processo produttivo. Accanto a ciò occorre evidenziare che la green jewellery è espressione sia di gioielli realizzati con oro estratto da miniere controllate, con diamanti certificati RJC o con pietre preziose certificate dalla maison svizzera Gemfields, che di metalli preziosi che si combinano con altri più poveri come il bronzo, la seta e il legno.

Anche se la sfida può apparire difficoltosa e non sostenibile da parte di tutti gli operatori dell’oro, c’è da dire che l’Italia si è già distinta sui mercati internazionali per il suo pionierismo e per la facilità con cui riesce a presentare finiture di altissima qualità anche in presenza di progetti fortemente innovativi.

In tal senso, le fiere settoriali possono avere un ruolo importante nella costruzione di filiere etiche soprattutto quando l’approvvigionamento della materia prima coinvolge Paesi emergenti e flussi economici rilevanti, come nel caso dell’oro e delle pietre preziose. Anche l’ONU ha di recente riconosciuto la fiera come soggetto in grado di dire la sua sulla responsabilità sociale ed ecologica di una filiera. Non soltanto, quindi, promozione e marketing, ma attività di dialogo e confronto con la moltitudine di piccole e medie imprese che ripongono costantemente numerose aspettative sulle attività di supporto proposte da fiere e consorzi di settore. Il tema della sostenibilità sociale e ambientale potrebbe diventare un terreno proficuo per stimolare strategie collaborative più incisive che superino le penalizzanti logiche individualiste di molte imprese italiane.

Next to the classic high jewelry products, there are new niches such as green jewelry. The new sensitivity that marks world consumption also contaminates the hard luxury sector. Having a special object is simply not enough, one wants to know the entire story behind it. The turn to green in the gold sector is first of all of a type of jewelry that does not hide behind violations of human rights, polluting the environment or civil war. The Responsible Jewellery Council is the highest no-profit organization that establishes rules and certifications that encompass the supply chain of jewelry, from the mines to retail stores.

Companies affiliated with the RJC undertake to submit to an independent audit (RJC Code of Practice) that defines an international standard for businesses that deal in diamonds, gold and platinum. Sustainable development, therefore, aims at traceability all along the line that guarantees an ethical and eco-sustainable development in all the phases involved in the production process. In addition, it should be mentioned that green jewellery is an expression of both the jewels realized in gold extracted from controlled mines, with RJC certified diamonds or with precious stones certified by the Swiss company Gemfields, as well as of precious metals that are combined with other poorer materials such as bronze, silk and wood.

Even though the challenge may appear difficult and not sustainable by all the gold operators, it must be said that Italy has already distinguished itself in international markets for its pioneering and for the ease with which it produces extremely high quality finished products also in the presence of highly innovative projects. In this sense, business fairs can play an important role in building ethical pipelines especially when the procurement of raw materials involves emerging nations and significant economic flows, as in the case of gold and precious stones. The UN recently has also recognized business fairs as a subject able to speak out on the social and ecologic responsibility of a pipeline. Consequently, not just promotion and marketing, but communication and comparison with the multitude of small- and medium-size businesses that entrust their expectations to the support activities offered by business fairs and consortiums. The subject of social and environmental sustainability could become a profitable ground to stimulate more incisive cooperation strategies that overcome the penalizing individualistic logic of many Italian businesses.

Il mio lusso è fare un lavoro che mi consente lunghi periodi di libertà, durante i quali riesco a fare ciò che mi più mi piace.

Per me lusso non significa un brand o uno stile di vita in particolare ma piuttosto è possedere il tempo per concedersi un viaggio o quel che più amiamo fare, a prescindere da cosa sia.

For me luxury doesn’t mean a brand or a particular lifestyle but rather it means having the time to take a trip or do what we most like to do, no matter what that may be.

I like to follow fashion and I enjoy it, it’s also very connected to my work.

To me fashion means dynamism, it lets me change my look according to the roles I play, to the phases in my life.

To all intents and purposes it is an accessory that lets us express a state of mind.

Vesto in modo basico, non amo orpelli o fronzoli.

Sono io a dare il carattere a quello che indosso.

Nutro un'incondizionata ammirazione per gli artigiani, o sarebbe meglio chiamarli artisti, che, con le prorpie mani, sono in grado di fare un paio di scarpe, un gioiello, una gonna, una camicia o un pantalone.

Indossare un capo di abbigliamento che è stato pensato, misurato, tagliato, confezionato apposta per “te” è un gran privilegio.

Indossare un capo dove si percepisce che non è stata una macchina ma la mano di un uomo a realizzarlo, è per me il vero lusso.

Un lusso che regala sensazioni uniche ed irripetibili.

What does luxury mean to me?

I dress informally, I don’t like frills.

It is I who give character to what I wear.

I nourish an unconditional admiration for craftsmen, or it would be more exact to call them artists, who, with their own hands, are able to make a pair of shoes, jewelry, a skirt, a shirt or a pair of trousers.

Wearing clothing that has been designed, measured, cut and sewed especially for “you” is a great privilege.

Wearing clothing that you perceive was not made by a machine but by the hand of someone who made it for me is a real luxury.

A luxury that gives unique, one-of-a-kind sensations.

Fino al 1783, i segnatempo a ripetizione minuti comunicavano l’ora con rintocchi sul fondo delle casse, fu allora che A.-L. Breguet utilizzò per primo dei fili di metallo arrotolati intorno al movimento - le molle sonore - per consentire l’indicazione dell’ora attraverso un suono. Questa invenzione futuristica rivoluzionò il modo di concepire gli orologi a ripetizione minuti, tant’è che la soluzione inventata da Breguet è tutt’oggi utilizzata. Così ha fatto storia e ancor oggi molte Maison utilizzano schemi e nomenclature che vengono dal patrimonio immenso che ci ha lasciato il grande maestro Breguet. I quadranti guilloché, le lancette à pomme, note universalmente come “lancette Breguet”, come le cosiddette “cifre Breguet” e le casse scanalate o i calibri extra piatti, sono solo alcuni dei codici stilistici inequivocabili dell’ampio patrimonio orologiero che può vantare il marchio.

Until 1783, timepieces with minute repetitions announced the hour with tolls on the bottom of the cases; it was then that A.-L. Breguet was the first to use metallic wiring wrapped around the movement - the sound springs - to indicate the hour by a sound. This futuristic invention revolutionized the method of conceiving minute repetition watches, and this solution invented by Breguet is still used today. History was made and today many Maisons use schemes and definitions that derive from the immense heritage that the great Maestro A.-L. Breguet left us. The guilloché faces, the à pomme hands, universally known as “Breguet hands”, as well as the so-called “Breguet numbers” and the grooved cases or the extra-thin calibers, are just some of the unequivocal stylistic codes from the extensive watch-making heritage that the brand boasts.

Forte di questa eredità e grazie a notevoli investimenti nel settore Ricerca e Sviluppo, la Maison Breguet - con l’attuale direzione di Marc A. Hayek - nel 2016 ha vinto la scommessa di trasformare radicalmente, e per la seconda volta, la concezione di un ripetizione minuti. Infatti tra le grandi novità di quest’anno c’è l’inedito modello Tradition Répétition Minutes Tourbillon 7087, un orologio rivoluzionario, con cui Breguet ha raccolto un’altra sfida: concepire un segnatempo intorno ad un suono predeterminato. Grazie a questo approccio pionieristico, la Maison è riuscita a creare un orologio dalla purezza del suono eccezionale e con una tonalità inedita. Per creare questo modello, gli ingegneri della Maison con l’aiuto di particolari sintetizzatori sviluppati ad hoc, hanno sperimentato oltre 200.000 combinazioni di frequenze, classificate in famiglie secondo i criteri della psico-acustica. Questi suoni sono stati ascoltati e valutati attentamente per determinare la combinazione che rispondeva meglio agli obiettivi. Tant’è che il Tradition Répétition Minutes Tourbillon vanta ben sei nuovi brevetti e possiede molle sonore del tutto riprogettate, ora fissate alla lunetta e toccate verticalmente (e non più orizzontalmente) propagando meglio il suono. Ma oltre ad avere una serie di particolari tecnici fuori dal comune, il 7087 rende omaggio alla lunga storia della Maison, in particolare l’energia è trasmessa al meccanismo della ripetizione tramite una catena che ricorda quella del celebre orologio da tasca N°160, realizzato per la regina di Francia Marie-Antoinette e riedito da Breguet nel 2008.

Based on this heritage and thanks to considerable investments in research and development, the Maison Breguet - under the current supervision of Marc A. Hayek - in 2016 won the challenge of radically transforming, for the second time, the concept of minute repetition. In fact amongst the new items this year is the Tradition Répétition Minutes Tourbillon 7087 model, a revolutionary watch, with which Breguet took on another challenge: develop a timepiece around a predetermined sound.

Thanks to this pioneering approach, the Maison was able to create a watch with an exceptionally pure sound and an unusual tone. To create this model, with the help of specially created synthesizers the Maison’s engineers experimented with more than 200,000 frequency combinations, classified in families according to psychoacoustic criteria. These sounds were listened to and carefully evaluated to determine the combination that best corresponded with the objectives. Thus the Tradition Répétition Minutes Tourbillon boasts six new patents and possesses totally redesigned sound springs, now affixed to the bezel and touching vertically (no longer horizontally), better spreading the sound. But in addition to having a series of uncommon technical details, the 7087 pays tribute to the Maison’s lengthy history, in particular the energy is transmitted to the repeating mechanism through a chain that reminds us of the famous pocket watch No.160, realized for Queen of France Marie-Antoinette and redesigned by Breguet in 2008.

Type XXI 3817.

Altro modello iconico che testimonia anche l’importante ruolo nel mondo dell’aviazione militare di Breguet è il Type XXI 3817. Non tutti sanno che Louis Charles Breguet, pro-pro-nipote di Abraham-Louis mise a punto il giroplano, antenato dell’elicottero, e sviluppò nel 1916 l’aereo Breguet XIV. Contestualmente la Maison Breguet concepì meccanismi per cronografi montati sui pannelli di controllo dei cockpit degli aerei e cominciò a produrre orologi per aviatori. Fu così che sviluppò, nel 1935, i suoi primi cronografi da polso. Una ventina di anni più tardi, Breguet lanciò il Type XX su ordine delle forze armate francesi: il celebre cronografo in dotazione all’esercito dell’Aria e dell’Aeronautica navale francese fino ai primi anni ‘80.

La Maison oggi completa la sua collezione con un nuovo modello: il cronografo Type XXI 3817. La sua estetica vintage evoca la storia e le origini della linea, mentre le sue caratteristiche tecniche sono segno della sua modernità. Montato su un cinturino in vitello, sfoggia un quadrante color ardesia in stile vintage, risaltato da una cassa in acciaio dalle proporzioni equilibrate. Scanalato sui fianchi, ha un’impermeabilità fino a 100 m. Il movimento meccanico a carica automatica è dotato della funzione «ritorno in volo», una specificità dei cronografi Type XX fin dal 1954. La tradizione incontra materiali ultramoderni come il silicio. Il volto più sportivo e contemporaneo del brand é svelato.

Another iconic model that also bears witness to the important role in the Breguet world of military aviation is the TYPE XXI 3817. Many are unaware that Louis Charles Breguet, great-great-grandson of Abraham-Louis developed a gyroplane, forerunner of the helicopter, and in 1916 developed the Breguet XIV airplane. At the same time Maison Breguet developed mechanisms for chronographs mounted on airplane cockpit control panels and began producing watches for aviators. Thus, in 1936, the first wrist chronographs were developed. About twenty years later, Breguet launched the Type XX as ordered by the French armed forces: the famous chronograph used

by French air and nautical forces until the early 1980’s.

Today the Maison completes its collection with a new model: the Type XXI 3817 chronograph. Its vintage look harks back to its history and the origins of the line, while its technical characteristics are a sign of its modernity.

Mounted on a leather strap, it boasts a slate-colored face, which catches the eye from a steel case with harmonious proportions. Grooved on its sides, it is waterproof to 100 m. The mechanical movement with automatic winding is equipped with the «return in flight» function, a specific characteristic of the Type XX chronographs since 1954.

Tradition meets ultra-modern materials such as silicon.

The sporty and contemporary side of the brand is revealed.

No less important are the iconic 2016 women’s’ collections: Tradition, Classique, Reine de Naples and Haute Joaillerie, with which Breguet pays tribute to the Maison’s famous clients who contributed to its success, from Marie Antoinette to Carolina Murat, Queen of Naples.

The Perles Impériales set is glorious, and for the first time the Maison was inspired by Empress Josephine, wife of Napoleon Bonaparte, an art connoisseur and fervent admirer of Breguet, who in 1800 purchased a small watch, No. 611, recognizable by its blue enamel case and diamonds. The model presented this year in the Haute Joaillerie collection was inspired by this unique piece and calls to mind the jewels worn by the empress.

The Perles Impériales watch is realized with sophisticated setting techniques. The diamonds on the bezel highlight the oval shape of the case, symbol of the brand’s women’s collection. The surprising size of the pearl at 6 o’clock distinguishes this watch which moreover is embellished by diamonds weighing approximately six carats. To create a set, the Maison’s jewelers have realized an elegant ring and earrings, which reflect the empress theme, the marvelous pearl surrounded by diamonds.

Non da meno sono le iconiche collezioni femminili 2016 nelle linee: Tradition, Classique, Reine de Naples e Haute Joaillerie, con cui Breguet rende omaggio alle grandi clienti della Maison che hanno contribuito al suo destino, da Maria Antonietta a Carolina Murat, Regina di Napoli.

Meravigliosa la parure Perles Impériales con cui la Maison si ispira per la prima volta all’imperatrice Giuseppina, moglie di Napoleone, appassionata di arte e fervente ammiratrice di Breguet, acquistò, nel 1800, un piccolo orologio a tatto, il N°611, riconoscibile dalla sua cassa in smalto blu e diamanti. Il modello presentato quest’anno nella collezione Haute Joaillerie è ispirato a questo pezzo unico ed evoca i gioielli dell’imperatrice.

L’orologio Perles Impériales è realizzato con tecniche di incastonature sofisticate. I diamanti taglio brillante sulla lunetta mettono in risalto la forma ovoidale della cassa, emblema della collezione femminile del marchio. La perla dal diametro sorprendente a ore 6 caratterizza questo orologio arricchito inoltre da circa sei carati di diamanti. In abbinamento i maestri gioiellieri della Maison hanno realizzato una parure elegantissima, con anello e orecchini, che riprende il tema dell’imperatrice, la meravigliosa perla circondata di diamanti.

Per i polsi femminili, oltre al Reine de Naples Princess nella sofisticata versione Mini, tra le novità di quest’anno c’è anche il modello Tradition Dame 7038 a carica automatica: elegante e tecnologico, la sua architettura grafica ultramoderna, mette in risalto i componenti del movimento sul fronte e sul retro della platina. Al contempo i diamanti della lunetta, e un rubino con fori lucidati sulla corona lo rendono un orologio gioiello moderno e scintillante.

La riprova che la tradizione incontra il futuro ogni giorno.

La fusione tra architettura e tecnologia è ormai il presente. Lo spunto per affrontare questa tematica viene dall’intervista a due voci rilasciata sul campo dall’Architetto Marco Giammetta dello studio Giammetta Architects e dall’ingegnere Andrea De Martino di Engineering Solutions.

Un incontro di “eccellenze”, in un luogo speciale, una delle ultime opere architettoniche firmate Giammetta Architects e di cui Engineering Solutions ha curato il progetto , la realizzazione e l’integrazione architettonica degli impianti tecnologici .

Una visita in anteprima in questo “luogo” destinato a residenza privata, ubicata in una delle vie più affascinanti del centro storico della Capitale.

Entrando la sensazione è quella di iniziare un “percorso” alla scoperta di qualcosa di intenso ed inaspettato.

In un’alternanza di compressioni e rarefazioni dello spazio, qui l’architettura e la tecnologia assumono quasi un ruolo teatrale, preparando la psiche all’effetto sorpresa con una sapiente alternanza di materia, forma, suono, colore e luce.

Sinestesia, contatto, corrispondenza. Non c’è spazio per il banale, per l’ovvio, tutto si muove in un equilibrio cromatico e formale, come quel camminamento sospeso, in cristallo e acciaio, che legando le aree al piano ballatoio, percorre lo spazio con elegante arroganza, lasciando il suo segno chiaro e deciso.

Il vetro assume qui il ruolo di elemento separatore, di guida sinusoidale, armonica, e nello stesso tempo “dialoga” con l’intorno, trasformandosi, grazie a sofisticati eccitatori elettronici, in un inaspettato diffusore acustico omnidirezionale.

A preview look at this “place” destined to be a private residence, located in one of the most charming streets in the center of Rome.

As you enter you have the feeling of beginning a “path” to discover something intense and unexpected.

Alternating compressions and spatial rarefactions, here architecture and technology take on an almost theatrical role, preparing the psyche for the surprise effect with the skilled alternating effects of matter, shape, sound, color and light.

Synesthesia, contact, correspondence. There’s no room for the banal, for the obvious, everything moves in a chromatic and formal balance, like that of a suspension bridge, in crystal and steel, that links the areas to the balcony, moves through the space with arrogant elegance, leaving its clear and decisive mark.

Glass here takes on the role of a separating element, of a sinusoidal guide, harmonic, and at the same time it “dialogues” with the surroundings, transforming itself, thanks to sophisticated electronic exciters, in an unexpected omni-directional acoustic amplifier.

È un esempio eccellente di come architettura e tecnologia possono entrare in simbiosi , fondendosi e amplificando l’una nei confronti dell’altra, la propria capacità comunicativa.

Il tutto nel rispetto dell’eleganza e del minimalismo delle scelte estetiche, coniugando qualità e design anche nella scelta dei componenti elettroacustici dalla raffinata cornice in allumino spazzolato, o nella scelta di tastiere domotiche di gestione dei diversi scenari, in vetro retroilluminato, con le quali il committente può richiamare con un semplice sfioramento molteplici e articolate configurazioni di illuminazione , climatiche, motorizzazioni, entertainment audio-video e sicurezza dell’intera residenza.

A tal proposito ci spiegano l’architetto Marco Giammetta e l’ingegnere Andrea De Martino, che il progetto ha un focus estremamente caratterizzante: il benessere e l’entertainment.

“Da un armonico lavoro in team - afferma l’architetto Giammetta - abbiamo dato vita a spazi polisensoriali. La nostra filosofia intende l’architettura come strumento per creare spazi da vivere, da toccare, un sistema complesso che deve sorprendere attraverso forma, materia, luce, suono e colore... uno strumento in grado di generare sinestesia... tutti i profili sensoriali devono essere stimolati da questo articolato percorso esperienziale” Al piano superiore la meravigliosa SPA a vista cattura gli sguardi e comunica di certo una forte attenzione al tema del benessere e del wellness.

L’uso di sofisticati apparati audio e video,permette al fruitore di continuare il suo viaggio sensoriale richiamando appositi scenari luministici di colore cangiante e differenti selezioni musicali dedicate e create appositamente per tali aree.

It’s an excellent example of how architecture and technology can act in symbiosis, merging and amplifying each other and their communicative skills.

All complying with the elegance and minimalistic aesthetic choices, combining quality and design also in the choice of the electricalacoustical components in the refined context of brushed aluminum, or in the choice of domotic keyboards to manage diverse scenarios, in back-lit glass, with which clients can, simply by a light touch, call up multiple and varied lighting, temperature, motorization, audio-video entertainment and security configurations throughout the residence.

In this respect Marco Giammetta and Andrea De Martino explain that the project has a primary focus: wellness and entertainment.

“Thanks to harmonious team work - states Giammetta - we were able to realize multi-sensorial spaces. Our philosophy is that architecture is an instrument to create spaces to live in, to touch, a complex system that must surprise through form, matter, light, sound and color... an instrument capable of generating synethesia... all the sensorial profiles must be stimulated by this broad experience path ”.

On the upper floor the wonderful viewable spa captures all eyes and surely communicates a strong attention to the subject of well-being and wellness.

The use of sophisticated audio and video equipment enables clients to continue their sensorial journey, calling on certain light scenarios with bright and different colors, dedicated musical selections as well as those especially created for said areas.

Così ribadisce l’ingegnere Andrea De Martino: “Lusso è rendere più reale possibile un proprio sogno. Aiutare i nostri clienti a realizzare dimore uniche, come un abito su misura, che diviene estensione del proprio essere è il nostro obiettivo.

La sensazione è stata di fare una chiacchierata con un’icona della storia del costume, un artista sensibile e geniale a tutto tondo. Ci racconta di avere una grande passione per la musica da sempre, di avere un orecchio ‘quasi assoluto’e di aver sognato di fare il concertista.

We are talking about a gentleman of Haute Couture: Renato Balestra.

Luxury files was honored to interview him, and notwithstanding his full agenda he welcomed us warmly in the marvelous Palazzo Balestra that so reflects the elegance, the style and the philosophy of the brand. The feeling one has is of a chat with an icon of fashion history, a sensitive and multi-talented genius. He tells us of his great feeling for music since he was very young, he possesses a near perfect ear and he dreamed of being a concert musician.

L’arte in genere fa innegabilmente parte del suo DNA: a 7 anni suonava , a 12 anni dipingeva ad olio e a 14 leggeva Dostoevskij. Ha da sempre adorato il canto, il teatro e l’Opera. Scopriamo dunque un conoscitore incredibile e carismatico di ogni arte, che ci trasmette con autentica passione aspetti di Renato Balestra forse meno noti ai più.

Da qui il suo legame speciale con il mondo dell’Opera, oltre ad aver realizzato i costumi per le più celebri rappresentazioni ci svela che sta attualmente lavorando ad un grosso progetto per il teatro che scopriremo nel 2017. E ci racconta con emozione e coinvolgimento un aneddoto che ne testimonia anche la profonda umiltà. Quando a Brodway attorno ad un tavolo Renato Balestra mostrò i suoi disegni per gli abiti di un noto musical, dopo un attimo di silenzio il feedback fu: “questi non sono bozzetti, sono delle opere d’arte”.

Ci dice: “Il mio cuore aveva smesso di battere per un istante e quella frase mi fece tornare il respiro”.

Ecco questa è la straordinaria eccellenza di Balestra, il maestro che dal disegno parte, crea su carta per poi plasmare la materia. Le stoffe e gli abiti prendono letteralmente forma dalle sue mani attraverso un processo creativo fortissimo, a cui è impossibile resistere. Balestra afferma che le sue collezioni nascono sempre da un’ispirazione ma che poi il flusso di emozioni che riceve viene tradotto in abiti attraverso moltissimi passaggi, analisi, ripensamenti e modifiche. È estremamente esigente e mai soddisfatto, - ci dice - un perfezionista che pensa di poter fare sempre meglio. Sente di dover ringraziare questo mestiere che gli ha consentito di conoscere dai Kennedy ai Marcus o i Rockefeller, attori e attrici, regine e scrittori; personaggi famosi, e non solo, ovunque nel mondo e ribadisce: “l’incontro con ogni essere umano è per me un’emozione, sempre”.

Art undoubtedly is part of his DNA: at 7 he played a musical instrument, at 12 he painted in oils and at 14 he read Dostoevsky. He has always adored singing, the theater and the opera. We therefore discover an incredible and charismatic connoisseur of all the arts, who transmits to us with true passion certain aspects of Renato Balestra known perhaps to just a few. This led to his special link with the world of opera, in addition to designing the costumes for the most famous works he revealed to us that he is currently working on a huge project for the theater that will be revealed in 2017. And he excitedly tells us an anecdote that confirms his modesty. When on Broadway around a discussion table Renato Balestra showed his designs for the costumes for a well-known musical, after a second of silence the feedback was: “these aren’t drafts, these are works of art”.

He tells us: “My heart had stopped beating for a second and that phrase brought my breath back”.

This is Balestra’s extraordinary talent, the artist who starts with a sketch, he creates on paper to then shape the material. Fabrics and dresses literally take shape in his hands through an intense creative process, impossible to deny.

Balestra states that his collections are always the fruit of an inspiration but that then the flow of emotions that he receives is transformed in clothing through numerous steps, analyses, rethinking and changes. He is extremely demanding and never satisfied, he says, a perfectionist who thinks he can always do better still. He feels the need to thank this skill that enabled him to meet people from the Kennedys to Marcus or the Rockefellers, actors and actresses, queens and writers; famous people and others, all over the world, and states: “meeting each human being for me is always an emotion”.

Unsurprisingly his agenda for the next few months is full: awards, acknowledgements, exhibitions and fashion shows all over the world don’t just happen to anyone.

Renato Balestra, as many talented Italians, perhaps reaps more acclaim abroad than in Italy.

From Belgrade, where 180 of his models were shown in a choreographic event dedicated to him: an emotional and lengthy standing ovation. To Miami, where an important exhibition will celebrate the story and the style of Renato Balestra. To London, where he will shortly receive an award promoted by the British Fashion Council and by the Asian Couture Federation.

He is working on the Haute Couture S/S 2017 collection, and we ask him for some hints.

And surprisingly he reveals a small secret: “I call tell you that most probably the iconic Balestra blue will not be present”, to which though he dedicated this winter’s collection: “Blu, amore mio”.

One of the keys to the Balestra success, in our opinion, is that the business is still all Italian, with a strong family tradition.

And in this respect he underlines: “This is my luxury, that of choosing freedom, of always being myself without needing to compromise or giving in to market dictates, of not being beholden to anyone. To me this is luxury, I don’t have my own plane or material things, rather emotional freedom”.

Non a caso la sua agenda dei prossimi mesi parla chiaro: premi, riconoscimenti, mostre e sfilate in ogni angolo di mondo non sono tributi che giungono a caso.

Renato Balestra come molte eccellenze italiane forse riscuote maggiormente i meritati onori all’estero e meno in patria.

Da Belgrado dove hanno sfilato suoi 180 modelli in una coreografica serata-evento a lui dedicata: un’emozionante e lunghissima ovazione. A Miami, dove una grande mostra celebrerà il percorso e lo stile di Renato Balestra.

A Londra, dove a breve riceverà un premio promosso dal British Fashion Council e dall’Asian Couture Federation.

Sta lavorando alla collezione Haute Couture S/S 2017, di cui gli chiediamo qualche anticipazione.

E a sorpresa ci svela una piccola e grande anteprima: “Posso dirvi che probabilmente non ci sarà l’iconico blu Balestra” a cui invece ha dedicato la collezione di questo inverno: “Blu, amore mio”.

Tra le grandi chiavi di successo dell’azienda Balestra c’è a nostro avviso - l’essere ancora tutta italiana e con una tradizione familiare forte.

E a tal proposito il Couturier sottolinea: “Questo è stato il mio lusso, l’aver scelto la libertà, di essere stato sempre me stesso senza scendere a compromessi o cedere a logiche di mercato, di non dover dipendere da nessuno. Questo è per me lusso, non possedere un aereo privato o cose materiali ma piuttosto la libertà emotiva”.

FIDUCIA Questa è la storia di due giovani imprenditori con un pizzico di audacia e quella marcia in più che ci piace raccontare e condividere. Stiamo parlando di Fabrizio Schilirò e Crescenzo Coppola, fondatori di Ci. Effe International Consulting, che quest’anno festeggia il suo decimo compleanno.

Una sfida vinta e soprattutto un bell’esempio del migliore approccio imprenditoriale tutto ‘Made in Italy’, innovativo e proattivo.

Ci.Effe nasce del 2006 dalle considerevoli esperienze del settore Beauty & Wellness dei due soci. Vivendo il mercato, lavorando come consulenti e commerciali per multinazionali del primo ambito di riferimento, oltre al legame dell’amicizia, i due avevano riscontrato alcune criticità comuni nel settore: disorganizzazione, difficoltà nel gestire i rapporti di lavoro e di regolarli, crisi e decrementi nei fatturati, problemi di comunicazione con i clienti. È in questo scenario che nasce il sogno: creare un’azienda che riportasse Fiducia, Integrità e Passione (i tre valori da cui tutto ha origine) tra le attività e i professionisti, un’azienda che mirasse al mercato ma che al tempo stesso mirasse “a cambiare le cose” partendo sempre dalle persone.

A challenge won and above all a fine example of the best entrepreneurial ‘Made in Italy’ approach, innovative and proactive.

Ci.Effe was founded in 2006 thanks to the considerable experience in the beauty and wellness sector acquired by the two partners. Living the market, working as consultants and agents for multinational companies in that field, as well as their friendship, the two had consequently observed a certain number of critical factors: disorganization, difficulty in handling and managing work relationships, crises and decreases in turnover, communication problems with clients.

This is the context that led to the dream: create a company that brought back trust, integrity and passion (three fundamental values) to businesses and professionals, a company that aimed at the market but that at the same time aimed “at changing things around”, starting from the persons themselves.

Un progetto ambizioso e ricco di insidie, che tuttavia ottenne da subito un ottimo successo.

“All’inizio i clienti si affidavano a noi cercando una spalla su cui poggiarsi e un aiuto concreto” racconta Fabrizio Schilirò, Amministratore Unico di Ci. Effe. “Il nostro modo di operare era davvero nuovo sul mercato: noi volevamo semplicemente aiutare con la nostra esperienza, e crescere insieme ai nostri primi clienti”. E così è stato: in dieci anni l’azienda ha raggiunto centinaia di attività, assunto dipendenti, creato una fitta rete di partner e fornitori ma soprattutto ha sostenuto e accompagnato la sana crescita di chi ha scelto di credere in questa modalità di fare Business.

Una crescita costante e un occhio attento alle dinamiche di mercato hanno fatto sì che in poco tempo i servizi offerti si perfezionassero sempre più, fino al 2015, quando con un grande salto c’è stata una svolta strategica: l’incursione in altri settori di business affini a quello ‘core’.

Accanto al settore Beauty, sono nate così le divisioni del Fashion e del Food.

Nel concreto oggi Ci. Effe. si occupa di aiutare le aziende sia sul profilo Business che su quello People, attraverso un lavoro parallelo di Consulenza Commerciale e Formazione.

L’obiettivo finale è sempre quello di creare strategie di crescita da tutti i punti di vista, che non tralascino nessuno dei due aspetti “cuore” di ogni realtà: i risultati sul mercato e le persone che li rendono possibili con il loro lavoro.

An ambitious project, fraught with difficulties, that nonetheless was immediately successful.

Fabrizio Schilirò, Sole Administrator of Ci.Effe, tells us: “At the beginning, clients came to us looking for a shoulder to lean on and concrete help. Our operating methods were truly innovative for the market: we simply wanted to help through our experience, and grow together with our first clients”. And so it began: in ten years the company has reached hundreds of businesses, hired employees, created a tight network of partners and suppliers but above all it sustained and accompanied the healthy growth of those who decided to believe in this way of doing business.

A steady growth with a careful eye to market dynamics ensured that in just a brief span of time the services offered were perfected even more until, in 2015, when a great leap was taken with a strategic decision: the incursion into other business sectors similar to its “core” sector.

In addition to the beauty sector, the fashion and food departments were thus also created.

In the specific, today Ci.Effe helps companies both with their business as well as with people, through a parallel work of business consultation and training.

The end goal is always that of creating growth strategies from all points of view, ones that do not neglect any of the two “soul” aspects of any reality: market results and the persons who make it possible through their work.

Now in their tenth year, it was impossible not to think about celebrating all those great achievements reached and take strength to face new challenges.

“For our tenth anniversary we decided to talk about our spirit with a special event, once again dedicated to both companies and persons” explains Crescenzo Coppola, Sales Director.

“We are especially proud of instituting the CIEFFE Award: the objective in this case is to build trust in those realities that each day operate in the market with criteria very similar to our own. Whether they deal with training or growth, we want to recognize those who, like us, believed in a dream and have realized a structure that brings it to life. We are fully aware what it means to start from the beginning and that’s why we want to make available our experience and our expertise, as well as our know how”.

Arrivati al decimo anno di attività, era impossibile pensare di non celebrare tutti i bei traguardi raggiunti e farsi forza per affrontare le nuove sfide.

“Per i nostri dieci anni abbiamo deciso di raccontare a tutto tondo il nostro spirito con un evento speciale, dedicato ancora una volta sia alle aziende, che alle persone” spiega Crescenzo Coppola, Direttore Commerciale.

“In modo particolare siamo felicissimi di aver istituito il PREMIO CIEFFE: l’obiettivo in questo caso è quello di dare fiducia a realtà che ogni giorno operano sul mercato con criteri molto simili ai nostri. Che si tratti di formazione o di crescita, vogliamo premiare chi, come noi, ha creduto in un sogno e ha realizzato una struttura per dargli vita. Sappiamo bene cosa significhi iniziare da zero ed è per questo che vogliamo mettere a disposizione la nostra esperienza e il nostro trascorso, oltre che il nostro know how”. CHANEL La donna che legge è il settimo episodio di CULTURE CHANEL, in mostra a Venezia fino all'8 gennaio.

Questa volta l'universo di Gabrielle Chanel è raccontato dalla prospettiva inedita del suo rapporto con la letteratura e gli scrittori. Per la prima volta viene svelata ed esposta la biblioteca di Mademoiselle Chanel che rivela una fervida lettrice. Tutto questo nella cornice evocativa della magica Venezia, uno dei suoi principali luoghi d’ispirazione, città iconica che da sempre ha stimolato l’universo estetico di Mademoiselle Chanel. Gli ori veneziani brillavano nel suo appartamento di rue Cambon, dove le pareti erano di tela di juta dipinta d’oro, decorate con grandi specchi, mensole e Mori scolpiti in legno che richiamavano l’atmosfera raffinata e barocca dei palazzi della Serenissima.

This time the world of Gabrielle Chanel is told from the unusual perspective of her relationship with literature and writers. For the first time Mademoiselle Chanel’s library is revealed and displayed, and shows that she was an avid reader. All of this against the magical backdrop of Venice, one of her main sources of inspiration, an iconic city which never failed to stimulate the aesthetic world of Mademoiselle Chanel. Venetian gold shone in her apartment in Rue Cambon, where the walls were hung with canvas, painted in gold, decorated with large mirrors, shelves and wood-sculpted Moors so evocative of the refined baroque atmosphere of palaces in the Venice of the Serenissima.

I numerosi gioielli e oggetti liturgici bizantini, le croci e i reliquiari, le ispirarono sontuosi gioielli, ma anche alcuni preziosi abiti ricamati con filo d’oro.

Il leone, legato all’immagine di San Marco, Santo patrono della città, ne è l’emblema. E proprio sotto questo segno, è nata Mademoiselle Chanel, il 19 agosto 1883.

Nel suo appartamento ovunque oggetti d’arte con l'effigie del leone e non a caso la testa di leone è elemento decorativo frequente delle sue creazioni, da sempre.

The many jewels and Byzantine liturgical objects, the crosses and reliquaries, all inspired sumptuous jewels, but also some of the precious apparel embroidered with gold threads.

The lion, linked to the image of Saint Mark, patron saint of the city, is the symbol. And Mademoiselle Chanel was in fact born under this sign, on August 19, 1883. Her apartment consequently holds many objets d’art depicting lions and it is no surprise that a lion’s head was a frequent decorative element in her creations, from the very beginning.

La mostra compie un percorso - la biblioteca di Coco ne è il fulcro - che si sviluppa attorno a quattro sequenze: La vita che conduciamo, Le confidenze dell’invisibile, Thoughts that make you think e Gli aspetti del tempo.

Circa 350 pezzi, capaci di restituirci il ritratto intimo di una creatrice - con le sue letture - che ha saputo fare della propria vita una leggenda.

Libri, numerose dediche, archivi, fotografie, quadri, disegni, oggetti d’arte provenienti dal suo appartamento, gioielli e profumi entrano in risonanza con un guardaroba di creazioni di moda, firmato da Karl Lagerfeld, che svelano, al pari di una biblioteca, il vocabolario estetico ideato da Gabrielle Chanel e costantemente arricchito nel tempo: dall’importanza del disegno, alla predilezione per il classicismo, dall’attrazione per il barocco, al suo amore per la Russia e gli ori veneziani.

Coco confidò all’amico Paul Morand: “I libri sono stati i miei migliori amici”.

Tuttavia, frequentare i libri costituisce sempre un paradosso: è il silenzio della lettura che le apre gli occhi sul mondo e che le permette, al contempo, di fuggire da esso, di sognare il suo destino, di costruire se stessa trovando nelle opere, gelosamente custodite, la forza e i mezzi per scrivere la propria leggenda.

The exhibition follows a path - Coco’s library is the focal point - that covers four sequences: The life we lead, The confidences of the invisible, Thoughts that make you think and The aspects of time. Approximately 350 items, that restore the private portrait of a designer, with her books, who knew how to make her life a legend.

Books, many dedications, archives, photographs, pictures, designs, objets d’art from her apartment, jewels and perfumes reflect her fashion creations, by Karl Lagerfeld, which reveal, just like her library, the aesthetic vocabulary created by Gabrielle Chanel and continuously enriched over time: from the importance of a sketch, to the preference for classicism, from the attraction for the baroque, to her love for Russia and Venetian gold.

Coco once confided to her friend Paul Morand: “Books have been my best friends”.

Nonetheless, frequenting books always constitutes a paradox: it’s the silence of reading that opened her eyes to the world and at the same time enabled her to escape from it, to dream of her destiny, to build herself, finding, in the works jealously conserved, the strength and the means to write her own legend.

La donna che legge si apre proprio su un appunto scritto di proprio pugno da Gabrielle Chanel: “La vita che conduciamo non è mai granché, la vita che sogniamo è invece la grande esistenza perché la continueremo oltre la morte”.

Leggere e sognare la propria vita fino a volerne modificare il corso, è ciò che contraddistingue anche Emma Bovary. Il manoscritto del più celebre romanzo di Gustave Flaubert, pubblicato nel 1856, è esposto eccezionalmente in occasione della mostra.

Si percorre un dialogo attraverso le epoche, che va dall’Antichità fino ai contemporanei, costellato delle opere di Sofocle, Virgilio, Rabelais, Shakespeare, Montaigne, Madame de Sévigné, Baudelaire, Verlaine, Barbey d’Aurevilly, Lautréamont, Rilke, Proust, Claudel, Apollinaire e Mallarmé.

La scrittura poetica costituisce il cuore della biblioteca e la poesia, a cui Mademoiselle Chanel è profondamente legata, le ha permesso di stringere legami di amicizia profondi con personaggi straordinari come Jean Cocteau, Max Jacob, Pierre Reverdy, che le dedicarono poesie e lettere.

Dunque una mostra, un percorso esperienziale, una misteriosa scoperta e un viaggio interiore che conduce ad inaspettate riflessioni.

A woman who reads opens with a note written by Gabrielle Chanel herself: “The life we lead is never much, instead the life we dream is the great existence because we will continue it after death”.

Reading and dreaming one’s life to the point of modifying its course, that’s what also distinguishes Emma Bovary. The manuscript of Gustave Flaubert’s most famous novel, published in 1856, is on display during the exhibition, an exceptional event in its own right.

Poetic writings constitute the heart of the library and poetry, which profoundly affected Mademoiselle Chanel, enabled her to form sincere friendships with such extraordinary persons as Jean Cocteau, Max Jacob, Pierre Reverdy, who dedicated poetry and letters to her.

Thus, an exhibition, an experience, a mysterious discovery and an intimate journey that leads to unexpected reflections.

PARADE

Venezia, Roma, Torino. Tre rassegne differenti con un comune denominatore: portare il meglio della filmografia mondiale nelle sale italiane. Obiettivo centrato, soprattutto per la Festa del Cinema nella capitale che, grazie alla competenza e alla sensibilità del suo direttore artistico, Antonio Monda, ha incassato in questa edizione più pubblico (18%), più star, più visibilità sui media internazionali. Il redcarpet veneziano by Alberto Barbera ha forse ha brillato meno, e anche i film in concorso hanno convinto più i cinefili accaniti del pubblico (c’è da dire che non aiuta la quasi sovrapposizione con la rassegna di Toronto, da cui Monda ha potuto invece attingere copiosamente). Torino, a fine novembre, dirà la sua, come ha sempre fatto, grazie a un’attenzione speciale al suo pubblico di studenti e giovani accademici, zoccolo duro della rassegna.

Aspettando le uscite dei film nelle sale, ecco a nostro avviso storie e protagonisti da non perdere nei prossimi mesi.

MOVIES PARADE Venice, Rome, Turin. Three different festivals with a common denominator: bring the best of movies from around the world to Italian theaters. A success, especially for the Rome Film Festival which, thanks to the expertise and sensitivity of its Artistic Director, Antonio Monda, in this edition registered an increase in spectators (18%), more stars, more visibility with international media. The Venetian red carpet by Alberto Barbera perhaps shone a bit less, and even the competing films were more appreciated by hard-nose fans and less by the public (it must be said that the close proximity with the Toronto festival did not help, from which Monda was instead able to take his full). Turin, at the end of November, will have its say, as it has always done, thanks to special attention paid to its public composed of students and young academics, the heart of the festival.

While we wait to see the movies in theaters, here is a brief list of stories and protagonists to watch out for in coming months.

CAPTAIN FANTASTIC di Matt Ross (vincitore del Premio del Pubblico BNL, Roma). Uno strepitoso e sempre fascinoso ViggoMortensen fa da guida ai 6 figli, per un’educazione (eco)sostenibile e anticapitalista in questa commedia hindi che si è meritata tanti applausi. Inno tardo-hippy di rara grazia e simpatia, giovani interpreti strepitosi e nella parte.

Perché vederlo: per sentirsi un po’ anni Settanta anche in questi tempi poco rivoluzionari. E riscoprire il boy-scout che è in noi.

CAPTAIN FANTASTIC

by Matt Ross (winner of the Premio del Pubblico BNL, Rome). An extraordinary and always fascinating Viggo Mortensen schools his six children, for an (eco)sustainable and anti-capitalistic education in this hindi comedy that deserved heartfelt applause. A late tribute of rare grace and feeling to hippies, excellent youngsters adroitly acting out their roles.

Why we should see it: to go back a bit to the Seventies even in these too-little revolutionary times. And to rediscover the boy-scout within us.

7:19 di Jorge Grau (selezione ufficiale Roma). Praticamente a costo 0: set inesistente, solo 2 i protagonisti che per quasi tutto il film reggono la faticosa parte dei sepolti vivi sotto le macerie del crollo di un palazzo governativo a Città del Messico, dopo un terremoto. Cronaca poco catastrofica e molto intimista, di ciò che provano il guardiano notturno Martin e l'alto funzionario Fernando, mentre lottano tra la vita e la morte in attesa che qualcuno li tiri fuori.

Perché vederlo: per la straordinaria recitazione, che fa sentire tutte le tonalità della paura e della speranza di 2 piccoli grandi uomini.

7:19 by Jorge Grau (official Rome choice). With hardly any costs: non-existing set, only two protagonists who for nearly the entire film play the difficult role of being buried alive under the remains of a government building that collapsed in Mexico City, in the aftermath of an earthquake. Not very catastrophic but very intimate tale, the story of what night watchman Martin and top manager Fernando go through while they fight for their lives waiting for someone to get them out.

Why we should see it: for the extraordinary acting, which brings out all the tones of fear and hope of two little big men.

GEUMUL (The net)di KimKi-duk (fuori concorso Venezia). Forse piacerà meno ai fan cinefili del regista, a noi ha convinto per la commovente e mai banale rappresentazione del conflitto tra le due Coree, attraverso la storia di un povero pescatore intrappolato nella rete delle ideologie. Non esiste un peggio e un meglio, esiste la cieca obbedienza di burocrati e soldati a regole piovute dall’alto, in entrambi i Paesi.

Perché vederlo: per la morale, che pone tutti davanti ai limiti di democrazia e dittatura, film intenso e suggestivo, di un realismo che ricorda Rossellini.

GEUMUL (The net) by KimKi-duk (non-competing in Venice). Perhaps it will be less appealing to the director’s fans, we liked it for the moving and never banal representation of the conflict between North and South Korea, through the story of a poor fisherman trapped in the net of ideologies. There is no worse or a better, there is blind obedience of bureaucrats and soldiers to rules rained down from on high, in both countries.

Why we should see it: for the moral, which puts everyone before the limits of democracy and dictatorship, an intense and haunting film, a realism reminiscent of Rossellini.

ARRIVAL di Denis Villeneuve (in concorso a Venezia).

Dramma fantascientifico che sgombra gli stereotipi del genere fin dal frame iniziale: 12 navi aliene, posizionate verticalmente a 1 km da terra, dominano dall’alto, senza fare nulla, le forze speciali che in tutto il mondo si agitano per capire come comunicare con gli extraterrestri.

Proverà a risolvere l’enigma (con un non scontato finale) Louise, esperta di linguistica (Amy Adams).

Perché vederlo: per seguire il percorso del regista di BladeRunner (in dirittura finale il sequel) che non lascerà delusi gli estimatori del genere.

ARRIVAL by Denis Villeneuve (competing in Venice).
