IL VERO LUSSO È POTERNE FARE A MENO Il titolo è stato ispirato da una frase di Bruno Bonsignore, presidente di Assoetica, al quale avevo chiesto, come ad altri, una definizione sul lusso. Tra le tante risposte, ne scelgo alcune. Francesca Albanese: “Associo il lusso alle categorie estetiche della bellezza, dell’eleganza e della raffinatezza, ‘talenti’ che possono appartenere a chiunque al di là delle proprie capacità finanziarie. Tuttavia, anche dissociando il lusso dalla 'pacchianeria’ dello sfoggio, credo che rimanga qualcosa che ‘non è per tutti.

Legare il lusso all’eccellenza è la strada migliore, ma credo sia tutt'altro che facile affiancarlo ai temi dell’etica”.

Giancarlo Currò: “Mi viene in mente il termine ‘distanza’ se cerco di spiegare cos'è per me il lusso. In un'accezione positiva: distanza dal normale, dall'usuale, dal regolare, dal pedissequo e dal quotidiano, dalle copie, dal falso, dalla crisi. Concedersi una distanza, pensare o essere distanti, distinguersi oltre tutto ciò che è banale, previsto o comunque risaputo”.

Fabrizia Peris: “Avere la libertà di scelta”.

Francesca Pellegrini: “È un desiderio irrealizzabile che per una volta di riesce a realizzare”.

Umberto Santucci: “Il lusso è il raro: il silenzio, la calma, i tempi giusti, lo spazio. È fare cose che gli altri normalmente non fanno: camminare la mattina presto lungo il fiume assaporando i nuovi fiori, il grano, gli odori dei campi, sempre uguali e sempre diversi. Il lusso è ignorare il PIL e la crescita, e decrescere in modo armonioso e rispettoso di sé, degli altri, del mondo, sostituendo la convivialità alla competitività.

Il lusso infine è la differenza fra vivere bene e vivere male: io cerco il più possibile di vivere così, quindi ritengo di vivere nel lusso”.

Giancarlo Currò: "The term 'distance' occurs to me, if I try to explain what is luxury. In a positive sense: distance from the ordinary, the usual, the standard, the slavish and everyday life, from the imitations, the false, the crisis. It means taking the distance, thinking to be or being far-away, standing out over all that is trivial, expected or otherwise known."

Fabrizia Peris: "Having the freedom of choice."

Francesca Pellegrini: "It is an impossible wish that for once you can realize."

Umberto Santucci: "Luxury is rare: it is silence, quietness, right timing, space. It is doing things that other people don’t usually do: walking in the early morning along the river enjoying new flowers, the wheat, the smells of fields, always the same and always different. Luxury is to ignore the GDP and the economic growth, and to decrease in a harmonious and respectful of self, others, the world, replacing competitiveness with conviviality.

Finally, luxury is the difference between living well and living awful: I try to live like that as much as possible, so I think to live in luxury."

GUCCI E LA RESPONSABILITÀ SOCIALE Avviare un’attività di analisi e di conseguente riduzione dell’impatto ambientale del settore della moda e del lusso. È questo l’obiettivo alla base dell’Accordo Volontario siglato a Milano, in apertura della Settimana di Milano Moda Donna e in coincidenza della sfilata primavera/estate 2013 di Gucci, fra Corrado Clini, Ministro dell’Ambiente e della Tutela del Territorio e del Mare, e Patrizio di Marco, Presidente e CEO della maison fiorentina. Il progetto è finalizzato alla valutazione dell’impronta ambientale e al calcolo dei cosiddetti "eco-costs" di alcuni fra i più rappresentativi prodotti Gucci, per arrivare ad avere dei processi e prodotti certificati secondo norme e standard internazionali. Gucci – prima azienda del settore del lusso a muoversi in questa direzione – si è impegnata perciò a condurre una valutazione delle emissioni di CO2 prodotte all’interno della propria filiera produttiva, con l’obiettivo di ridurle. L’accordo con il Ministero prevede inoltre la valutazione dell’impatto etico-sociale, attraverso un monitoraggio dei parametri di qualità del lavoro e della vita delle persone e comunità coinvolte. I primi risultati saranno disponibili entro la fine del 2013.

Starting with a business analysis and consequent reduction of the environmental impact of the fashion industry and luxury: this is the goal of the Voluntary Agreement signed in Milan, at the opening of Milan Fashion Week, before the Gucci fashion show spring/summer 2013 among Corrado Clini, Minister for the Environment, Land and Sea, and Patrizio di Marco, President and CEO of the historical maison from Florence. The project is aimed at assessing the environmental footprint and the calculation of so-called "eco-costs" of some of the most representative Gucci products, to get to have the processes and products certified according to international standards. Gucci - the first company in the luxury world to move in this direction - is committed, therefore, to conduct an assessment of CO2 emissions in the production chain, with the aim of reducing them. The agreement with the Minister also provides for the assessment of the social and ethical, by monitoring the parameters of quality of work and life of people and communities involved. The first results will be available by the end of 2013.

E anche oggi l'Italia è sul tetto del mondo, questa volta non per l'alta cucina ma per l'arte dell'accoglienza e del servizio. Il premio "Grand Prix de l'Art de la Salle" uno dei quattro Grand Prix internazionali assegnati dall'influente associazione che riunisce 27 Paesi della gastronomia mondiale - è infatti andato ad Umberto Giraudo, maître de La Pergola dell'Hotel Rome Cavalieri. Il "padrone di casa" del ristorante tre stelle Michelin di Heinz Beck ha già in passato collezionato altri premi, tra cui quello di Cavaliere dell'Ordine al Merito della Repubblica Italiana, onorificenza ricevuta dal Presidente della Repubblica Italiana nel 2005.

COACHING BY ENRICO COGNO / COME STIMOLARE L’INNOVAZIONE Ecco una tecnica efficace per creare idee: il “listing”. È un elenco di “domande stimolanti” ideato da Alex Osborn, l’autore del Brainstorming, particolarmente adatto a individuare nuovi utilizzi di prodotti, servizi o soluzioni progettuali. Serve soprattutto per superare i vecchi approcci difficili da abbandonare. Una variante, che rientra nel novero delle tante check list esistenti, è il modello di Bib Eberle definito SCAMPER, un acronimo ottenuto dalle iniziali di sette domande. Sono migliaia i casi di prodotti o servizi innovativi frutto del “listing”: da invenzioni di oggetti utensili, ai modelli aerei, al packaging, a progetti industriali, a modifiche alle autovetture, ai capi di abbigliamento ecc. Ecco le sette domande-guida dello SCAMPER:

SUBSTITUTE = SOSTITUIRE. Cosa si può trasformare in altra componente? (Tipico è il caso di un nuovo termos al quale è stato eliminato il tappo di chiusura, facilmente perdibile, sostituito da una ghiera in plastica che, torcendosi, consente l’apertura e la chiusura ermetica della bocca del termos).

COMBINE = COMBINARE. Si può collegare l’idea ad altre? È possibile scomporlo in sotto-elementi o combinarlo con altri prodotti? (Le nuove applicazioni degli Smartphone sono un’enciclopedia di esempi in tal senso).

ADAPT = ADATTARE. A cosa assomiglia questa idea? Esistono dei parallelismi? Cosa sarebbe possibile imitare? (In un albergo fiorentino, sorto sulle rovine di un mulino a vento e alla ricerca di nuove forme di energia pulita, sono state “adattate” le vecchie pale, attualizzandole con moderne forme eoliche).

MODIFY, MAXIMIZE, MINIMIZE = MODIFICARE, AMPLIARE, RIDURRE. È possibile modificarne l’aspetto, il movimento, la dimensione, la forma, l’odore, aumentarne la frequenza, la distanza? È possibile togliere qualcosa, accorciare, assottigliare, alleggerire, schiarire, rifinire? Si può dividere, utilizzare in miniatura? (Molte forme di packaging hanno modificato i materiali, come nel caso del cartone paraffinato al posto del vetro in molti casi tipi di vino e di latte).

PUT TO OTHER USE = DIVERSO UTILIZZO. Esiste una diversa modalità d’impiego? (È tipico il caso di una chiave inglese ad uso dei velisti che, anziché in ferro, è stata prodotta in legno e plastica, per galleggiare in caso di caduta in acqua).

ELIMINATE = ELIMINARE. Cos’è possibile sostituire? Il processo si può organizzare diversamente levando qualcosa?

(Un utilizzo creativo di un avanzo di dentifricio può servire a levare completamente le macchie di colore dal muro, quando i bambini scambiano la parete del soggiorno per una nuova Cappella Sistina).

REVERSE, REARRANGE = CAPOVOLGERE. L’idea può essere rovesciata, invertita, messa sottosopra. Si può invertite la sequenza d’uso? Come appare l’idea vista specularmente?

(Tipico il caso di una località troppo ventosa per poter ospitare un campo di golf che è stata destinata a centro velico).

Queste domande hanno lo scopo di forzare la modifica dei punti di vista. Ricordiamoci l’avviso di Stanislaw Lec: “La cosa più difficile non è tanto avere nuove idee, quanto abbandonare quelle vecchie”. Rendiamo più libera la nostra mente con una serie di stimoli. Anche inventando nuove liste di domande.

HOW TO STIMULATE INNOVATION The "listing": it is an effective technique to generate ideas. It is a list of "inspiring questions" created by Alex Osborn ???the author of Brainstorming technique ?– that is particularly suited to identify new uses for products, services or design solutions. It is primarily used to overcome the old approaches that are difficult to discard. A variant of this technique, which is one of the many checklist created, is the model of Bob Eberle called SCAMPER, an acronym made from the initial letters of seven questions. Thousands of examples of innovative products or services are the result of the "listing" technique: from the inventions of tools to airplanes models, packaging, industrial projects, from cars modifications to clothes adjustments, etc. Here are the seven guide questions of the SCAMPER method:

SUBSTITUTE. What can we transform into other element?

(Typical is the case of a new flask to which the closing cap has been eliminated, because easy to lose, and it has been replaced by a plastic locking ring, that allows both the opening and the hermetic closure of the flask).

COMBINE. Is it possible to link the idea with others? Can you break it down into sub-elements or combine it with other products? (New smartphones applications are the most perfect illustration of this).

ADAPT. What does it look like this idea? Are there any similarities? What would it be possible to imitate?

I.e. In a hotel built on the ruins of a windmill in Florence, looking for new forms of clean energy, the blades have been "adjusted" to the windpower system.

MODIFY, MAXIMIZE, MINIMIZE. You can change a certain something appearance, movement, size, shape, smell, increase its frequency, its distance? Is it possible to remove, reduce, thin, light, bright, refine something? Can you can split it or use it in miniature?

(Many packaging forms have modified the materials, like the case of waxed cardboards instead of glass materials for wine and milk).

PUT TO OTHER USE. Is there a different direction of use?

(Typical is the case of a wrench used by sailors which was produced in wood and plastic, instead of iron, to float if it dropped in water).

ELIMINATE. What can be replaced? Can the process be arranged differently by removing something?

I.e. A creative use of a toothpaste surplus can be used to completely remove color stains from walls, when children mistake the living room for a new Sistine Chapel.

REVERSE, REARRANGE. The idea can be inverted, reversed or turned upside down. Can you reverse the sequence patterns? How does the idea appear in reverse?

I.e. Typical is the case of a too windy place for a golf course that was transformed into a sailing center.

These questions are intended to force points of view modifications. Let us remember the warning of Stanislaw Lec: "The hardest thing is not to have new ideas, but to leave the old ones." Let us give more freedom to our intellect with a series of incentives, even putting down new lists of questions.

In Skyfall, la lealtà di Mr. Bond verso M - Judi Dench appare messa a dura prova quando il suo passato tornerà a perseguitarla. Quando il MI6 verrà messo sotto assedio, 007 dovrà scovare e distruggere la minaccia, non importa a quale costo, tutto è in gioco. Skyfall è stato girato tra la Turchia, Shanghai e le Highlands scozzesi anche se la la maggior parte del film è ambientato a Londra con le sue inconfondibili atmosfere.

Il regista Sam Mendes ha dichiarato alla stampa internazionale: “Per me, bisogna mettere i personaggi in una situazione credibile – in cui improvvisamente diventa quasi impossibile sopravvivere - e poi mostrare come riescano a sopravvivere. Questa è stata la vera sfida”.

Tra queste, si sa, il mercato del lusso è quello nel quale indiscutibilmente il made in Italy esprime il meglio di sé a livello mondiale, per l’inesauribile creatività che da sempre lo contraddistingue, la qualità delle lavorazioni e l’impiego dei materiali e tecniche produttive sempre all’avanguardia.

Non è un caso ad esempio che la crisi del settore auto in Italia abbia risparmiato marchi e aziende impegnate nella produzione di auto di alta gamma, che registrano quotazioni di mercato crescenti proprio in virtù dell’eccellenza dei prodotti proposti.

Medesimo discorso vale per ogni settore produttivo dell’economia nazionale. È di poche settimana fa la notizia che un’impresa veneta è stata scelta da Apple quale fornitrice delle copertine in pelle per Ipad.

Questo invidiabile traguardo - un riconoscimento al quale nessuna azienda al mondo potrebbe o vorrebbe rinunciare - è il risultato della scelta di posizionare l’impresa nel mercato dell’eccellenza, con una prospettiva di medio-lungo periodo di grande respiro e prospettiva.

Quel risultato è allo stesso tempo la cartina di tornasole della grande vitalità del tessuto economico-produttivo italiano, costituito come noto da un elevatissimo numero di piccole e medie imprese che della conduzione familiare e del radicamento sul territorio hanno fatto molto spesso il proprio tratto distintivo.

Realtà imprenditoriali nelle quali il rispetto e la valorizzazione degli stakeholders fanno si che nonostante le enormi difficoltà del mercato europeo, l’Italia rimanga ancora oggi ai primi posti nel mondo nel settore della trasformazione delle materie prime. È interessante notare l’esistenza di un sottile filo conduttore che lega la famosa crisi economica mondiale del ‘29 alle difficoltà finanziarie e industriali nelle quali si dibatte oggi parte dell’economia mondiale.

Si tratta del dibattito sulla governance delle imprese, quella Corporate Social Responsability sulla quale gli economisti cominciarono ad interrogarsi e a dibattere all’indomani della grande depressione del secolo scorso.

Il dibattito verteva (e verte) sulla necessità di incentivare (per taluni di indirizzare attraverso normative ad hoc), coloro che hanno la responsabilità della conduzione di un’impresa a compiere scelte eticamente e socialmente responsabili, orientate al raggiungimento di uno sviluppo sostenibile nel lungo periodo con ricadute benefiche sull’intero sistema sociale e sull’ambiente.

Non è un caso che tale dibattito si riaffacci oggi con rinnovata forza, anche se a dire il vero l’Unione Europea ed alcune organizzazioni sovranazionali (ONU e OCSE) hanno dato prova di lungimiranza, dato che già nei primi anni ‘90 se ne trova ampia traccia in contributi istituzionali sul management strategico.

Non a caso nel 1999 l’allora Segretario Generale delle Nazioni Unite lanciò un appello per la creazione di “un’economia globale più inclusiva e più sostenibile”.

Nel 2001 il Consiglio Europeo di Goteborg approvava per la prima volta una strategia per lo sviluppo sostenibile e l’integrazione delle riforme economiche con la coesione sociale e la dimensione ambientale, considerando per la prima volta lo sviluppo sostenibile come un’opportunità economica e non come un freno alle imprese.

The same goes for every national economy sector. It was just few weeks ago that a company from the Veneto has been selected by Apple as a leather covers supplier for Ipad.

This enviable goal - a recognition that no company in the world could or would give up - is the result of choosing to place the company in the excellence market, with a both medium to long-term and large-scale perspective.

That result is both a litmus test of the Italian economic production vitality, that is composed by a large number of small and medium-sized enterprises which made their hallmark in the family and local roots very often. These are business realities in which respect for and appreciation of stakeholders mean that despite the European market difficulties, Italy still remains at the top in the world in the raw materials processing.

It is interesting to note the existence of a thin thread that ties together the famous ’29 world economic crisis and the today financial difficulties in which industry is struggling part of the global economy.

This is the debate on corporate governance, the Corporate Social Responsibility on which economists began to question and debate in the aftermath of the last century Great Depression.

The debate was -and concerns- the need to encourage for some it meant to address through specific legislationthose who have the conduct responsibility of an enterprise to make ethically and socially responsible choices, focused on achieving sustainable development in the long period with beneficial effects both on the entire social system and the environment.

Tornando all’attualità, se gli istituti finanziari mondiali avessero agito nel rispetto della Corporate Social Responsability, e dunque degli stakeholders nel loro complesso, con tutta probabilità le scelte di investire in prodotti finanziari ad alto rischio non sarebbero state compiute, i bilanci sarebbero stati maggiormente trasparenti e il sistema creditizio avrebbe continuato a finanziare il sistema produttivo delle imprese anziché inseguire facili scorciatoie rappresentate dalla commercializzazione di prodotti finanziari derivati, immessi con tanta e tale leggerezza nel mercato finanziario mondiale da aver comportato infine l’esplosione della bolla speculativa alla quale abbiamo assistito negli ultimi anni.

Purtroppo l’Italia è stata solo in parte al riparo da queste scelte scellerate ed oggi il suo tessuto produttivo ne risente pesantemente; sebbene infatti gli istituti di credito italiani abbiano sofferto meno di altri le conseguenze negative della ridotta liquidità – frutto evidentemente di una gestione maggiormente cauta e più etica da parte dei nostri manager - tuttavia hanno di riflesso trasferito sul sistema delle imprese gli effetti delle difficoltà di capitalizzazione, restringendo, in alcuni casi ben oltre quanto fosse lecito attendersi, il credito alle imprese, con effetti drammatici che hanno determinato la crisi di interi comparti produttivi e la crescita del numero degli inoccupati.

La ricetta che consenta al sistema produttivo italiano di uscire quanto prima dalla crisi, in linea con le raccomandazioni dell’Unione Europea, è di investire in termini eticamente e socialmente responsabili sullo sviluppo di medio e lungo periodo, puntando ancora una volta sull’eccellenza dei prodotti e con il mercato del lusso chiamato a far da volano alla ripresa economica.

Today, it is no coincidence that this debate occurs again with renewed strength, although to tell the truth, the European Union and some supranational organizations -UN and OECD- have proven to be far-sighted, as in the early 90s institutional contributions on strategic management were largely debated. In fact, in 1999 the then Secretary-General of the United Nations launched an appeal for the creation of “a more inclusive and sustainable global economy”. In 2001, the European Council of Gothenburg approved a strategy for sustainable development and the integration of economic reform together with social cohesion and the environmental dimension, considering sustainable development as an economic opportunity and not as an obstacle to business, for the first time.

Back to the current situation, if worldwide financial institutions had acted in line with Corporate Social Responsibility, and therefore for the benefit of their stakeholders as a whole, in all probability the choices to invest in high-risk financial products would not have been made, financial statements would have been more transparent and the banking system would have continued to finance the system of productive enterprise.

Instead, shortcuts were taken, including excessive marketing of financial derivative products issued with such carelessness as to have led to the bursting of the speculative bubble in which we lived in recent years.

Unfortunately, Italy has only partially protected from these wicked choices and today its production heavily feels the effects. Although Italian banks have suffered negative consequences of reduced liquidity less than other countries - evidently as the result of a more cautious and more ethical management followed by our managers - they have consequently transferred the effects of capitalization difficulties, decreasing the lending to enterprises, in some cases well beyond what was expected, with dramatic effects that led to the crisis of entire productive sectors and the growth of unemployment rate.

The recipe that allows the Italian productive system to get out of the crisis as soon as possible, in line with the recommendations of the European Union, is to invest on medium and long term development in ethical and socially responsible terms, once again focusing on the products excellence and the luxury market entitled to be a driving force for the economic recovery.

Autore di numerose pubblicazioni in tema, riveste diversi prestigiosi incarichi in Italia e all’estero. Lo abbiamo incontrato e abbiamo potuto fargli alcune domande.

Avv. Sandri, lei che conosce così bene l’attività dei brands italiani, soprattutto quelli che eccellono nel Made in Italy sul piano internazionale, può svelare il meccanismo che vede queste aziende non subire flessioni in un momento di forte recessione generale?

Il Made in Italy è un bello slogan, ma va smitizzato. Non c’è nulla di miracoloso, ma tanta professionalità, lavoro e qualità delle nostre imprese. L’eccellenza significa innanzi tutto diversità e innovazione.

Ma esse vengono da lontano, e non si improvvisano. Il nostro paese, a riguardo, può vantare l’eredità di una tradizione che ora hanno il potere/dovere di capitalizzare. E questo viene riconosciuto e premiato dal mercato e dai consumatori, al di là della contingenza della recessione.

Quale consiglio può dare a quelle aziende che intendessero seguire questi sentieri di successo?

Osservare e comparare la concorrenza, anche quella illecita, e giocare d’anticipo interpretando le tendenze del mercato e dei consumatori, adattando il brand con flessibilità adeguata ad assicurarsi priorità e competitività. In tal senso, dotarsi di una rete di sensori interpretativi adeguati, può rivelarsi essenziale per un’impresa moderna.

SUCCESSFUL MADE IN ITALY Mr Stefano Sandri - lawyer and professor - is one of the most recognized international experts in intellectual property, in particular about brands and design. He is author of numerous publications on the subject and he fills several important positions in Italy and abroad. We met him for an interview.

Mr. Sandri, you know so well the work of Italian brands, especially those that excel in the “Made in Italy” at international level: could you reveal us the mechanism that allows these companies not to suffer downturns at a time of general deep recession?

The “Made in Italy” is a nice slogan, but it has to be deglamorized. There is nothing miraculous, but a lot of professionalism, efforts and our businesses quality.

Excellence means first of all variety and innovation.

Although they come from afar, and they can’t be improvised. In this regard, our nation can boast about the legacy of a tradition that nowadays these companies have the power /duty of capitalizing. This is recognized and rewarded by the market and customers, beyond the recession contingency.

What advice could you give to those companies that intend to follow the paths to success?

To observe and compare the competition, including the unlawful one, and to act in advance by understanding market and customers’ trends, adapting the brand with enough flexibility to realize priorities and competitiveness. In this sense, it may be essential to develop a network of adequate perceptions for a modern enterprise.

Infine, lei che è esperto nella protezione e nella tutela del marchio, quali suggerimenti può dare agli imprenditori?

La tutela del marchio sta vivendo un momento di crisi quanto alla repressione/sanzione della violazione, troppo costosa, time consuming e spesso inefficace, se non addirittura incontrollabile per effetto dell’internalizzazione del mercato e l’informatizzazione della comunicazione.

Meglio investire in via preventiva nella costituzione di validi diritti di marchio (registrazione nazionale, comunitaria o internazionale, o copertura pubblicitaria di un marchio di fatto nei territori ed aree merceologiche di interesse) in modo da sfruttarli strategicamente aumentando il potere contrattuale e l’effetto deterrente da parte delle aziende per evitare il coinvolgimento in contenziosi ingestibili in territori a rischio.

Finally, you are an expert in the legal protection of brand: which advices could you give to entrepreneurs?

The protection of the brand is experiencing a crisis as the repression / punishment of the violation is too expensive, time consuming and often ineffective, if not uncontrollable, that is due to internationalization of the market and the automation of communication. It is better to invest in advance in the establishment of valid trademark rights (national, European or international law registered, or an advertising coverage of a trademark actually in the territories and market areas of interest), in order to strategically take advantage of them, increasing the bargaining power and the deterrence of companies, so they can avoid to become involved in unmanageable cases in risk areas.

Capiamo subito che non stava per iniziare la solita intervista sulle tendenze e gli outfit di stagione, perché per Antonella Rossi creare un abito non è solo un lavoro, ma anche un modo per mantenere uniti tutti i pezzi della propria vita.

We immediately understand that it hasn’t been going to start the usual interview on season trends and outfit, because for Antonella Rossi to create a dress is not just a job: it is also a way to keep together all the pieces of her own life.

Quando ha capito che avrebbe continuato la strada dei suoi genitori? La mia è stata una famiglia di addetti ai lavori. Mio padre era un ricercatore di tessuti, ricordo fin da bambina il suo volto emozionato quando capiva di avere tra le mani una bella stoffa. Ma è stato l’incontro con mia madre, sarta e ricamatrice, a cambiare il suo percorso di vita. Insieme hanno creato, nel 1950, il marchio “Rossi”. Ad un certo punto anche io ho capito che attraverso la moda potevo far provare emozioni agli altri e allo stesso tempo esprimere tutta la mia creatività.

Qual è il segreto del suo successo? Ho trasferito sul lavoro la passione per i poeti classici, in particolare quella per Leopardi che trovo ancora attuale. Per tanti anni ho cercato di far vivere alle spose il “sabato del villaggio”, per questo ho trasformato gli incontri antecedenti al matrimonio in degli “happening”, aumentando l’aspettativa e aiutando le future spose a godere fino in fondo di quei momenti.

When have you realized that you would continue your parents path?

Mine was a family of experts. My father was a fabrics researcher: since I have been a child, I remember his excited face when he understood to have a beautiful textile in his hands. However, his life changed when he met my mother, a dressmaker and embroiderer. In 1950, together they created the name “Rossi”. At one point, I also realized that I could make others feel emotions through fashion and express my creativity at the same time.

What is the secret of your success?

I have transmitted to the job my passion for classical poets, especially for Leopardi that I still find contemporary. For many years I have tried to make the brides live the “Saturday in the village”, that is why I turned the meetings prior to the wedding in “happening”, increasing expectation and helping brides to enjoy those moments all the way.

Come è riuscita a conciliare lavoro e famiglia?

Credo che ad ognuno di noi vengano forniti gli strumenti per vivere una vita completa. Trovo assurdo che una donna che voglia lavorare a grandi livelli non possa avere figli. Io non mi sono preclusa nessuna possibilità, sono una mamma, una nonna ed una imprenditrice. Ho lavorato sodo ma sento di essere completa. Ed è stato anche merito del mio lavoro se sono riuscita, nel 2007, a sconfiggere una brutta malattia.

Dopo la malattia cosa è cambiato?

Per la prima volta ho fatto un bilancio e ho visto le persone vere intorno a me. Molte non hanno retto alla tensione. Fin da piccola ho cercato l’essenza degli esseri umani e attraverso la malattia l’ho trovata, da quel momento sono cambiate tante cose e anche i miei parametri di valutazione.

How have you reconciled work and family life?

I believe that each of us are given the tools to live a full life. I find it absurd that a woman who wants to work at high-level positions, can’t have children. I have not precluded any possibility to myself: I am a mother, a grandmother and a businesswoman. I have been working hard, but I feel complete. And it was also thank to my job, if I was able to defeat a bad disease in 2007.

After the illness, what has changed?

For the first time, I reviewed my life and I saw the real people around me. Many have not stood the strain. Even as a child, I sought the human beings essence and I have found it through my disease: since that moment, many things have changed, even my evaluation parameters.

You lived many years in Tuscany. How was moving into the capital city?

In 2000, I decided to grow professionally and so in Rome, in “Via dei Delfini”, I opened the second fashion house. I immediately breathed a special atmosphere that allowed me to move from the Tuscany Renaissance to the majesty of the Roman Empire. Today, Rome is my adopted city and I can feel the real daily Rome way of life, by living in the center. I rediscovered the pleasure of shopping in the workshops, as although Rome is a very big city, fortunately it keeps intact the small handcraft realities.

What were you inspired by for the Haute Couture collection presented at “AltaRoma”?

All dresses are inspired by the “Dolce Vita” period and they represent the ‘50s womanhood, the after war , when the woman reached again the knowledge of her own femininity. “To like oneself for pleasure” is the message we want to send to all women who will buy my clothes, because when I create an outfit I always try to dress the soul of the woman who will wear it.

Ha vissuto molti anni in Toscana, come è stato trasferirsi nella Capitale?

Nel 2000 ho deciso di crescere professionalmente e così a Roma, in via dei Delfini, ho aperto il secondo atelier. Da subito ho respirato un’atmosfera particolare che mi ha permesso di passare dal Rinascimento Toscano alle maestà dell’Impero Romano.

Oggi Roma è la mia città d’adozione e, abitando in centro posso toccare quotidianamente la vera romanità. Ho riscoperto il piacere di fare la spesa nelle botteghe, fortunatamente pur essendo una città molto grande mantiene intatte le piccole realtà artigianali.

A cosa si è ispirata per la collezione Haute Couture presentata ad AltaRoma?

Tutti gli abiti sono ispirati al periodo della “Dolce Vita” e raccontano la femminilità degli anni ’50, quando la donna, dopo la guerra, ha raggiunto di nuovo la consapevolezza di essere anche femmina.

“Piacersi per piacere”, è il messaggio che voglio mandare a tutte le donne che compreranno i miei abiti, perché quando creo un abito cerco sempre di vestire anche l’anima di colei che lo indosserà.

Con la partecipazione all’AIDDA ha mostrato un grande interesse per le donne.

Sì, da sempre seguo da vicino le problematiche legate alle donne e infatti da circa 20 anni sono membro dell’AIDDA, ora Vice Presidente Vicario per il Lazio. Sto collaborando ad un progetto che riguarda le donne africane ed arabe e sono una delle 15 donne che hanno reso la propria testimonianza nel libro “Il cancro si può vincere” a cura di Armando Editore. La considero una lettura che contiene tutta la forza e la speranza che ogni donna deve avere per combattere questa malattia.

Quali i suoi prossimi progetti?

Ho intenzione di riscoprire i tesori sartoriali della mia famiglia e lo vorrei fare attraverso i giovani. In archivio ci sono una trentina di abiti, realizzati e cuciti dalla mia mamma che voglio far rivivere. È un prezioso patrimonio che cercherò di valorizzare con l’aiuto di giovani talenti che in questo modo avranno anche la possibilità di iniziare la loro carriera nel mondo della moda. Credo molto in loro, sono il nostro futuro e hanno diritto a delle opportunità.

With the participation to AIDDA (Italian Association of entrepreneurs women), you shown a great interest in women.

Yes, I do. I always follow closely women issues and for about 20 years I have been an AIDDA member, of whom I am currently Senior Vice President of Lazio. I am working on a project that concerns African and Arabic women and I am one of 15 women who have written their stories in the book “Cancer can be won” by Armando Editore. I consider it a book that contains all the strength and the hope that every woman should have to fight this disease.

What are your next projects?

I am going to rediscover the tailoring treasures of my family and I would make it through the young generation. In the archive, there are approximately thirty dresses that were made and sewn by my mother, that I want to renew. It is a legacy that I will try to enhance with the help of young talents, who will also have the chance to start their career in the fashion world.

I really believe in them, as they are our future and deserve opportunities.

Ho iniziato così uno studio approfondito, ad esempio da Alfredo a La Scrofa ho consultato i libri degli ospiti dal 1922 ad oggi. Un patrimonio immenso, ho trovato firme inimmaginabili: dai futuristi a Mussolini, da Pirandello agli ufficiali nazisti fino a leggere dell’arrivo del boogie woogie a Roma. Da tutto questo lavoro è nata la prima mostra quattro anni fa al Vittoriano ed ora continua in questo poliedrico spazio firmato Agnelli. Potrei raccontarvi infinite scoperte molto toccanti o curiose. Penso a Claudio Cioca del Fico di Grottaferrata, mi ha raccontato mille aneddoti su Fellini, che adorava il suo ristorante e lo fece recitare perfino in 8 e mezzo. La mia idea è di proseguire il lavoro in altre città da Milano a Venezia, da Firenze a Napoli, da Capri alla Costiera Amalfitana per scoprire pezzi di storia contemporanea straordinariamente sconosciuti eppure sotto gli occhi di tutti.”

The new DB9 is available in two variants: the coupé and “Volante? convertible and it has been completely renovated, while retaining the distinctive elegance of the brand. It differs from 2004 version for the front fascia and the bi-xenon headlights with LED side repeaters. The performances live up to secret agent’s life, thanks to 517 hp and a max torque of 620 Nm. The DB9 is equipped with 20-inch alloy wheels, electrically adjustable sports seats, plus carbon fibre and kevlar seat options, with side airbags.

The DB9 has been admired at the Paris Salon, however we have to wait for deliveries until the end of 2012: a great gift idea for the holiday season.

CARATTERISTICHE TECNICHE La DB9 13MY vanta una serie di importanti miglioramenti su uno standard già elevatissimo. L'impianto frenante, per esempio, ora usa come standard Carbon Ceramic Matrix (CCM), dischi e pinze fornite dalla Brembo Freno, riconosciuti tra i più grandi esperti internazionali.

CCM consiste in un composto di fibra di carbonio impregnato con silicone, iniettato in uno stampo e cotto ad altissima temperatura. Il materiale risultante non solo è molto più duro rispetto ai dischi convenzionali in ghisa, ma dissipa anche il calore più rapidamente per fornire una dissolvenza ridotta.

I dischi freno, (398 millimetri di diametro nella parte anteriore, 360 millimetri al posteriore), sono montati su campane a disco su misura utilizzando un 'disco flottante' del sistema. In questo modo i dischi sono meno inclini a 'vibrazioni'.

Un risparmio di circa 12,5 kg rispetto a un sistema tradizionale in ghisa della DB9 non solo di riduce il peso complessivo del veicolo, ma significa anche che un migliore equilibrio tra comfort di guida e maneggevolezza. The braking system, for instance, now uses as standard Carbon Ceramic Matrix (CCM) discs and calipers supplied by acknowledged global brake experts Brembo.

CCM consists of a compound of carbon fibre which is impregnated with silicon, injected into a mould and baked at ultra-high temperature. The resulting material is not only much tougher than conventional cast iron discs but also dissipates heat more rapidly to provide reduced fading. The brake rotors, (398mm diameter at the front, 360mm at the rear), are mounted onto the bespoke disc bells using a ‘floating disc’ system. This allows the discs to flex relative to their mountings thereby making them less prone to ‘judder’. The discs are cross-drilled to help keep the brake pads clean while also helping to ensure that gases emitted by the pads during braking do not build up between the pad and disc surface. The holes also help to cool the surface of the pads and the discs themselves. Air intakes mounted behind the lower front grille also force feed air into the brake discs to aid cooling. Saving around 12.5 kg versus a conventional cast iron system the DB9’s CCM brakes not only reduce overall vehicle weight but also mean that a better balance between ride comfort and handling can be struck. The lower rotational mass also gives improved acceleration, braking and steering feel.

Ed è proprio in questo contesto che si colloca una delle applicazioni inedite di questo settore, la Moon SPA; un ambiente polifunzionale fortemente integrato con soluzioni di Entertainment Audio Video legate a scenari di Luce intelligente e controllo ambientale in grado di coinvolgere tutti i sensi in una vera esperienza 4D. A tal proposito la redazione ha incontrato l’Ing. Andrea De Martino, CEO della Engineering Solutions s.r.l, azienda affermata in Italia e all’estero nel settore della Home, Yacht & Smart Building, che rappresenta un bell’esempio di quella che può definirsi un’eccellenza italiana, per chiedergli di descriverci cosa accade quando l’innovazione tecnologica incontra il mondo del wellness.

Ing. De Martino ci può raccontare quali sono le soluzioni innovative che contraddistinguono l’inedita Smart SPA? Quando ho ricevuto l’incarico di progettare e realizzare gli impianti speciali di una SPA riservabile ad uso esclusivo, su una superficie di oltre 100 mq all’interno del Trilussa Palace Hotel a Roma, ho subito immaginato di ideare una nuova tipologia di SPA che non si limitasse alle tradizionali attività di un centro benessere, bensì rappresentasse un inedito spazio con caratteristiche poliedriche, prestandosi ad ospitare diverse tipologie di eventi configurabili attraverso le straordinarie dotazioni tecnologiche. La Moon SPA è infatti stata progettata con soluzioni illuminotecniche, multimediali e di controllo ambientale che trasformano lo spazio in funzione dei desideri dell’utente.

Today, with “Augmented reality” technology, it is possible to recreate suggestive sceneries bringing to mind distant places, in unexpected places in our city, like ancient roman baths or Hammam exotics atmosphere up to Nordic Finnish saunas. It is exactly in this context that operates “Moon SPA” using innovative applications for this sector: multifunctional environment equipped with audio-video entertainment solutions, intelligent light sensors and ambient control that are able to involve all senses for a true 4D experience.

In this regard, our editorial staff has met Engineering Solutions’ CEO, Mr. Andrea de Martino, that represents a good example of Italian Excellence in design and realization of Home, Building and Yacht Automation. We have asked Mr. De Martino what happens when the technology innovation meets the wellness world.

Mr. De Martino, could you tell us what are the innovative solutions that distinguish the new “Smart SPA” brand?

When I received the task to design and develop an exclusive SPA special plants on 100m2 surface inside the Trilussa Palace Hotel in Rome, I immediately imagined to develop a new kind of SPA that was not limited to traditional wellness center activities but an innovative place with versatile features ready to host various event through extraordinary technology equipment. In fact, the “Moon SPA” is designed with lighting, multimedia and environmental control solutions that transform the space according to customer’s requirements. In this context, a particular video communication solution takes form, based on combined use of three last generation HD Laser Led Projector that recreate a virtual environment being able to surround the customer to an extraordinary journey, using clear stoned walls and an image junction software,

In questo contesto prende vita una particolare soluzione videocomunicativa, basata sull’utilizzo combinato di tre proiettori HD Laser Led di ultima generazione che, sfruttando le pareti di pietra chiara ed un software di giunzione delle immagini, ricreano un ambiente virtuale in grado di immergere l’utente in un viaggio immaginario che parte dalle spiagge di un’isola caraibica e termina con una suggestiva ripresa in HD della terra vista dall’orbita dello shuttle, passando per una foresta Pluviale e le pendici di un vulcano attivo. A ciascuno degli scenari videocomunicativi scelti dall’utente attraverso una semplice interfaccia Ipad con grafica User Friendly, corrispondono diverse temperature, sfumature di colore e sonorità elettroacustiche basate su selezionate playlist audio. L’utente può anche inserire nel sistema la propria libreria musicale o i propri contenuti multimediali; la SPA è infatti dotata di un impianto elettroacustico a prestazioni elevate con diffusori acustici professionali perfettamente integrati negli arredi della stessa. Per un così elevato livello di integrazione è stata importante la partnership che la Engineering Solutions ha stretto con la Starpool, azienda leader nella progettazione e realizzazione di ambienti dedicati al mondo del wellness.

Quanto ritiene sia importante la luce e dunque un attento progetto illuminotecnico in uno spazio dedicato al wellness?

La luce è uno degli elementi imprescindibili per creare un’atmosfera che consenta all’utente di vivere in totale relax le esperienze sensoriali legate agli ambienti del percorso benessere, quali sauna, bagno turco, idromassaggio e docce emozionali. Il progetto illuminotecnico della Moon SPA doveva inoltre tener conto delle forti connotazioni multimediali; pertanto la scelta è caduta su corpi illuminanti basati su tecnologia led ad alta resa cromatica, controllabili e programmabili via Bus Dali e DMX. L’integrazione degli scenari illuminotecnici con i diversi contesti audiovisivi, ha dato vita ad uno spazio basato su luce intelligente e dinamica, in grado di mutare lo spazio che circonda l’utente in funzione delle scelte operate dalla piattaforma iPad di comando e controllo. Nella pagina di gestione luci dell’iPad, ad esempio, è possibile personalizzare l’ambiente wellness controllando contemporaneamente tutte le tipologie di corpi illuminanti, coordinandone l’effetto voluto in base a scenari di luce bianca in varie temperature e un’infinita varietà di colori che si legano alle diverse immagini e video proiettati sulle pareti di pietra.

Each single virtual scenario is chosen by customers with user friendly I-Pad interface and matches different temperatures, color shades and electroacoustic sounds based on selected audio playlist. Customer could even add in the system his personal multimedia library; the SPA uses a high performance HI-FI system with professional speakers fully merged with the fittings. The collaboration with Starpool, a leading Company on wellness areas’ design was fundamental for this high level standard of integration.

How much important are lights and therefore a proper design of lights system in a wellness center?

Light is one of the essential elements which allows the customer to live wellness programs like sauna, Turkish bath, Jacuzzi and emotional showers in total relax feelings.

“Moon SPA” lights project had to be clearly oriented on deep multimedia elements; therefore lighting element’s choice was based on high performance LED technology, controlled and customizable through Bus Dali and DMX interface. The perfect mix between lighting system and different video contents created a space based on dynamic and intelligent light able to transform user’s environment according to each choice made with I-Pad control interface. For instance, on I-Pad light control panel customers can simultaneously control any kind of lighting elements, coordinate the desired visual effect linked to temperature and color scale screened on stoned walls.

Molto interessante, ma viene da chiedersi quanto sia complessa la gestione di un tale impianto tecnologico?

Questa è la vera sorpresa e al tempo stesso uno dei punti di forza delle nostre soluzioni. Il sistema può essere comodamente gestito attraverso tastiere domotiche e dispositivi Apple (iPad), dove le funzionalità sono facilmente raggruppate in chiare icone caratterizzate da una grafica User Friendly. Infatti il cliente attraverso una semplice ed intuitiva interfaccia iPad può richiamare scenari preprogrammati che coinvolgono contemporaneamente tutte le risorse tecnologiche a disposizione. In particolare mi riferisco alle diverse tipologie di corpi illuminanti, ai sistemi audio/video, le cascate d’acqua, di ghiaccio e ad alcuni aspetti dello stato di comfort ambientale. E’ possibile inoltre inserire nel sistema la propria libreria musicale attraverso basette per Iphone, Ipod e porte USB per caricare video o immagini necessarie allo svolgimento di un particolare evento. Adesso rivolgo a voi una domanda.

Chi non apprezzerebbe il fatto di poter personalizzare un ambiente dedicato al benessere con una lussuosa scenografia “reale e virtuale” che rappresenti il proprio spazio ideale, dove poter vivere un’esperienza unica da condividere con il partner o con gli amici? Immagino che i lettori a questo punto non vedranno l’ora di vivere questa straordinaria esperienza.

It is very interesting however the question is: how complex is to manage this kind of technologic system?

Now, I would like to pose a question to you: who wouldn’t like the idea to personalize an environment dedicated to wellness with luxurious surroundings that is both “real and virtual” and represents the ideal space, where to live a unique experience together with own partner or friends? I assume that the readers can’t wait to live this experience by themselves.

Quando vogliamo parlare di un film, se non ne ricordiamo il titolo, di solito cerchiamo di identificarlo tramite gli attori protagonisti o il regista. Quasi mai diciamo, se non facciamo parte della stretta cerchia degli addetti ai lavori, il nome dello sceneggiatore, del direttore della fotografia, dello scenografo, del fonico, del montatore, del costumista o del truccatore.

GREAT EXPECTATIONS FOR THE PROFESSIONALS FILM FESTIVAL COMPETITION IN SPELLO When we talk about a movie, usually we try to recognize it from the actors or the director, if we don’t remember the title. We hardly ever refer to the scriptwriter, the director of photography, the production designer or to those involved in the assembly, the original music, costumes or make-up, unless we are part of the movie innermost circle.

È comprensibile, ma poco rispettoso dei tanti personaggi che animano il mondo del cinema e senza i quali quest’arte non esisterebbe. Ha riscosso quindi un grande successo l’idea di Fabrizio Cattani e Donatella Cocchini di dare vita, lo scorso anno, ad un festival cinematografico dedicato esattamente a tutte le professioni del cinema. Un simile festival non poteva che nascere in una località che sembra uscita dalla mente di due bravi sceneggiatori e scenografi: Spello.

It is understandable, but it is not very respectful of the many personalities that spur the world of films, and without which this art would not exist.

Therefore, last year ??Fabrizio Cattani and Donatella Cocchini’s idea of producing a film festival dedicated to the professions of cinema, was a great success. Such a festival could simply be created in a place that seems to come from the mind of two good scriptwriters and set designers: Spello.

Qual è il meccanismo del festival? Una giuria segnala i film, usciti nelle sale cinematografiche l’anno precedente, tra i quali far votare il migliore tra sceneggiatore, direttore della fotografia, scenografo, fonico di presa diretta, montatore, musicista, costumista e truccatore. Dalla prossima edizione sarà presente anche il premio per gli effetti speciali.

Dal 1° al 3 marzo 2013, oltre alla proiezione dei film selezionati, è previsto il coinvolgimento degli istituti superiori dell’Umbria tramite un concorso che premierà il miglior costume, il miglior bozzetto scenografico ed il miglior corto.

Le mostre verranno allestite all’interno di Villa Fidelia, opera architettonica del XVI secolo famosa per il suo giardino all’italiana della principessa Teresa Grillo Pamphili e dove furono festeggiate le nozze reali tra Giovanna di Savoia e Boris di Bulgaria.

Le proiezioni dei film avverranno in teatri di particolare valore artistico in forma itinerante a Spello, Foligno, Spoleto, Perugia, Bevagna, Monte Castello di Vibio, Torgiano, Todi e Marsciano.

What is the festival mechanism? A board of judges points out a list of movies released during the previous year, including one to vote for best screenwriter, director of photography, set designer, live sound engineer, editor, composer, costume designer and make-up artist. The next edition will also feature the award for special effects.

From the 28th February to the 3rd March 2013, in addition to the selected films, there will be the involvement of Umbria higher education institutions for a competition that will award the best costume, the best scenic sketch and the best short movie.

The exhibitions will be staged at Villa Fidelia, an architectural effort of the sixteenth century that is famous for its Italian garden, belonged to the Princess Teresa Grillo Pamphili and where the Giovanna of Savoia and Boris of Bulgaria’s royal wedding was celebrated.

The films screenings will take place in very artistic and unique theaters in itinerant form between Spello, Foligno, Spoleto, Perugia, Bevagna, Monte Castello di Vibio, Torgiano, Todi and Marsciano.

La musica iniziò, risvegliando in me emozioni e ricordi perduti. Ripensai alla ormai celebre scena nella quale Connery, smoking nero, papillon nero, pochette bianca, seduto al tavolo da gioco del Club Le Cercle, si presenta alla ragazza che chiede il suo nome: Bond… James Bond, e su quel primo Bond partiva la sigla che proprio in quel momento il mio lettore CD stava riproducendo: uno dei temi musicali più conosciuti nella storia del cinema.

007 A SUCCESS STORY The music started, awakening in me lost emotions and memories. I thought of the now famous scene in which Connery, wearing a black tuxedo, black bow tie, white clutch, sitting at the “Club Le Cercle” table, met the girl who asked for his name: Bond ...

James Bond, and on that first “Bond” the title track started and in that moment my CD player was playing one of the most popular musical themes in the cinema history.

5 ottobre 1962: Location esotiche, missioni pericolose, automobili di lusso, abiti sartoriali e bellissime donne…

Gli elementi fondamentali per un Bond film sono già tutti presenti, quando nelle sale cinematografiche arriva “Agente 007 Licenza di uccidere” (“Dr. No”), primo di una lunghissima serie di film sulla spia più famosa del mondo. Il regista Terence Young, portò Sean Connery dal suo sarto personale, Anthony Sinclair e dal suo camiciaio di fiducia, Turnbull and Asser per creare il personaggio dell’agente segreto bello e sofisticato. Da allora, passando per Brioni fino all’ultimo Tom Ford, i diversi stilisti hanno concepito per Bond un’eleganza classica, non soggetta alle stranezze della moda e tutti e sei gli interpreti, hanno contribuito a definire il personaggio dando ciascuno qualcosa di unico.

Se Sean Connery è ricordato come l’unico vero 007, lo stesso George Lazenby, tanto criticato, ha però dalla sua, forse il più bel film della saga (“On Her Majesty’s Secret Service” - 1969); se Roger Moore ha contribuito con la sua ironia, Timothy Dalton ha tentato, purtroppo senza fortuna, l’esperimento di un Bond alla Fleming; se l’elegante Pierce Brosnan ha rilanciato il Bond delle origini, il glaciale Daniel Craig raccogliendo l’eredità dei precedenti interpreti, ha portato il pubblico a rivedere il James Bond dei romanzi in chiave moderna.

October 5, 1962: exotic locations, dangerous missions, luxury cars, tailored suits and beautiful women ... When the first 007’s movie, “Dr. No”, was released in theaters, the key elements for a Bond’s movie are all present, and it was the first of a long series of movies on the most famous secret agent in the world. The first director of the Bond series, Terence Young, took Sean Connery by his personal tailor, Anthony Sinclair and his shirtmaker, Turnbull and Asser, to create the character of the secret agent that is handsome and sophisticated. Since then, through Brioni until the last Tom Ford, the different designers have designed a classic elegance for Bond, not subject to fashion quirks. From that distant ‘62 to now, all six Bond actors helped to define the character by giving something unique each.

If Sean Connery is remembered as the only true 007, on the other side George Lazenby, widely criticized, however he played in the probably most beautiful film of the saga – “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service” (1969). While Roger Moore added his sarcasm, Timothy Dalton tried to embody Fleming’s Bond, unfortunately without success.

Mentre mi preparavo per la serata, il mitico tema principale del film “Goldfinger” (1964), cantato dalla splendida voce di Shirley Bassey, evocò in me immagini lontane... Dal cappello ghigliottinante di Oddjob, servo muto del ricco Auric Goldfinger, alle scarpe con pugnale di Rosa Klebb (“From Russia with Love” - 1963); dal leggendario Rolex Submariner senza paracolpi per la corona usato dal Bond di Connery al Sea Master della Omega usato dal Bond di Brosnan; d’un tratto mi tornò in mente l’auto che mi era stata regalata per il mio decimo compleanno, della quale ricordavo con precisione ogni particolare: mitragliatrici anteriori e posteriori, scudo posteriore antiproiettile, lame estensibili nei perni delle ruote, sedile passeggero eiettabile… una perfetta riproduzione dell’Aston Martin DB5 usata da Bond in “Goldfinger”. Chissà che fine aveva fatto!

As I was dressing up for the evening, the mythical “Goldfinger” title track (1964), sung by the beautiful voice of Shirley Bassey, I started recalling distant images... From Oddjob’s razor-edged throwable bowler hat, Auric Goldfinger’s silent servant, up to Rosa Klebb’s shoe blade in “From Russia with Love” (1963).

From the legendary Rolex Submariner without crown guards used by Connery/Bond up to the Omega Sea Master used by Brosnan/Bond. All of a sudden I remembered the car that was my tenth birthday gift, of which I accurately remembered every detail: the front and rear machine guns, rear bulletproof shield, retractable blades in the wheel axles, passenger ejection seat... a perfect reproduction of the Aston Martin DB5 used by Bond in “Goldfinger”. I really haven’t got a clue about the car fate!

5 Ottobre 2012: A cinquant’anni dalla prima uscita e con alle spalle 22 film, l’eroe creato da Ian Fleming continua ad entusiasmare il pubblico con le sue avventure spettacolari e festeggia il suo anniversario con un film che non bada a spese. Per “Skyfall”, 23esimo della serie in uscita a fine ottobre, la produzione punta al record d’incassi ingaggiando Javier Bardem (“Non è un paese per vecchi”, dei fratelli Coen) nel ruolo del cattivo ma soprattutto affidando la regia a Sam Mendes un regista da Oscar (“American Beauty”) cresciuto alla Royal Shakespeare Company, che ha cercato di creare un Bond più umano e credibile senza tuttavia rinunciare alle classiche scene di azione che il pubblico si aspetta da un film di 007.

However the significant choice is giving the direction to Sam Mendes: Academy award winning with “American Beauty”, grown up at the Royal Shakespeare Company, he tried to create a more human and credible Bond, without sacrificing the classic action scenes that the public would expect from a 007’s film.

I was ready to go outside. A commemorative evening to celebrate the James Bond Global Day was waiting for me at friends’ home, during which we would have seen the first three movies of Bond ... The exhibition is curated by Anne Baldassari, internationally recognized as one of the most important Pablo Picasso’s scholars and president of the Musée National Picasso in Paris, where the world’s largest collection of the Spanish artist works is stored. With more than two hundred and fifty works - many of which have never left the museum in Paris before this world tour that sees Milan as the only European leg - including paintings, sculptures, photographs, drawings, illustrated books and prints. “La collezione del Musée Picasso - scrive la curatrice - rappresenta dunque il lavoro picassiano in progress, i suoi imprevisti, i suoi balzi in avanti o le sue resipiscenze, i suoi meandri e i suoi ripiegamenti. Vi si può osservare la pittura che diventa scultura, e viceversa, nell’invenzione di dimensioni intermedie: pittura senza fondo né contorni, tavole piatte come icone, legni intagliati e lumeggiati di colore, gli inganni ottici dei papiers collés, dei tableaux reliefs, delle costruzioni piane, sculture cave, aperte, forate, grafismi spaziali filiformi, quadri a tutto tondo, modelli di carta piegata, lamiere tagliate e dispiegate nello spazio. Anche i disegni, le pagine dei quaderni di schizzi e le incisioni dialogano in un continuo andirivieni, per ricostruire le logiche iconografiche di un racconto che esplora tutte le possibilità, quasi a raggiungere il mito della nascita delle immagini: si colgono qui le ragioni minute di sequenze che vanno dall’identico al multiplo attraverso gli stadi intermedi che descrivono, a migliaia, tale gesto mitografico”. Il percorso espositivo con oltre 2.000 metri quadrati al piano nobile di Palazzo Reale, include anche la documentazione che riguarda la mostra che Picasso tenne nello stesso luogo nel 1953, quando venne esposta per la prima volta in Italia, nella Sala delle Cariatidi - che già da sola ha un fascino tale da valere una visita al Palazzo- la grande tela di “Guernica”. “The collection of the Musée Picasso,” writes the art curator in the catalog “is therefore the Picasso work in progress, its unforseen, its leaps forward or its rectifications, its intricacies and its folds. There you can see the painting becomes sculpture, and vice versa, in the invention of intermediate size: painting without bottom or outlines, tables flat as icons, carved and color highlighted woods, optical illusions of papiers collés, tableaux-reliefs, flat construction, hollow, open, perforated sculptures, filiform aerial style of writing, folded paper models, cut metal sheets and widen in space. Designs, sketchbooks pages and engravings communicate in a continuous coming and going, to rebuild the iconographic logic of a story that explores all the possibilities, almost to the myth of the birth of the images: here are gathered the minute reasons ranging from the identical sequences to the multiple ones, through intermediate stages that describe this mythographic gesture”. The exhibition with over 2,000 square feet on the main floor of the “Palazzo Reale”, also includes documentation concerning the1953 Picasso exhibition held in the same place, when “Guernica” (1937) was exhibited in Italy for the first time, in the Caryatids Hall which already has the magnificence that worth a visit to the Palace.

DA GAUGUIN A MONET Grazia Di Michele torna ad ispirarsi alla pittura per un nuovo disco intriso di atmosfere sonore altamente suggestive

Si chiama Giverny e si ispira a Claude Monet il nuovo album di Grazia Di Michele, la cantautrice romana che ha fatto della bellezza pittorica la sua primaria fonte di ispirazione.

Dopo le Ragazze di Gauguin, uno dei suoi brani più conosciuti, la pittura torna ad ispirare nuovamente la cantautrice non più con le giovani indigene della Polinesia ma con i fiori esotici degli stagni e dei giardini di Monet.

FROM GAUGUIN TO MONET Once again, Grazia Di Michele has been inspired by painting for a new album that is full of highly evocative soundscapes.

Its name is Giverny and Grazia Di Michele draws inspiration from Claude Monet: she is the singer from Rome that has made the pictorial beauty her primary source of inspiration.

After Le Ragazze di Gauguin (Gauguin’s girls), one of her best known songs, painting has returned to inspire the singer no longer with the young Polynesian aborigines, but with ponds exotic flowers and gardens seen in Monet.

Il paese della Normandia che dà il titolo al nuovo album è infatti la località in cui l’artista si ritirò durante la guerra e dove visse immerso nel suo giardino dipingendone i fiori, le ninfee, gli specchi d’acqua e i salici. “Questo mio lavoro vuole un po’ somigliare a quelle tele – afferma la cantautrice – perché nasce anch’esso da un’osservazione del mondo silenziosa e attenta, e dalla voglia di raccontarne qualche scorcio con pennellate rapide, intense e colorate”.

Il giardino di Giverny è un luogo incantato, ma soprattutto è un simbolo, la ricerca e la difesa appassionata e struggente di ciò che è bello e che parla al cuore delle persone. “Mentre fuori c’era la guerra – spiega Grazia Di Michele – Claude Monet proteggeva il suo mondo, e in qualche modo metteva in salvo ciò che nella vita vale e merita davvero di essere coltivato”.

The village in Normandy, that gives the new album name, is in fact the place where the painter retired during the war and lived in his garden surrounded by flowers, water lilies, water bodies and willows that he painted.

“This work would look a little like those paintings - the singer says - also because it comes from a silent and attentive observation of the world, and from the desire to describe some glimpses with rapid, intense and colorful brushstrokes”.

The Giverny’s garden is a charming place, but mostly it is a symbol: the research and the poignant and passionate defense of what is beautiful and that speaks to people’s hearts. “While there was a war outside - Grazia Di Michele says - Claude Monet was protecting his world, and somehow he put in a safe place what is worth and deserves to be cherished in life”.

Giverny è un album raffinato e di grande impegno artistico, scritto e musicato con grande cura, dove le melodie e le sonorità più raffinate si fondono con i contenuti poetici nei quali l’umanità è il tema portante: il corpo dell’uomo amato (Dove mi perdo), l’avventura amorosa in una triste balera (Passo a due), la mente appannata di una donna malata di Alzheimer (Laura), l’antagonismo ironico tra maschio e femmina (Carnevale, Pettini e pettinini), il fluire del tempo (Passando) e molto altro.

Per ogni storia esiste un’atmosfera, per ogni frase una sottolineatura – si direbbe una “pennellata” – ora di pianoforte ora di sassofono, di fisarmonica o di archi, in un disco che rappresenta un incontro sonoro unico e di grande sensibilità tra jazz, pop e canzone d’autore, realizzato insieme al trio jazz del pianista Paolo Di Sabatino (Marco Siniscalco al contrabbasso e Glauco Di Sabatino alla batteria) con la partecipazione dell’Orchestra Sinfonica Abruzzese dell’Aquila.

“Giverny” is a refined album of great artistic commitment, that was written and set to music with great care and where the most sophisticated melodies and sounds blend with the poetic contents in which the main theme is humanity: the body of her beloved man (“Dove mi perdo” – Where I get lost), a love affair in a gloomy dance hall (“Passo a due” – Step Two), the clouded mind of a woman suffering from Alzheimer’s (“Laura”), the ironic antagonism between male and female (“Carnevale, pettini e pettinini” – Carnival, combs and small combs), the flow of time (“Passando” – Passing) and much more.

There is an atmosphere for each story, an underscore for each sentence - one might say a “brushstroke” – made with piano and saxophone, accordion and strings, time to time, in an album that represents a unique and great sensitivity meeting between jazz, pop and songwriting, recorded with the jazz trio of the pianist Paolo Di Sabatino (Marco Siniscalco on contrabass and Glauco Di Sabatino on drums) with the participation of the “Orchestra Sinfonica Abruzzese” in L’Aquila.
