Avery warm welcome to the 23rd Excellence in Housewares Awards night. Progressive Housewares is delighted to bring the industry together again - we are very excited for this evening’s event, not least the revelation of this year’s wonderful winners.

Since Progressive Housewares launched these dedicated housewares awards in 2000, this event has grown and grown in stature as a firm favourite in the housewares year. The awards have become an important reference point throughout the industry, spotlighting outstanding retailers, suppliers and product innovation. Housewares buyers often say how eager they are to find out what products are among the finals so they can review what might be missing from their ranges, and, of course finalists are keen to fanfare the recognition of success across all sorts of media.

Every year without fail the finalists of the Excellence in Housewares Awards provide inspiration, from retailers’ initiatives to clever products that we wonder what we ever did without. And this year is no exception!

One of the exceptional elements of these awards yesterday collaboration across all of our industry in determining the finalists and creating this event. Thank you to all those who nominated, entered and judged the awards, whether online or at the a roundtable, that brought so many wise and experienced voices together.

Another exciting aspect of the Excellence in Housewares awards is our connection with the gia (Global Innovation Awards) programme, organised by the International Housewares Association and the Inspired Home Show. One retailer will win a trip to Chicago to represent the UK in this international celebration and competition of exceptional housewares and home goods retailers.

From a personal perspective, having been involved in the Excellence in Housewares Awards from the very beginning, and gia for two decades, it has been a great honour to have worked and collaborated with so many amazing people and have seen so many aweinspiring finalists and winners. This is my last event before I move on and hand over the ‘helm’ of the Progressive Housewares editorship, but it will always be fascinating to see who and what are the best in the awards of the future.

As we all know only too well, this is a fabulous industry and that’s why tonight is so special. So enjoy celebrating everything that is great about the housewares industry.
