H.E. Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa congratulates the Executive Management and employees on GPIC’s outstanding success during 2013 H.E. Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa, Advisor to H.H. the Prime Minister for Industrial and Oil Affairs and Chairman of the Board of Directors, expressed his pride in the outstanding results achieved at GPIC in 2013 and paid particular tribute to the Bahraini workers, the very backbone of the company and the secret of its success. He was proud that the company had been able to achieve its set goals in spite of all the challenges taking place in the regional and global markets for petrochemical products and fertilizers. He also praised the non-fiscal achievements of the company during the year 2013; the process of comprehensive regular maintenance having been successfully completed at the beginning of the month of December of the previous year, which had strengthened the reliability of the company’s

factories and its operations. The commitment of the employees was never so clearly illustrated than in the accomplishment of the goal of achieving the highest production rate daily and monthly for all products. For his part, Dr. Abdulrahman Jawahery, President of the company, explained that the company had risen not just on one level, but at all levels, such as production and exports, safety, care of the environment and management systems. Speaking about the company’s achievements during the year 2013, Dr. Jawahery confirmed that it was indeed a challenging year. Many administrative regulations had been revised in order to conform with developments taking place in the industrial sector, which depends entirely on gas in the production of petrochemicals. In the wake of historic achievements made​​

by the Company with respect to the completion of the largest comprehensive maintenance of the factories in the history of the company, GPIC had recently acquired the ISO certification 22301, ensuring business continuity.

Dr. Jawahery also touched on outstanding achievements that have been made in the area of occupational safety, where the company was able to achieve approximately 4,721 working days without a lost time accident, equivalent to more than 16.6 million hours. Princess Sabeeka Bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, wife of His Majesty the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women. This committee is the first of its kind to be formed in the private sector. Its role is to achieve justice without discrimination at all levels, including employment opportunities and training and development. The committee will hold its regular meetings with the participation of representatives from the Supreme Council for Women, which in turn welcomed the formation of

this committee in the company. Dr. Jawahery then spoke of production processes which during 2013 have seen many significant improvements, continuing steadily good production rates, after the completion of maintenance operations that were implemented during the fourth quarter of the previous year. The unprecedented achievement in registering a total annual production of 1,594,487 tonnes of Ammonia, Urea and Methanol during 2013, which was 3% higher than planned, was indeed notable. The urea plant achieved the highest rate of daily production in the year - 1,946 tons, and monthly - 61 549 tons, annually - 687 686 tonnes. The methanol plant also achieved the highest rates ever of daily and monthly production, amounting to 1,269 tonnes and 38 714 tonnes respectively.
