Company: Louise Tiler Designs The company designs interior wallpaper, cushions, stationary and greeting cards. The company was recently set up by Louise Tiler who has just graduated from the College and is now on the Fellowship program in the Printed Textiles Department. The company was established after the sucessful year Louise has had during her third year and winning national and internatioal competition for her design work (these include New Designer of the Year 2011.) Louise already has a liscening contract with a well know publisher for a new greeting card range that will be availble in department stores at the end of December. The company aims to create a strong brand that will produce a variety of interior products including wallpaper and cushions that will be launching next year at London Design Week and New Designers One Year On. Louise is also working with manifactures to develop these products which she aims to sell through department stores and online retails. Live Brief: Deadline: 15 November (The deadline for the logo is very tight because the website will be launched as soon as possible). Part 1: Within the next month the company is hoping to complete the new website. The brief will be to create a new logo/ identify for the company. The logo will be used on the new website, business cards, wallpaper packaging and greeting cards.
The brief is to create a branding/logo that reflects the company and work produced. Information on the designs, products and competitors: ‐ The designs Louise creates are intricate, hand drawn and detailed ‐ The products are aimed at the higher end of the interior market ‐ The products are expensive but high quality products ‐ The range will be luxurious and unique ‐ Modern but taking inspiration from vintage textiles. ‐ Aim to be competing with other wallpaper brands such as Abigail Borg and Deborah Bowness. The logo: ‐ Your own interpretation of the brief and create a logo that you believe will represent the company ‐ Playing with different typography ‐ A hand drawn style but still that still makes a bolds statement ‐ Contemporary, sophisticated and timeless that would look good against a busy pattern ‐ Works well with a vintage style ‐ Fresh ‐ Identifiable ‐ Clear ‐ Has to be ‘transferrable’ and work on a range of products e.g. wallpaper packaging ‐ Can try a hand drawn style but not over complicated Part 2: Deadline: After Christmas The next part of the brief will be to work on designing business cards, wallpaper packaging, tags, labels and brochures for interior trade fairs and London Design Week. Working with different print processes and professional finishes to be applied to the business cards etc. What the student will gain from this brief: ‐ Recognition on the new website. ‐ Their work will be published on all products throughout the companies range of products that will available online and in stores such as John Lewis and WHSmiths. In the future the company will be sending out new press releases to magazines such as Elle Decoration and Progressive Greeting magazine in which the logo/ branding will be displayed.
