Brief Title DFGA Yearbook 2012 Brief

Create the 2012 Graduate Year book that communicates the diverse, creative and professional quality of the work produced on the BA (Hons.) Digital Film, Games and Animation course. This will need to be supported by screenbased content too.

Background / Considerations

rd

The yearbook is an annual publication designed to showcase the graduating 3 year. The book is distributed to Industry Contacts, potential applicants and visitors to the end of year show. We also use the yearbook as a marketing tool to raise the profile of the course with feeder colleges and the creative industries. In the light of this the Yearbook is a high concept, highly visual and professional publication that needs to communicate the practical and conceptual standards of the Graphic Design programme. You have been given a standard square format and the budget is approximately £ 2 500 (tbc) What production processes, stock decisions and colour options will best support the communication of your concept. What additional formats could you use (both print & digital). What other deliverables can you propose?

Mandatory Requirements •

The Course, Institutionʼs Name and year of graduation must be clearly presented on the cover and spine of the publication rd Each 3 year is allocated an equal amount of space containing samples of work, a personal statement and photograph. The yearbook should be produced to a standard square format of 210mm x 210mm Additional mandatory content will be discussed with course leader.

Brief Title D&AD – 21st Century Whisky Brief

st

Create the identity, packaging and promotion for a 21 century whisky brand that challenges category conventions and appeals to an international female consumer.

Background / Considerations •

• • • •

Challenge category conventions in a category that hasnʼt changed much in centuries and that is ingrained with strong category codes – challenge the masculinity. Research into Scotch whisky market – have a look at whatʼs already out there (E.g. Johnny Walker bottle was revolutionary at the time it came out). Research into the background of whisky and challenge some of the conventions. Challenge the container. Consider the rituals related to drinking whisky – how itʼs transported, how itʼs poured, decanted, served, the st glasses, etc. – what can the new, 21 century ritual be?

Mandatory Requirements •

• • • •

Engage emotionally with the consumer, grab them, draw them in and speak to them. Packaging has to stand out and stand for something. Brand must have a unique personality. Consider the sustainability of the container & packaging (not a crucial element though) Inspire and shock the whisky industry.

Mandatory Requirements • •

Brief Title St Martins Practice Branding Brief

Create the identity for St Martins Medical Practice. This identity will then be applied across a range of deliverables.

Background / Considerations

St Martins Practice is a medical practice located in Chapeltown, Leeds. It is moving into new premises in 2013 that will be shared with another medical practice. This other medical practice already has a strong brand identity, and as this will be located side-by-side with St Martins Practice, it is time that they got their branding sorted too. St Martins Practice sees a lot of patients with alcohol and substance abuse, however, they also deal with general health issues and are a family clinic. The practice is situated in a very diverse community, so the branding needs to work across all of the different ethnic groups they deal with.

Mandatory Requirements • •

Identity must be consistent throughout. Stay away from clichés and traditional medical practice branding, such as the cross as it is very overdone. Try and communicate: Open door, accessibility, recognising differences (they see a lot of patients with alcohol and substance abuse and are accepting of patients that other doctors usually wouldn't really want to see). Long-term relationships (the same doctors have worked at the practice for a long period of time and they have a lot of long-standing patients), partnership (the type of practice, between the doctors and also between the doctors and patients), team approach. Friendly, caring, kindness, holistic. Quality. Consider NHS brand guidelines.
