ENRIC BATLLE Director MBLandArch Phd Architect ETSAB - UPC Landscape Architect EEABB - ETSAB - UPC

Associate professor in the Department of Urbanism and Regional planning UPC. His PhD thesis “The Garden of the Metropolis” received, among others, the UPC’s Extraordinary Doctorate Prize and the FAD Prize in Theory and Criticism. He is a founding partner of Batlle i Roig Arquitectura, the multidisciplinary recognized office based in the metropolitan area of Barcelona. He has created the UPC-Batlleiroig Business Cathedra, which promotes in the investigation around the Landscape Architecture role in Climate Change Fighting. His business work at the head of Batlleiroig has been recognized with the Superior Council of the Colleges of Architects of Spain-MEDALLA CSCAE 2017, among others such as the IOC/IAKS Gold Award, the Prix Méditerraneén du Paysage or the European Urban Public space. Numerous internationally renowned universities have had his participation in courses and masterclass. He has published numerous articles in professional journals and books and organized many exhibitions. ENGLISH

Adjunct professor of the Department of Agri Food Engineering and Biotechnology UPC. She is specialized in analysis and digital representation of Landscape. She is working as a Senior landscape architect in Batlle i Roig architecture. Her current work is focused on the urbanization of pedestrian streets and urban greenery. Her current research focuses on the natural beauty of the obsolete spaces, the Invisible Landscapes.

LUIS MALDONADO Architect ETSAV - UPC

Collaborating professor of the Department of Agri Food Engineering and Biotechnology UPC. EMiLA coordinator and Landscape degree coordinator. Former professor of the Graduate Program in Landscape Gardening of the UPC and of Experimental Workshops at EINA UAB His ongoing research and professional practice deals with new forms of beauty and nature; and with open space design and planning linking agro- forestry to landscape and cities crossing processes. He is a doctoral candidate with thesis entitled ‘Paper Gardens’. the reappearance of the garden in contemporary landscape architecture.

PEPA MORÁN PhD Architect ETSAB- ETSAV - UPV Landscape Architect EEABB - ETSAB - UPC Urbanist DUOT - ETSAB - UPC

Adjunct professor of the Department of Urbanism and Regional Planning UPC. She is the founder of her own studio El obrador. Former Landscape architect for the River Llobregat Team in the Association of Municipalities of the Metropolitan Area of Barcelona. She is founder of Paisea Landscape Magazine. She has won the 1st Prize for the Cerdanyola Green Corridor Competition, her work has been selected in the 1st Mostra d’arquitectura of Barcelona and in international exhibitions. She has collaborated with international organizations such as the European Risk Facility and has participated in numerous courses and masterclasses. Her thesis was entitled ‘Disruptive landscapes, the representation of wildfires in the Mediterranean Landscape’ focused on the transformative capacity of landscapes in relation to dynamics and disturbances such as forest fire. ANNA ZAHONERO Biologist UB Landscape Architect EEABB - ETSAB - UPC

Adjunct professor of the Department of Urbanism and Regional Planning UPC. She is the founder of her own studio AZ Paisatgisme, Environmental studies and Landscape Projects, specialized in strategic environmental assessment of plans and programs and in landscape projects with a clear ecological footprint. Executive Committee member of the International Biennial of Landscape Barcelona. Former member of the Centre for Research and Landscape Projects (CRPP, UPC). She has won the 1st Prize for the Cerdanyola Green Corridor Competition. She has published numerous articles in professional journals and the book “Medi ambient, una crisi civilitzadora” with Martí Boada. Her research interests are Landscape ecology, Global Change, Environmental Urbanism and Ecological restoration. She is a collaborator researcher of the Research Group on Conservation, Biodiversity and Climate Change ICTA-UAB CATALAN

Adjunct professor in the Department of Urbanism and Regional Planning UPC. Former adjunct professor in the Pontifícia Universidade Católica of Rio de Janeiro (Brazil). CEO of his own office Javi Zaldívar Paisatge i Arquitectura, focused in landscape & public space projects. Former landscape architect at Batlle i Roig Arquitectes. Former director in charge for the redevelopment of the Guanabara Bay Waterfront in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) by B+ABR Arquitetos associados . Mention in the “Urbanism” category Awards 2017 CSCAE and finalist in the FAD International 2016 awards. Professor at international workshops in the Technische Universität of Berlin, l’Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Paysage de Versailles, the Institut für Landschaftsarchitektur of Universität dür Bodenkultur of Vienna, the Harbin Institute of Technology, the Tshingua University or the Southwest Jiaotong University of Chengdu in China.

ANDREU ARRIOLA Architect ETSAB - UPC, Landscape Architect AEP - FFP Master in Architecture GSAPP - Columbia University

Associate professor at Department of Architectural Projects UPC. He won the William Kinne Fellowship and the Fulbright Grant. He is the principal architect and founder of Arriola & Fiol arquitectes, a studio of architecture, urban design and landscape. Former Associate Director at Institut Municipal de Promoció Urbanistica y JJOO’92 and former Design Architect at Servei de Projectes Urbans of Barcelona municipality. He has been awarded with the International Urban Landscape Award Eurohypo Topos, the AW Harvard University Prince of Wales Prize or the 1r Prize of the ‘Concours International Parc de La Villette. He has been Visiting Professor and given lectures at international and national universities and his articles has been published in indexed reviews. SARA BARTUMEUS Architect ETSAB - UPC, Landscape Architect UPC

Adjunct professor of the Department of Urbanism and Regional Planning UPC. Associate Professor at the Illinois School of Architecture. Her professional activity, as principal of Renau Bartumeus Arquitectes, involves landscape, urban design, planning and architecture. Former member of the City of Barcelona Architecture Committee, the COAC Advisory Committee and the International Biennial of Landscape Architecture She has served as juries in IV Rosa Barba European Landscape Prize, Banc Sabadell Foundation Award for Innovation in Architecture, 2nd International Catalan Architecture Exhibition Award and 2018 AIA Emerging Professionals Exhibit. Her current research projects focus on Barcelona’s Urban Landscape Identity: The Routledge Companion to XX and XI Century Spain: Ideas, Practices, Imagining, and on writing her manuscript Designing thresholds. ALBERT BESTARD Agricultural Technical Engineer EEABB - UPC Landscape Architect Newcastle

Adjunct professor of the Department of Agri Food Engineering and Biotechnology UPC. He is specialized Urban planting design. Director of the study AB Paisatgistes SL. Former site supervisor for Landscape contractor ACSA Barcelona and former Landscape Architect and Plant Nursery Director at Nigeria. He is a Reviewer for the Commission for Technical Standards in Landscape Construction. He has given local and international conferences in landscape design and arboriculture and interantional conferences. He is the technical coordinator for the review of ITEC construction prizes in the landscape chapters. His research is focused on the recovery of streams and water cycle and the analytical capacity of the existing biotic environment and the definition of constructive solutions to integrate the green element into the urban environment ENGLISH

Adjunct professor of the Department of Urbanism and Regional Planning UPC. International relationships coordinator. She is the founder of her own Landscape and Urbanism Studio in Barcelona. She works also as Vicepresident of Professional Practice and Policies of the International Federation of Landscape Architects (IFLA), Executive Committee Director of the International Biennial of Landscape Barcelona and the Coordinator of the Landscape Architecture Office at the Architects’ Association of Catalonia (COAC). She has been awarded with scholarships such as Caja de Arquitectos Foundation to work in Ateliers Jean Nouvel (Paris), the Centre for Research and Landscape Projects (CRPP, UPC) and LeNôtre (Landscape Education: New Opportunities for Teaching and Research in Europe). She is a doctoral candidate with thesis entitled ‘Roadscapes’.

MANEL COLOMINAS Agricultural Engineer EEABB - UPC Geographer & Historian UB

Collaborating professor of the Department of Agri Food Engineering and Biotechnology UPC. He specialised in Landscape History He directs his own office Factors de paisatge, a design and construction of landscape architecture studio, collaborating with other important architecture and engineering studios. He has participated in several courses and conferences organized by national and international universities. His professional experience focuses on public and private gardening, having won several national and international competitions. His research is interested in the European historical gardens of the XIX century, specifically German Romanticism.

He works in (az) medi ambient i paisatge where he carries out studies and projects related to urban and territorial planning and management, as well as to landscape and biodiversity conservation. He was awarded in the national and international competitions of the Quarry Life Award. He complements his professional activity with research in urban ecology.

Associate Professor of the Department of Agri Food Engineering and Biotechnology UPC He is a professor of Pest and Weed control in the EEABB - UPC. Membership of several national and international societies and member of the scientific committee in 3 national weed symposiums. He has published technical papers in national and international scientific journals based on the results achieved in national projects funded by the Spanish Government (AGL projects). His international research work mainly focuses on weed management and ecology.

Adjunct professor of the Department of Architectural Technology UPC. She is specialized in Sustainable construction of public space. Multidisciplinary professional practice at her own architecture studio.She won the open call at the Technology Department with her own projects about Construction and facilities of public space. She is a proffesor in the Architecture Bachelor degree and has been at the Technology Master in Architecture UPC and the Sustainable Town Planning Professional Master UPC. She has published various articles and a book about ‘Sustainable construction of public space’ in which she has specialized her research. She is a doctoral candidate with thesis entitled ‘Reduction of drinking water consumption in the city of Barcelona and environmental improvement thanks to Wsuds’.

Chair and Associate professor of the Department of Urbanism and Regional Planning UPC. Invited as an adviser and guest professor at several national and international universities. Author of the books ‘Places Porxades a Catalunya’ and co-author of ‘Metro, Metropolitan Galaxies metropolitanas’ and ‘La ciudad no es una hoja en blanco’ (‘The city is not a blank slate’). Her works and research have been published in national and international journals. She publishes regularly in the daily press. She is a Freelance illustrator Research focused in Landscape and Cities, Mobility and Public Space, Metropolis and Mass Housing, Cartography and Representation at the Laboratory of Urbanism of Barcelona.

IOANNA SPANOU Phd Architect ETSAB – UPC Landscape Architect EEABB - ETSAB - UPC

Adjunct professor in the Department of Urbanism and Regional Planning UPC. Her PhD thesis ¨Mapping Atmosphere: rehearsals in mediterranean landscapes¨ received the UPC’s Extraordinary Doctorate Prize. Architect and landscape architect at the Department of Urban Strategy and Analysis in Barcelona Regional, Urban Development Agency. Among the most significant prizes for her professional work: 1st Prize for the Green Corridor of Cerdanyola International Competition and for the Park Can Escandell, Ibiza. Her professional work and research on landscape mapping, as well as the reflection on teaching activity have resulted in the publication of numerous articles in international journals. Her current research focuses on cartography as a tool that interprets reality and engenders the re-configuration of the metropolitan landscape. ENGLISH

VÍCTOR ADORNO Biologist USAL Landscape architect EEABB - ETSAB - UPC

Specialist in environmental and systems biology, he has worked and still collaborates in (az) paisatge where he carries out projects always linked to ecological processes and strategical studies for urban and territorial planning. He is currently working with the landscape architect Melanie Theodosopoulou in their own studio, VM paisaje, dedicated to public space interventions, cartographic analysis and lanscape studies and research. Field researcher in nature conservation projects for years, he focuses on the understanding of the process based on contact with the environment and on-site experimentation.

She works in collaboration with Pepa Morán (l’obrador) and (az) paisatge, developing cartographies, territorial planning and projects of environmental restoration and public space. Previously she worked as an architect in several architecture studios in Austria. She is interested in research the transformative energy of the landscape, and pursues a project strategy as a collaborative and transdisciplinary experimental process that merges ecology, sociology, culture and economy to ensure new bonds with the environment.

Associate Professor at the School of Architecture in the Technical university of Crete. She has also been jury member of national and international awards (X Biennale Jury School Prize Rosa Barba Barcelona, Fassa Bartolo Sustainable Italia). Her own professional studio Topio7 works on projects of landscape, urban design. Main works are public spaces, urban parks, waterfronts, recuperation of postindustrial areas, enhancement of archaeological sites, and internacional competition prizes: 1st _Lykabettus Hill Theater, Athens / WLA Awards / 2nd _Salina park Larnaca, Cyprus/ 1st _ VII Bastelli Rome 2019&2017/ 7th International Landscape award Belgrade / 1st _ Ex cemetery regeneration park, Athens /1st _ Reuse of former lignite mines, Western Macedonia Her current research focuses on coastal landscapes and the city, through mapping and contemporary theories, on cultural landscapes and identity and on ecological design. Landscape Vice- director at Batlle i Roig. With over fourteen years of experience inside the company he leaded many projects, among them the more relevants are: Environmental Recovery of Llobregat River, Wooden walkway of the Green Ring d’igualada, Walkway-Lookout of Vall Salina in Cardona, Urbanization of Carrer Prat de la Riba aof Badalona City, Urbanization of Parcerisa Street in Barcelona, Provisional Urbanization of the Can Batlló Industrial Complex i, September 11th square in Sant Fruitós de Bages, and Landscape restoration of the Old Gypsum mines in Igualada. He has had the chance to work very actively in many projects along this river in the Barcelona Metropolitan Area. The central theme of his research project will be ‘the new sustainable mobility and its potential in the landscape transformation, merging city and nature’.

MELANIE THEODOSOPOULOU Architect UTH Thessaly, Greece Landscape Architect EEABB - ETSAB - UPC

Landscape architect specialized in cartography, landscape territorial analysis and planning. She is currently working with the Biologist and Landscape Architect Victor Adorno Bárcena in their own studio, VM paisaje, dedicated to public space interventions, cartographic analysis and landscape studies and research. Collaborates with (az) paisatge and several studios of architecture and urban planning in Greece. Former landscape architect at Doxiadis+ based in Athens. Her research interest focuses on the development of comprehensive cartographies that can incorporate landscape parameters and criteria, such as environmental, social and economic, into territorial and urban planning strategies.

Senior Project Landscape Director of Batlleiroig where she designs and develops several projects of public space, parks and green buildings. Previously she worked at OSA Architettura e Paesaggio based in Rome. She studied the evolution of the urban form and cartography as a planning tool; she is specialized in territorial dynamics and the natural and social processes that constantly change the landscape.
