Lewisville Independent School District (ISD), Marcus High School Athletic Complex / Flower Mound, TX
Lewisville ISD provided Marcus High School with a new football stadium. The stadium’s site plan included new public water lines to serve the restroom and concession buildings, private sanitary sewer lines, underground stormwater detention facilities; and parking spaces to achieve a 1:5 ratio for the stadium’s 10,000 seat capacity. The competition stadium and existing stadium sit in the same general location but required removing the current baseball field, several buildings and relocating the practice facilities. The sports complex included a new baseball field with locker rooms and offices; a new practice field and running track; a new competition softball field; and tennis courts with shared locker rooms and offices. The site included parking and preserved majestic Post Oak trees and a natural stream.

UNC Chapel Hill, Finley Fields / Chapel Hill, NC
With 28 varsity teams, UNC Athletics relies on fields, courts, diamonds and tracks to elevate the experience of their athletes and fans. McAdams repurposed several practice fields into a NCAA competition track and field complex dedicated to UNC’s Track & Field Program. The complex also boasts two new synthetic and turf fields for soccer and lacrosse, providing year-round competitive practice space.
NCino Soccer Complex / Wilmington, NC
The City of Wilmington retained McAdams to provide preliminary planning, due diligence and design services for a 60-acre soccer complex / brownfield redevelopment project. The site was owned by the Wilmington Hammerheads who donated the property to the City in exchange for financing to construct seven new tournament-quality soccer fields; restroom, concession buildings and expanded parking. The team coordinated closely with geotechnical and structural engineers as well as environmental scientists to ensure the site is stabilized for play and differential settling is minimized. McAdams was also the stormwater permitting lead for the project and developed a master stormwater plan for the project to streamline permitting and all future development on the park site.

UNC Chapel Hill, Kenan Stadium / Chapel Hill, NC
Kenan Memorial Stadium is located off of Stadium Drive near the center of campus within UNC Chapel Hill. The University is removing portions of the existing natural turf outside of the football field, along with portions of the existing asphalt paths running along the base of the stadium seats, to allow for construction of a synthetic turf area / collar around the existing football field. As part of this project, the existing fence and shrubs surrounding the field will be removed and there will also be renovations to existing utility infrastructure (e.g. sanitary sewer, electrical and plumbing infrastructure). McAdams provided design and construction administration expertise to transform all of the area at playing field level while safeguarding the carefully maintained football field turf.
Duke University, Faculty Club Pool / Durham, NC
The renovations to the Duke University Faculty Club were completed in 2014 and provide a world-class facility to the University. The Faculty Club is uniquely situated on the south side of Duke’s main campus adjacent to the Washington Duke Inn and golf course. Renovations to the Faculty Club included a new main clubhouse building (12,000 sf), pool facilities, athletics center, basketball courts, tennis courts and outdoor patio and event areas. McAdams worked with the project team to provide a seamless utility and stormwater management plan, incorporating two bioretention areas into the landscape and function of the facility.
Duke University, Athletics District / Durham, NC
McAdams teamed with a mechanical engineer to provide a comprehensive utility master plan for the entire Athletics District for the University, which was then used for final design and permitting for the multi-phase renovations to the facilities. As part of the overall design team, McAdams’ tasks included design and permitting of the civil utilities (stormwater, sanitary sewer and water); hydraulic storm and sanitary sewer modeling; and onsite stormwater management. Coordination was required with all disciplines on the project; including architecture, electrical, plumbing, mechanical and landscape architecture. There was also a heavy coordination effort with the team designing the Duke University owned thermal, electrical and telecommunication utilities located outside of the building.
Duke University, Softball Stadium / Durham, NC
McAdams was chosen as the civil engineer for the Softball Stadium located on Duke University’s East Campus. The Softball Stadium project consisted of construction of a new natural turf NCAA softball field, a field house with locker rooms, stadium seating (2,000 people), a new hardscape area adjacent to the stadium and utility improvements to serve the stadium. McAdams’ tasks included design and permitting of the civil utility (stormwater, sanitary sewer and water) to service the proposed buildings, hydraulic storm and sanitary sewer modeling, stormwater management design for the site and overall coordination with the design team in order to make the project a success. McAdams also provided construction administration services during the construction of the civil utilities on-site.
Duke University, Scott Family Pavilion / Durham, NC
As part of the overall Athletics District projects, Duke University constructed the Scott Family Pavilion adjacent to the existing Murray Building and Cameron Indoor Stadium. Scott Family Pavilion provides critical office space for athletics departments; a sports performance center; sports medicine space; athletics event ticketing; and a Duke Blue Devils Team Store. The location of this project is in the heart of the historic Athletics District with many unique utility rerouting and service challenges for all of the University’s utility systems. McAdams worked with the University, architect, contractor, and entire design team to bring this much-neeed project to life.
Duke University, Cameron Indoor Stadium / Durham, NC
Cameron Indoor Stadium is the home of Duke University’s Basketball teams. The Cameron Indoor expansion project consist of the addition of a roughly 16,000 square foot addition to the south side of the building, design and construction of the new Tribull Plaza concourse. McAdams’ tasks included design and permitting of the civil utilities; hydraulic storm and sanitary sewer modeling; stormwater management design for the site; and overall coordination with the design team in order to make the project a success. Coordination was required with all disciplines on the project including architecture, electrical, plumbing, mechanical and landscape architecture. McAdams provided onsite construction administration services for the civil utility installation to ensure project success.
UNC Chapel Hill, Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center / Chapel Hill, NC
McAdams worked with Rotman Architecture and the University of North Carolina at Chapel for advanced grading, utility and stormwater management studies as a continuation of initial concept studies previously performed by UNC. McAdams provided site survey, preliminary grading plans, earthworks analyses and preliminary stormwater management plans and stormwater control measures to assist the project team in decision making with more detailed plans for renovations to 12 existing courts; spectator seating; lighting; scoreboards; video cameras; pavilion; concessions; restrooms; reception area; hall of fame area; ticketing and alumni suites.
NC State University, Doak Baseball Field + Stadium / Raleigh, NC
The existing NC State Doak Baseball Field and Stadium renovations consist of a new NCAA playing field, player performance facility, new clubhouse and new fan game-day experiences. McAdams is part of EwingCole’s team to bring these improvements to reality with challenging utility relocations and stormwater management solutions. McAdams is providing due diligence; civil engineering; stormwater management; landscape architecture and construction administration services for this project.
UNC Wilmington, Outdoor Fields + Facilities Enhancement / Wilmington, NC
McAdams provided civil engineering design and permitting services for the UNC Wilmington Outdoor Fields and Facilities Enhancement project. This project consisted of the following improvements:
*Construction of two artificial turf fields encompassing roughly 6.1 acres;
*Enhancement / construction of two natural turf fields encompassing roughly 5.1 acres; *Construction of perimeter fencing; *Construction of three support buildings. Two buildings along Riegel Road contain restroom facilities, offices, meeting rooms and storage rooms for maintenance and athletic activities. A building along Hamilton Drive contains restroom facilities, storage rooms, along with rooms for merchandise, ticketing and concessions; and *Parking, an access road, utility and stormwater management improvements.
UNC Wilmington, Boseman Softball Field / Wilmington, NC
Located off of Hamilton Road, just north of its intersection with Hurst Drive on the main campus of UNC Wilmington, is the existing Boseman Softball Field.
In Summer 2014, McAdams was hired by UNC Wilmington to provide design and permitting services necessary for the implementation of an artificial turf outfield within the softball complex. This project was completed late Summer 2014. Services provided by McAdams include site grading and drainage, design of a “permeable pavement” stormwater management system, erosion control and permitting services through NCDEMLR for stormwater and erosion control.
LewisvilleHigh School, Goldsmith
Stadium Renovation / Lewisville, TX
This project included two main phases; the replacement of the existing turf on the stadium field and the addition of roughly 40,000 square feet of additional buildings that surround the stadium. McAdams and Fit Fields worked together to relocate existing field events that were previously inside the stadium to the practice field area outside the stadium to the south. Phase II included the addition of seven new ancillary structures and a new press box for the stadium. This phase also brought the existing storm system up to current standards while relocating and providing new service lines to all existing and proposed buildings. SUE was a critical element for this project as it allowed us to plan for utility conflicts before construction.

Fayetteville Tennis Center / Fayetteville, NC
This project provides the City of Fayetteville with a comprehensive Tennis Center that is capable of hosting lessons, open play and tournaments. The Tennis Center will ultimately feature four pickle ball courts, six clay courts, 10 hard courts and a center court with stadium seating. The project also includes a club house that boasts meeting spaces, locker rooms, restrooms, offices, a pro shop and outdoor gathering spaces. Once completed, this project promises to be a regional attraction and City showpiece for years to come.
Lee County, Athletic Complex / Lee County, NC
This project, located near the heart of Sanford, NC, is planned to be a regional athletic and community park. The park will feature natural and synthetic turf multi-purpose fields and several baseball diamonds. These athletic facilities will be accompanied by community park features, including picnic shelters, trails and play spaces. In collaboration with Lee County, our team is working through complex site challenges, including enhancing the existing natural features, solving challenges with site access and mitigating the impacts on existing utility infrastructure to develop plans for a park that will serve the Lee County citizens for generations to come.
Yeargan Park Athletic Park / Garner, NC
Located on an agrarian tract near historic downtown Garner, Yeargan Park celebrates the Town’s humble past and natural settings, while serving as a family-fun destination park. The concept for the park balances the preservation of the farmstead structures, a one-of-a-kind pecan grove and mature forest with active and adventure recreation opportunities for visitors of all ages and ability levels. The park concept offers a diversity of recreational amenities to provide a variety of experiences for all users, attracting patrons to return again and again. The multi-use fields offer additional space for the Town’s growing soccer and athletics program; tree top trails, zip lines and a pump track invite the thrill seeker; and a large playground, sprayground and open community gathering spaces offer fun for the whole family.
Moor Park, Baseball Complex Renovations / Mooresville, NC
Historic Moor Park has always been a part of Mooresville’s baseball history. Opening in 1936, it was home to the Mooresville Moor’s which was a tribute to the Moor brand towels woven at the Mill across the street from the park. The Mill has evolved into a commercial center that anchors business at the Southern end of Mooreville’s downtown core. The baseball field is now home to the Spinners which are part of the Southern College Baseball League. The field and facilities are being re-invisioned as part of an urban core that will serve as a gateway into downtown. Working with Fitfields and Adams + Associates a new vision has been cast to create a fan experience that is unique to Mooresville and its’ baseball history. Grand stands have been designed to reflect the architecture of the original field and will be flanked by a variety of seating areas for all ages that will include a high-top table bier garten; Adorondak chari sandbar seating adjacent to a hillside play kids zone; and box style seating adjacent to 1st and 3rd base dugouts for corporate events. This modern facility will provide state-of-the-art locker rooms and field upgrades to allow for Collegiate and wooden bat league level play. McAdams was sub to Fitfields.
