Dear MCC Members,

We continue to work toward completion of our Strategic Plan, I will share once finished. When you use any of the club facilities (golf, tennis, gym, pool), please remember to sign-in every time. Please know that we track usage in all venues. It helps me and the Board determine where capital funding needs to be applied. I thank you in advance for your help.

Pool season is almost here; this will be the first full season with the RAC finished. We’re starting to gear up with the hiring of pool managers, lifeguards, and service staff alike. I/we truly look forward to another great year. I’d like to thank Michael Puig, Director of Fitness for leading and organizing the entire process.

Speaking of the RAC, a special thank you to Frank who resigned unexpectedly as Director of Racquets. Circumstances forced him to leave and head back to Florida. Wishing him nothing but good luck for his future. In the interim, Hannia, Jeremiah, and Jacky will be leading the tennis program. A huge thank you to all three for stepping in and stepping up.

Also, please know that we continue with a full membership with a short waitlist. As I have stated many times: what a great time to be a member of McAllen Country Club. If you haven’t signed up for CLUBSTER, please do so. The app helps us communicate directly to your phone.

With that, I look forward to seeing you around your club, Jeff

Dear Members,

I am pleased to announce our new dinner menu additions, which have been added just in time for the Spring season. It is important to note that our Thursday Chef Features allow us to gather feedback on the dishes to include in our upcoming seasonal menus. We have gathered all the comments and suggestions received during the past season to create this new menu. Your feedback is valuable to determine what will be on the menus. We encourage you to join us and share your thoughts.

Apart from the savory dishes, we invite you to leave some space for our tempting dessert features, which will be introduced alongside our Thursday Chef Features.

We are also excited to announce that our mulberry tree is in season, and we will be incorporating it’s bounty into our menu offerings. Expect to indulge in homemade jams, preserves, and other seasonal treats made from freshly harvested mulberries (while supplies last).

Dear Members,

The 2024 Club Championship had a great turnout this year. In Flight One, Miguel Del Angel Jr. won for the third year in a row, defending his Club Champion title. Dan MacDonald played equally well and successfully defended his Senior Club Championship, while the net Senior Champion is once again, Yil Durak.

In the Women’s Flight, there was a three-way tie for first place at 176 between Marianne Seal, Brittany Gabrielson, and Lydia Couch. Brittany won the playoff which went three holes. Marianne Seal defended her title as the Senior Club Champion. Paik-Hee Nam won the net division.

In Flight Two, Phillip Veale won. His two-day total of 153 was four strokes ahead of second-place finisher, Edward “Lalo” Villareal.

In Flight Three, Danny Padilla won with a total of 167. Danny Gurwitz won first place low net with a two-day total of 140. Art Diaz captured second place low gross while Benton Beckwith was able to secure second place low net.

In Flight Four, the Super Senior Champion is LD Clopton, who posted a two-day total of 152. David Seal finished first place low net with a two-day total of 145. Kenny Hartley captured second place low gross with a final round of 73 while Raymond Jenkins captured second place low net with a two-day total of 147.

In the Legends Flight, Dale Fielder posted a two-day total of 160 to win while Dr. JJ Saenz was able to narrowly defeat Charles Zey to capture the net Legends title.

In the Junior Flight, Sawyer Freels defended his 2023 victory, as did our girl’s champion, Sofia Oliveira.

The Member-Guest is set to be played on April 24th to 27th. April 24th will be the practice round for the tournament. We strongly encourage you to make a tee-time. We will have 144 tournament players wanting to practice as well as the rest of the membership and their guests. It will be busy. The tournament proper will kick off on April 25th . The event has two shotgun starts, which will close the course over the three days of competition. We have the driving range and putting green available for non-tournament players to practice all week. Sunday, April 28th, the golf course will be open for all member play. Please plan your golf week accordingly.

McAllen Country Club will be hosting the South Texas PGA Prestige Tour on May 3rd to the 5th. The Srixon Billiard Factory Prestige Tour is the STPGA’s most elite and competitive level of junior golf. The practice round will be May 3rd. May 4th to the 5th, the tournament proper will kick off. The event will have a progressive start each day. More information will be available and posted on Clubster, Email Blast, and posted throughout the club as the event approaches. Mike
