2023 August Newsletter

Dear MCC Members,

Collectively, we must always remember:

We are LADIES AND GENTLEMEN SERVING LADIES AND GENTLEMEN. I would like to think that character is the most vital component of our membership and what makes MCC so special.

By the time you receive your newsletter, the Pool House / Tennis Shop renovation will be completed. Even if you don’t swim or play tennis, the new kitchen with the pizza oven is open and ready for service. Find time to visit, I know staff would be more than happy to show you around.

Speaking of the remodel, please see the insert for the Grand Opening on August 5th. The Pool House and Tennis will be open all day, with the party from 5-8pm. Pizza with other snacks will be complimentary with beverages upon signature.

Also, the House Committee with Board approval have a new dress code for your club (see insert). Please be aware and remind your guests as necessary. Your help moving forward is truly appreciated.

Work on the west patio continues. We encountered bigger issues than initially thought. Eddie and his maintenance staff uncovered drainage and support issues which are being rectified. The project may last a week longer, but it will be worth the extra time. I appreciate your patience.

If you haven’t signed up for CLUBSTER, please do so. The app helps us communicate directly to your phone. Lastly, we continue with a full membership with a waitlist. As I have stated many times, what a great time to be a member of McAllen Country Club. With that, I look forward to seeing you around your club,

NewMembers

Dear MCC Members,

We are thrilled to announce the completion of our much-anticipated Pool House Kitchen! It's been an exciting journey filled with challenges and triumphs, and we couldn't have done it without the collective effort from everyone involved.

Our dedicated team worked tirelessly to create the perfect pizza menu, testing and refining numerous recipes. Thanks to your valuable feedback, we've crafted a selection that we're confident you'll love. Special thanks to Brad Benter; he was instrumental in setting up our mobile ordering system, bringing the entire ordering process into the 21st century.

We must acknowledge the unwavering support from our membership, the Sports Committee, and the House and Social Committee. Your patience, suggestions, and collaboration motivated us to create the best dining experience for you.

We invite all members to join us for the grand opening event. Enjoy the delectable pizzas and the fantastic ambiance of our newly completed Pool House Kitchen with its brick oven pizzas! The first round of pizzas is on us on August 5th from 5-8pm!

We look forward to serving you!

MCC Golfing Membership,

McAllen Country Club will be removing bunker rakes from the golf course. Bunker rakes will be placed on the golf cart fleet, private carts and if anyone is walking, the golf shop will provide access to a rake. This policy will take effect on August 1st.

During this period, the golf shop will be educating our members on proper etiquette when using bunker rakes. The correct sequence of actions is to first locate your ball, determine the shortest distance to walk into the bunker to reach it. Take your desired club and the rake, hit your shot, and exit the bunker using the same path you entered to minimize the need for excessive raking. To ensure that all footprints are properly repaired, we recommend walking out backwards as you exit. Our goal is to always leave the course in better condition than we found it.

Remember, this is YOUR course, your country club. Please take pride in ownership.

Junior Camp Golf Tournament was July 21st. Another great showing for the kids that came out to give it their all.
