JULY 2022
Dear MCC Members: The dog days of summer continue... The bridge spanning the canal on #3 tee box is finished and in use. You could drive a tank over it. Thank you to the golfers for their patience in getting this resolved. I’d like mention that Veronica is now the club’s Catering Director. All private and member events will be handled by her. Also, Juan Solis and Victor Ramirez will be helping manage the dining rooms until a permanent solution for the position can be found. A huge thank you to all food & beverage staff. Another item worth mentioning is 24-hour security. Currently we have security guards only at night; however, I sincerely believe that with very troubling events over the last several years, the investment is more than worth it. June marks the end of our fiscal year. We await our audited financials, but overall a great year financially. A surplus in our operations coupled with the capital cash flow make for a bright future. Even with COVID and other challenges, MCC remains a stable, and prosperous club. What a great time to be a member. Again, a sincere thank you to ALL of our members for supporting MCC. Be safe whether on the golf course, tennis courts, or anywhere outside and keep hydrated. Please drive slowly through the parking lot, Summer means more kids around the pool area and clubhouse.. I look forward to seeing you around your club, and be safe,
Jeff Capital Project Updates: The Pool House construction will begin in late October. The parking lot is scheduled to be resealed and restriped in July. A Landscape Architect has been engaged to update the grassy area around the Roost and to beautify the lake area on hole #10.

Dear MCC Members: Our new summer menu is up and live starting the 1st of this month. Lots of fresh items to help you cool off along with some of the classics. There’s something for everyone. Speaking of new and choices; if you haven’t checked out our Sunday brunch lately you have been missing out. This is not your old clubs buffet, we have sushi, a taco bar, along with the staples like prime rib and the shrimp and oyster station. And the newest addition to the line up is the toast bar. No more stale bagels to go with your lox. Fresh and hot toasted the way you want and with the spread you prefer. Come check it out and bring your family and friends, you wont regret it. Seating is very limited due to volume; a reservation will help get you a seat at the table. And don’t forget to ask about our drink specials, can’t have brunch without a mimosa… or two.

Golf at MCC Dear MCC Members: The McAllen Country Club Golf Shop held our 5th annual “The Open” Championship on June 10th – 12th. The competitors competed over three rounds of golf in three different formats of play. Best of all it was played over three HOT days under the sun. Even with the stifling heat, our tournament players grinded it out till the end. In Flight One, the team of Dan MacDonald and Miguel Del Angel Jr. played consistent solid golf all three days of competition. Over the three days, their team received two net strokes which makes their scores even more impressive. They finished with a score of 196 / 17 under par. Right on their heels the entire weekend was the team of Rene Lopez and Nick Hernandez. They finished four strokes back. In Flight Two, the team of Ricky Sanchez and Tony Gamboa played incredible golf, brother-inlawing it to death. If one of them was out of the hole, the other would play great. It was a remarkable give-and-take, all weekend long. Their three day total of 196 matched flight one’s winning total. Finishing six strokes back, in second place, was the team of Yil Durak and Dr. Victor Haddad. They were clawing their way but couldn’t do enough against Ricky and Tony. Congratulations to all the winners and thank you to everyone for participating. Full final results for the tournament can be found on the website www.mcc-theopen2022.golfgenius.com. The GGID will be JUEMQG. This event is the last in our summer season with the tournament season resuming September 17th & 18th for the Working Man’s weekend. The Hole-in-One list keeps growing and we love it. There have been two aces, as of this writing, in the month of June. On June 5th, Jaboney Rodriguez aced hole #8. On June 14th, Dr. Salvador Mendez aced hole #2. That brings our total to 7 member aces for the year. Mr. Rodriguez and Dr. Mendez have joined John Beaman (2), David Oliveira, John Kittleman, and Calvin Lackey on a growing list of hole-in-ones. If you are unaware, McAllen Country Club has an Ace Club. Everyone can sign up for the Ace Club. The Ace Club’s purpose is to award those players that make a hole-in-one. If you are in the Ace Club, you are charged $5 for every ace made in that month. That five dollars goes to the player in the form of golf shop credit. You must be in the Ace Club to receive the credit. How do I sign up, you say. Just stop by the golf shop and tell the staff to sign you up. Next golf tournament on the schedule is the Working Man’s Championship, September 16th – 18th.
