NJulyewsletter 2023

Dear MCC Members, Collectively, we must always remember: We are LADIES AND GENTLEMEN SERVING LADIES AND GENTLEMEN.

I would like to think that a person ' s character is the most vital component of our membership and what makes MCC so special.

Pool house / Tennis renovation continues with its completion on the horizon. A special thank you to the Sports Committee for their time, energy, and effort in making the project a success. We are still sticking with the late June completion date with a soft opening soon after Please be mindful that once we receive our occupancy permit, it may take a week or so to get the pool house prepared for service Hopefully, the bathrooms will be available then and we can remove the temporary bathrooms

We will be closing the west patio for two weeks at the end of the month for repairs Maintenance will be adding additional support and replacing damaged planks I appreciate your patience, but it is a much needed repair

Also, I would like to thank the Board and membership of MCC for allowing my continued education As such, I was able to obtain my CCE (Certified Chief Executive) Certification from the Club Manager’s Association of America. Quite the honor, thank you.

Lastly, we continue with a full membership with a waitlist. As I have stated many times: what a great time to be a member of McAllen Country Club.

With that, I look forward to seeing you around your club,

The winners of The Open Championship are in Flight One, 1st place - Miguel Del Angel, Jr. and Phillip Veale and 2nd place was Carlos Del Angel and Roland Villarreal. Flight Two, 1st place - Sunil Wadhwani and Rob Richards and 2nd place was Bradon and Abbey Ater. Closest -to-the-Pin contests were on every par three. The winners are hole #2 - Polo Perez, hole #8 - Tato Tamez, hole #13 - Neil Chavez, and hole #15 - Tony Trad, Jr

The next big golf tournament will be in September, the Working Man’s Weekend This is a round robin golf tournament There are five nine-hole matches that you will play over the course of the two day weekend The winners of each flight will compete in a shootout at the conclusion of play on Sunday

Best way to combat the heat is to avoid it as much as possible Come out early in the morning or late afternoon Wear protective clothing and headwear that keeps you cool and protected from the sun ’ s damaging rays Drink water and take our cold wet towels with you as you play The greens are the hottest spot on the course Once you are on the green, learn to manage your green reading and execution of your stroke so you are spending less time on the putting surface You can be safe and still have fun on the course this summer. Learn to identify heat exhaustion before it becomes heat stroke. Watch for dizziness, excessive thirst, heavy sweating, nausea, and weakness. Move to a cooler area, stop playing or just come indoors.
