Dear MCC Members,
We continue to work toward completion of our Strategic Plan. I know that I have been mentioning for some time now, but a thorough plan takes at least a year to compile. We have finalized our Mission and Vision Statements, Core Values, and Strategic Pillars, but the board is still working on the capital project component of the plan. Member meetings will take place in July and August. I’ll keep you posted as the dates are finalized.
With this month we segue into summer lunch buffets. As in the past, for the months of July and August, we will reduce the daily buffets to Wednesday and Sunday Brunch. Summer slows down to a point that five daily buffets does not make sense. We will continue food service from the south kitchen and RAC Café, providing members with options.
Speaking of the RAC, summer open swim will begin Mondays at 3pm, Tuesday, Thursday 7-10am, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday 8 - 10am with staff from 10am-9pm Tuesday - Sunday. I know members like to have access earlier, but the maintenance crew needs some time to clean the pool. With summer heat and wind, the pool will get dirty and chemicals imbalanced on a daily basis.
Also, I am in the final stages of hiring a Director of Racquets, and I should have the person in place in early July. As I have mentioned, if you need anything in the interim, please reach out to Hannia, Jackie, or Jeramiah; they are here to help.
Are you interested in serving on a committee? Please let me know as we are always looking for good volunteer members to help advise both management and the board. Please know that service on the board is always preceded by committee service.
Please remember when booking your pool parties, be sure to start by reaching out to Veronica, the Director of Catering. No party is too big or small. With her help, parties can be organized, managed, and staffed accordingly without disrupting the experience of your fellow members.
Lastly, we continue with a full membership with a short waitlist. As I have stated many times: what a great time to be a member of McAllen Country Club.
With that, I look forward to seeing you around your club, Jeff

Dear Members,
For July and August our lunch buffet will be available exclusively on Wednesdays and additionally we will continue to serve Sunday Brunch. The Hickory Grill, Pecan, Roost and RAC Café will also be available all operating days, offering various delicious options.
Looking ahead to the fall, I am excited to announce a revamp of our dinner menu beginning in August. The new format will have a steakhouse-inspired theme, offering an expanded selection of limited-time Chef’s Features that will run for the entire month. This change allows more time for everyone to savor our offerings.
Don’t forget that the pool season is in full swing, and the RAC Café is available for all members, not just tennis players and swimmers. It’s the perfect spot to grab a quick bite before teeing off or to order a convenient to-go meal to accommodate your busy day.
With the longer summer days, enjoy everything the club has to offer from sunrise to sunset, from juice and latte with breakfast to club sandwiches or pizza in the afternoon or a charcoal grilled prime steak for dinner.

Dear Members,
On the Fourth of July, the golf shop will host the annual Flag Tournament. This event will not interfere with regular play. You play with your regular group. The cost for the event is $20. You will be handed a flag with your net score (par plus your handicap). When you hit your net score, you will stick your flag in the ground to mark that spot. Wherever this shot comes to rest, you will stick your flag in the ground to mark your spot. It’s a fun event to test to see how far along you can make it on your handicap strokes.
Due to the high volume of play on Saturday and increased traffic on the first tee, the golf shop has begun implementing a new first tee procedure for Saturday mornings. Everyone ready to play will be asked to park off the cart path behind the reed grass (tall grass shrubs) or by the putting greens.
The new procedure:
1. Report to the Course Marshal – give your name and size of the group. If your group needs more than one tee-time, provide the Marshal with one name for each tee-time
2. Everyone will wait off the cart path. The cart path will be clear to allow for easy access to the first tee, driving range and for players coming off the 9th .
3. Groups will arrive at the tee when the sign-in name is called and begin play. We will alert the second group to prepare so the flow is smooth and there is no one rushing to the tee.
4. The Marshal/Golf Pro will be the only individuals allowing play to start on the back nine. This request will only be allowed if the back nine is open and available. The golf shop staff are only responsible for signing you in. Please do not ask them for permission to start on the back nine; the staff will direct you to the Marshal/Golf Pro on hole #1.
5. The Golf Shop will be enforcing this rule all morning until the tee area has cleared.
6. The PA system will be utilized so you will be able to clearly hear your name being called.
These systems will be in place to provide the membership and their guests with clear direction and a more enjoyable start to their round. There may be some initial bumps in the road, but I know this will create a first-class experience. Golf shop staff will inform everyone at the start of the day this Saturday.
