MCALLEN COUNTRY CLUB

MAY 2022

Dear MCC Members, Hope you are enjoying your spring so far, enjoying these nice windy days. It won’t be long until the heat of summer is upon us, so enjoy it while you can.

Speaking of enjoying your club, member dining covers are at an all-time high. Reservations are never required as we would never turn a member down for dining at their club, but it certainly helps to call in advance. Sundays are especially busy with brunch, often with wait times for walk-ins. If possible, please take a second to call the club for a reservation. Another issue staff is trying to tackle is our dress code. I noticed on Easter that several members and many guests were not dressed appropriately for the country club. Please remember that shorts and t-shirts are not allowed at the club north of the Members Lounge. Children need to dress up as well. Please remind your guests that MCC does have a dress code and help us ensure that it is being adhered to. Thank you in advance for your help. Everyone truly appreciates it. Also, based on member input, starting in June, we will be opening for breakfast at 8:00am Tuesday – Friday and the usual 7:30am Saturday and Sunday in the Roost and Hickory. Please support your club so we can continue with these hours when summer is over. Lastly, the Sports Committee and staff are finishing the construction plans for the pool house remodel. As I get more information, we will share with the membership with renderings and updates. I look forward to seeing you around your club, and be safe,

Jeff Bill Ranganath age 96 & Paul Zech age 94, celebrating their birthdays at the club. These two gentlemen have 23 holes between the two of them. Amazing. Happy Birthday to you both!

Golf at MCC The 2022 Club Championship is officially in the books.

In the Women's Flight, Marianne Seal has reclaimed her title of Club Champion. She won in a sudden death playoff over the 2021 Champion, Brittany Gabrielson. Keesha Zey held on to win the net portion by eight strokes. In the Super Senior Flight, Mike Schroeder and Bob McCreery finished tied and they too went into a sudden death playoff. Mike Schroeder won the playoff to claim the title of Super Senior. In the net portion of the Super Senior Flight, Dale Fielder wasn't going to let anyone have his title; he held on to win with consistent play. In Flight Two, Tony Trad Jr. finished with a solid round of 79 to edge out Richard Wilson and win. In the net portion of Flight Two, Steve Ghavidel posted an equal round of 79 for a net 69 to win the net portion by seven strokes. In Flight One, Miguel Del Angel Jr. played some solid steady golf to edge out our four-time bridesmaid Calvin Lackey by a single shot. The Senior Champion of 2022 is none other than our steady eddie, himself, LD Clopton. The net Senior Champion of 2022 is our "2021 People's Champion" Chris Wicker.
