Dear MCC Members,
Pool house / Tennis renovation continues. I’ve been told a late June completion date. As we will begin soft opening at the end of May, we have rented a food truck to bridge the gap between those dates. It isn’t beautiful, but the rental stock of mobile kitchens is around zero. We looked into purchasing one, but new and used are waaaaay over our budget.
Also, as I’ve mentioned before, your club is now on a waiting list; demand to be a member of MCC is at an all-time high. Please know it doesn’t mean that we aren’t accepting applications, as members do resign. Also know that the Board is prioritizing Legacy Memberships (immediate family members), but they are vetting as critically on merit as non-legacy memberships, so keep that in mind if you are submitting a recommendation letter on their behalf.
As Mother’s Day approaches, please make your reservations early. The event fills up very quickly which leads to a waitlist. Unfortunately, we had to start a waitlist over a week prior to Easter this year. We would love to fit everyone in, but when we approach 600 attendees, it becomes impossible to feed that many members and their guests comfortably.
Lastly, if you haven’t already, please sign up for CLUBSTER. We are transitioning to this club-specific, member only app which allows us to communicate with our members in real time.
Finally, as I’ve stated many times: what a great time to be a member of McAllen Country Club.
With that, I look forward to seeing you around your club, Jeff

April was an exciting month for the club. Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Easter Brunch. It was heartwarming to see so many families come together and enjoy the festivities. Our members have been actively participating in the events, and we're thrilled to see so much enthusiasm. Because of demand, it is highly recommended to make reservations for dining and all events.
We have a lot of exciting events planned for the upcoming months. From more wine tastings to golf tournaments, we're confident there's something for everyone. Keep an eye on your newsletter, emails, and Clubster for all the latest updates.
Also, we've recently updated our kitchen with a new Josper Grill, a high-temperature charcoal oven which allows for faster cooking times and more flavorful dishes. This means we can create unique and delicious meals. Come and taste the difference for yourself!
We are constantly enhancing our facilities and services. Our recent kitchen update is a testament to our ve the best

There were two aces made in April. The first was made by Sunil Wadhwani. He was told by his playing partners that his ball sailed over the green on the 8th hole…out of bounds. While Matt Kelly and Sunil looked for Sunil’s golf ball, Sergio Valdez putted out. When Sergio went to pull out the flag, he found Sunil’s ball at the bottom of the cup. Hole-in-one!! This was Sunil’s sixth hole-inone. From 167 yards out, Sunil jarred his 8 iron. Congratulations Sunil!!! The second ace came from Andres Alejo. This was Andres first ACE!! Andres aced the 13th hole striking his 6 iron as pure as the morning sun. It was witnessed by Tato Tamez, Steven Ghavidel, Rogelio Garza and Dr. Antonio DeGorordo. Congratulations Andres !!!
The Men’s Tuesday Night League is in full swing. The league began play on April 11th and will conclude (weather permitting) on July 25th. Weekly results are posted in the golf shop, robber’s roost, men’s locker room and the snack stand by hole #6. The golf shop will send out results weekly via email. If you haven’t already given the golf shop your email, stop by the golf shop and tell the staff you would like to be added to the weekly email list. Also, the Roost and Kitchen stays open until 8pm on Tuesdays to accomodate our Tuesday League!
Prepare your calendar for the next big golf event on May 20th and 21st. McAllen Country Club will be hosting the 2nd annual Casi Medio Golf Tournament. This event is an exact copy of the Año Nuevo - 27 holes of golf each day, 3 different formats of play. View the tournament sheet for more tournament information. This event is limited to member/member or member/guest teams only; no guest/guest teams.
