Dear MCC Members,

On Monday, Oct. 10th, McAllen Country Club hosted our first annual “Tee’d Off at Breast Cancer”. We had a great turnout for our first event. The event was open to members and non-members wishing to help support a very worthy cause. The team of Ismael “Kino” Flores, Sergio Valdez, Marcus Montalvo, and Noe Martinez won the event. The team of Kenny Hartley, Dr. Rodrigo Eraña, Maialen Eraña, and Bill Greer finished in third place. More importantly, we were able to raise $2,279. Big thank you to everyone that came out to participate and help to support the cause. Mark your calendars for the next year, Oct. 9th, 2023.

On November 19th and 20th, McAllen Country Club will be playing the 24th annual Millennium Cup. 2022 will be the start of a new Best of Five series. Your team captains, for this upcoming first round, will be Chuck Gomez and Kenny Hartley. The Millennium Cup is the club’s Ryder Cup. For twenty-three years, it has been one color vs another color. From 1999 to 2009, it was the Gold team vs the Black team. Gold team was the ultimate winner of that series, winning 7 Cups. From 2010 to 2014, it was Blue vs Red. This was one of the most exciting series. Red team won the first two and looked like it was going to be a clean sweep. The Blue team came back and won the final three matches. From 2015 to 2018, it was Grey vs Purple. Grey did short work of the Purple team winning that series 3 to 1. The now famous, “Friendship Cup”, was a clean sweep. From 2019 to 2021, the Green team tried their best every year, but just kept coming up short. The Gold team won that series 3 to 0. This year, there will be no color assigned to a team. Captains drew a name for their team. Captain Chuck Gomez and his Co-Captain Eddie Cantu are now, Team Stinger. Captain Kenny Hartley and Co-Captain Tony Trad are now, Team Four Aces.

Titlest Demo Day - December 12th

The Two Man Championship and the Two Woman Championship is officially in the books. In the Two Woman Championship, the team of Marianne Seal and Dianna Reed held tightly to their lead and won by eight points. Finishing in second place was the team of Dr. Fredricka Borland and Bonnie Miles.

In the Two Man Championship / Flight One, the team of Roland Villarreal and Carlos Del Angel were just firing on all eight cylinders this weekend. They finished nine points over second place. There was a three way tie for second place; Tony Trad / Jonathan Wehrmeister, Andres Alejo / Steven Ghavidel and Cameron MacDonald / Ronald Clayton. In Flight Two, the team of Jason Leal and Thomas Davidson proved to be too much for everyone in their flight. This marks back-to-back wins for the dynamic duo. Finishing in second place, with tons of birdies in the final round (which proved to be not enough), was the team of Art Diaz and Sean Donnelly.

Big thank you to everyone who played. For full tournament results, visit the tournament website is www.mcc-2022twomanchampionship.golfgenius.com. Enter the GGID code : UVXPRU.
