Newsletter MCALLEN COUNTRY CLUB OCTOBER 2022
Dear MCC Members,
First of all, please know that the Board voted unanimously to approve an initiation fee increase for new members. General went to $15,000 and Social, $7,500.
While area clubs are decreasing or eliminating their initiation fees, MCC’s continue to rise. This is one of the first and best indicators of a thriving club. Not that we don’t need to continue to improve, but a sure sign of hard work paying off A huge thank you to all members and staff who contribute to the MCC “buzz ”
As I mentioned last month, the parking lot was to be resealed; unfortunately, issues arose that kept it from happening, but please know the project should be completed soon.
Speaking of the parking lot, new LED lighting will be installed this month. Not only will the new lighting provide more and better lighting, but it will also be much more efficient.
Lastly, I’d like to personally thank Mr. Jason Leal for his dedication, leadership, and support over the past year as your MCC President. He is a true asset to the club. My sincerest thank you, sir.
MCC will be open on Monday, October 10th for the federal holiday.
Please be safe whether on the golf course, tennis courts, or anywhere outside and stay hydrated.
I look forward to seeing you around your club, and be safe,
Jeff

WELCOME NEW MEMBERS Sending
The new seasonal dinner menu is live and ready for you to enjoy. And as always, we tried to keep your favorites and change what we could Some items are easier to remove than others, but trust me, it's no easy task. We strive for a dynamic, rotating menu by changing with the growing seasons and then tailoring our menu items around them. Currently, we are bringing in butternut squash, French breakfast radish, Brussel sprouts, and fennel We buy from local vendors wherever we can and frequent many farmer's markets weekly. So keep an eye out for future specials that feature hyper seasonal, hyper local, which support the growers specifically in our region. The summer dearth is over; it's time to enjoy the fall bounty.
From Fidel's Fields: Our Sous Chef, Fidel Fonseca, has been hard at work all summer tending to our greenhouse, sometimes unsuccessfully to keep our herbs growing during the hot summer months. He has successfully sustained the basil, mint, rosemary, and Cuban oregano alive and healthy. If it's not the heat, it's the raccoons, so he's got his work cut out. Next time you see him, ask him about what he's growing or plans to grow next. He's got quite the green thumb and enthusiasm for his fresh herbs in the garden. Maybe he'll tell you all about the radish our friendly raccoon neighbors got to, among others
