BVCC buzz Look who’s talking about Brook Valley CC! Please enjoy a few of our favorite social media mentions below – and keep sharing your experiences by tagging us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for a chance to be featured in the next newsletter.

sarahmidgett Annabelle had her very first swim meet tonight as the Brook Valley Barracudas took on the Minges Makos. We were so proud of her for going the whole length of the pool without having to hold onto or pull herself forward by the lane rope. Many of these girls have been doing this for years, so we don’t think this was bad at all for someone who had a migraine for two of the four total practices she’s had so far, and is still gaining in strength and confidence as a swimmer. #yetanothersport #thatsfournow #shelikestobebusy #sportygirl #tiredmama

lamamoney Second place in his group today. Super proud but mainly because he said he had fun

TEE IT UP & TURF TALK 2021 SPRING SCRAMBLE RESULTS

GREETINGS BVCC MEMBERS

CONGRATULATIONS TO ROD JOHNSON & RICH RADOS - THE 2021 SPRING SCRAMBLE CHAMPIONS!! The inaugural Two-Man Spring Scramble was huge success and what a fantastic debut it was for the event! We had a fun new format for everyone to enjoy, recognized a lot of great winners, and had an awesome "Fiesta Fling" on Saturday night. Thanks to everyone that participated!!

Summer has arrived and it has certainly made a memorable entrance. We have seen drought for weeks, flooding for days, high temperatures, and fair weather. Its been quite an interesting start to the growing season. All things considered, we are looking good and are looking forward to a great summer on the course.

We had three tournaments in one for the Spring Scramble, a Pinehurst Scramble on Saturday, a Captain's Choice on Sunday, and also a combined overall total to determine our Flight Winners. In addition the lowest combined total out of the entire field was recognized as our Overall Champions.

With any challenge there is always a lesson to be learned. Even a serious drought can be a good thing. During long periods with no rain our irrigation system was tested. We found quite a few areas that were not being irrigated properly. Some irrigation heads needed a simple adjustment, others needed to be replaced, repaired, or upgraded. Most fixes were quick, while others remain challenging. As a golf course ages, and areas are top-dressed with sand, irrigation heads appear to sink as the soil around them rises. Before the entire system is optimized, you will likely see us digging quite a few holes to level heads and repair leaks. We hope to have the system dialed in by the end of the summer.

Rod Johnson and Rich Rados finished the tournament at an impressive 13 under par to become our first Spring Scramble Champions. A huge congratulations goes out to you both on a tournament well played. Full results can be seen by using on the link below to the Spring Scramble Portal. Scores from each round as well as overall can be found along with course and player stats and photos from the tournament and the Fiesta Fling. https://www.golfgenius.com/pages/7371914675908261901

FOLDS OF HONOR GOLF MARATHON DAY UPDATE Thank you again for your support the Brook Valley team of Riley Kinlaw, Ashley Odom, Dave Larson, and Travis Weber on our Folds of Honor Golf Marathon. As a foursome, our team played 97 holes, made 39 birdies, an eagle, three bogeys and the rest pars. Through your generous donations Brook Valley Country Club raised $16,292! We surpassed the McConnell Golf goal set for our club of $15,000 and went well above and beyond our personal team goal of $5,000! The donations you have made will go towards providing educational scholarships for the families of those that either lost their lives or were severely wounded serving our country. Every $5,000 raised provides ONE FULL SCHOLARSHIP! As a company, McConnell Golf has raised over $280,000 and broke the single donation day mark by over $70,000, playing 4,448 holes in total!! We truly appreciate all the support our team received. The Folds of Honor would not be able to do what they do without committed and generous people like you! We are overwhelmed at what we were all able to accomplish. Thank you so much! Riley Kinlaw, Ashley Odom, Dave Larson, Travis Weber

2021 GPRO TOUR & HV3 PRO-AM RESULTS Congratulations to Thomas Bass on winning the 2021 GPRO Tour Greenville Open at Brook Valley! Thomas played impressive golf, shooting 67-71-69 to win by two over Zach Edmondson. Thanks again to all members that provided host housing and to our membership for their support of both the tournament and HV3 Pro-Am. Use the link below for full tournament results as well as course and player stats for the week:

Similarly, when heavy rains came, we were able to address drainage concerns. We have compiled a list of areas that need to have drainage improved or runoff redirected. Some areas are only a concern if we receive an unusually severe weather event. Other areas will require the installation of a simple drainage system. The priority will be irrigation repair, but these drainage challenges will eventually be addressed as well. The areas of sod around our green’s complexes have rooted well and are fitting in nicely. We continue to fertilize weaker areas throughout the course as the summer progresses. Warm summer temperatures, proper fertility, and efficient use of water should lead to improved turf conditions by the end of the growing season. Turf health will always be our priority; however, we are in the planning stages of several other projects with hopes to improve your golfing experience. As these projects take shape, we will certainly share more information. In the meantime, rest assured that improvements are in the works. We are working hard to make sure you have the best possible golfing experience every day. Brook Valley is a beautiful property and we are so glad you get the privilege of playing here. Until next time, get out there and enjoy a round of golf. Buckley Brockmann Brook Valley Superintendant

https://gprotour.bluegolf.com/.../contest/1/leaderboard.htm We’d also like to thank everyone for all their support of this year’s GPRO Tour Pro-Am benefiting Harold Varner III’s HV3 Foundation. Through the event we were able to raise $3,000 to help gives kids access to golf that might not otherwise be able to. Congratulations to the team of Austin Wood, Adam Hathaway, Cam Hardison and Pro Peyton Shore on winning the event at 18 under par. Thanks to all our sponsors for your support! EXCLUSIVELY BOTTLED FOR MCONNELL GOLF

ABOUT THE CORLEY FAMILY The Corley family owns and manages some of the finest vineyard properties in the world, including a wine production of singular quality and distinction. The 80-acre Monticello Vineyards Estate in Napa Valley includes five vineyards, a winery, tasting room, as well as culinary and hospitality facilities. It has been a destination for fine wine lovers and visitors from around the world since the 1980s. The Corley family has grown from humble beginnings to now farming multiple vineyards in the Napa Valley. The Estate and Knollwood Vineyard in the Oak Knoll District is planted to Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Syrah varietals.

KNOLLWOOD VINEYARD RIGHT BANK RED BLEND I NAPA VALLEY Masterfully crafted by renowned winemaker Chris Corley, the 2018 blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon was exclusively bottled for McConnell Golf. The grape varietals were hand-picked, then destemmed and berry-sorted on the crush pad. The wine was aged in New 1/3 French oak barrels for 26 months. The primary blend was assembled at 12 months, with secondary blending at 18 months, and final blend-strokes being done at 26 months. This blend has dark, luscious aromas and flavors of blackberry, anise with undercurrents of lightly toasted oak and hints of vanilla. There is a hint of pepper, and nice waves of ripe dark berry fruit on the palate. 58% Merlot, 37% Cabernet Franc, 5% Cabernet Sauvignon
