CLUB UPDATES & EVENTS

Summer is in full swing! The weather is warm, the drinks are cold, and we are excited to see everybody out and about enjoying Country Club of Asheville to its fullest capacity! There are many fun events happening in July and August at CCA We kick off July with the exciting culmination of our annual Member-Guest tournament and roll right into our 4th of July Cookout. Christmas in July returns to the pool this year with a visit from a special someone all the way from the North Pole on his Summer Break! Our very own North Asheville Fins Swim Team will be hosting their hosting their home swim meet We invite everyone to come out and cheer on our younger members. The Sunsets Around the World dinner series continues with Sunsets in America and Asia Be on the lookout for ticket information coming out from McConnell Golf regarding the Wyndham Championship at Sedgefield Country Club Ladies Day and Men’s Club Championships put a nice bow on our exciting summer. With so much going, you will not want to miss a thing!

Summertime is here (even though it doesn’t quit feel like it some days) and we have a busy golf calendar for the summer!

Now is a perfect time to get your golf game ready for these upcoming tournaments, the professional staff in the golf shop offer individual and group lessons. We will also have one day group clinics throughout the summer working on chipping, pitching, bunker play and putting (more informationtofollow).

Alsowhenhittingballsonthedrivingrangepleasekeepall shots within the limit of the driving range, please obey the irons only sign when we are using the front of the driving rangeteebox Idoaskthatwhenweareallowingdriversto behittopleaseaimdowntheleftsideofthedrivingrange.I know I am only speaking to a few members but please remember that #17 green is just on the other side of the driving range and golf balls have come close to hitting members in the past. We want to keep everyone as safe as possiblewhenonthegolfcourse.

Dress Code:

Folds of Honor was a big success, thank you to everyone that supported the club and our 100 hole journey. It took myself, Ross, Ashely and Colton about ten hours to finish, but the weather was perfect and Ashley had her first Hole in One on #13 Congratulations!!

Men please remember to always have your collared shirts tucked in and hats worn correctly. This applies not only while on the golf course but when using the practice facilities as well.

Spring is almost over and Summer is fast approaching! The Spring season was fun and eventful down at the tennis and pickleball courts My second daughter, Mia, was born April 14th and on May 25th the CCA tennis hosted Special Olympics!

There are many exciting things to look forward to this summer including summer camps, junior tennis tournaments and adult tennis events! The summer clinic schedule has begun; please check the CCA website and click “Tennis” for an updated clinic schedule 4th of July we will have a tennis round robin at 10am where we will be raffling off free clinics and coupons for tennis merchandise August 26th we will be hosting a Junior USTA tennis tournament! So, if you have kids that are ready to take their tennis to the next level, this is a great opportunity to get them involved Sports Camps are filling up fast so if you are interested in enrolling your kids be sure to sign up on the club calendar

Take in professional tennis with fellow McConnell Golf members at the ATP Tour’s Winston-Salem Open. Tickets are good for both the stadium court and outside courts from 2pm until the last match is completed. McConnell Golf will have its own red zone parking lot area with tents and tables. JULY: KEY LIME COOKIE

Ron Gordils - Executive Chef at Sedgefield CC

Ingredients

1 1/2CupsAll-Purpose Flour

1/2CupCornstarch

1Cup Butter, softened

1CupPowdered Sugar, plus more for dusting

2TBSPKey Lime Juice

3TBSPKey Lime Zest

DIRECTIONS:

Whisk together the flour and cornstarch Set aside Beat butter and powdered sugar together until light and fluffy. Beat in key lime juice and zest. Mix in flour mixture just until combined. Refrigerate dough for at least 1 hour.

Preheat oven to 350°F

Line cookie sheets with parchment paper or spray with cooking spray

Scoop out cookie dough (about 1½ tablespoons) and form into a ball.

Place on prepared cookie sheet and bake for 17-19 minutes or just until tops begin to turn golden Remove and promptly sift lots of powdered sugar over the top of the cookies Let the cookies cool completely on the cookie sheets before moving Store in an airtight container for up to 1 week.

AUGUST: PECAN OATMEAL RAISIN COOKIES

Ingredients

3/4 Cup Butter, softened

3/4 Cup White Sugar

3/4 Cup Light Brown Sugar, packed

2 Large Eggs

1 TSP Vanilla Extract

1 1/4 Cups All-Purpose Flour

1 TSP Baking Soda

3/4 TSP Ground Cinnamon

1/2 TSP Salt

2 3/4 Cups Rolled Oats

1 Cup Pecans, toasted

1 Cup Raisins

DIRECTIONS:

Preheat the oven to 375°F Line two cookie sheets with parchment paper or silicone liners

Beat butter, white sugar, and brown sugar in a large bowl until smooth and creamy Beat in eggs and vanilla until fluffy Stir together flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt Gradually beat into the butter mixture Stir in oats, toasted pecans and raisins

Drop teaspoonfuls of batter onto the prepared cookie sheets

Bake in the preheated oven until golden brown, 8 to 10 minutes, switching racks halfway through.

Remove from the oven and let sit on the cookie sheets for 1-2 minutes before transferring cookies to a wire rack to cool completely.
