Manager'sMessage

I am both thrilled and a bit emotional to share some significant news with you After nearly six amazing years of being part of this incredible team, I have been honored with the opportunity to step into the role of Vice President of Operations for McConnell Golf This exciting new chapter in my career, however, comes with a personal change for my family and I which will require us to relocate to Raleigh by early next year

While I am looking forward to the opportunity this role will bring, leaving this team and the relationships we ’ ve built is not easy The support, collaboration, and belief you have had in me over the years have been instrumental in my journey, and I am deeply grateful for the experiences we ’ ve shared My first year was one for the ages with the challenges from Hurricane Florence, bankruptcy, Covid, and then transition to McConnell Golf It’s with great pride to see how far we have come as a community, and I will be forever grateful to have had this opportunity to contribute to the legacy of Porters Neck Country Club and community I promise that PNCC will continue to be my pride and joy and that I will still provide my support in the coming years

In tandem with this transition, it brings me great pleasure to announce the promotion of James Patterson to General Manager of Porters Neck CC. JP has been an integral part of McConnell Golf leadership over the past 18 years. He has been a dedicated and invaluable member of our team, demonstrating outstanding leadership, vision, and deep commitment to enhancing the members’ experience. I have every confidence that under his guidance, the day-to-day operations of the club will thrive and continue to meet the highest standards we all cherish

Both JP and I are committed to ensuring a seamless transition and look forward to serving you in our new roles. We’re excited about what the future holds and remain deeply appreciative of your support and involvement in making our club and community a truly special place I thank you all for your support as I embrace this exciting new role and my continued growth with McConnell Golf

COOKIE OF THE MONTH

White Chocolate & Cranberry Cookies

Recipe byKenricHunt

Thank you to Kenric Hunt, Executive Chef at Brook Valley Country Club, for sharing this recipe with us! This is what he had to say. “Every year, without fail, my grandma and I would gather in her cozy kitchen to make her famous white chocolate and cranberry cookies for Christmas. It was our cherished tradition, the perfect mix of flour, sugar, and laughter. As we measured, mixed, and baked, the kitchen would fill with the irresistible aroma of those festive treats The cookies weren't just delicious; they were a warm and comforting reminder of the love we had for one another ”

Ingredients

1/2 cup packed brown sugar

1/2 cup white sugar

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 large egg

1 tablespoon brandy

Directions

1 1/2cups all-purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1 cup dried cranberries

3/4 cup white chocolate chips

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) Grease 2 cookie sheets

Beat brown sugar, white sugar, and butter with an electric mixer in a large bowl until creamy

Add egg and brandy and beat until incorporated

Combine flour and baking soda in a separate bowl Stir flour mixture into the butter mixture until just combined Fold in cranberries and white chocolate chips

Drop batter by heaping spoonful onto the prepared cookie sheets

Bake in the preheated oven for 8 to 10 minutes, switching racks halfway through; cookies will still appear slightly doughy

Remove from the oven and let cool briefly on the cookie sheets before transferring to wire racks to cool completely

PACEOF PLAY

Please remember our pace of play time is 4 hrs. and 8 minutes for 18 holes. Here are a few hints to help your groups with pace of play:

New Golfers or high handicaps players should use the forward tees.

Minimize practice swings. Put a ball mark repair tool, two ball makers and tees into your pocket at the first tee.

Allow faster groups to play through

Take the divot bottle that is on the cart, to your next shot so that you do not have to go back for it after the shot

Carry a spare ball in your pocket so that you do not have to go back to your bag when you need to hit a provisional ball

Take more than one club to your next shot f h d d ff r

If you are the passenger, take more than one club to your shot and proceed down the fairway after your shot. Do not wait for the driver to pick you up.

When in doubt hit a provisional ball. Eliminate the need to go back to where you hit your last shot.

Limit your search for a lost ball to three minutes.

If your next shot is with your pitching wedge or sand wedge, automatically take your putter with you.

Park golf carts to the side or behind the green so that when you finish putting you will be moving away from the field of play and towards the next tee

Study your line of putt while others are putting

Continue putting until your ball is holed

If you are the first in the cup, pick up the flagstick so that you can replace it after the last person has putted out

Mark scorecards on the next tee box, not on or next to the putting green

On shots where players who cannot reach the green should hit when ready

Always keep up with the group ahead of you
