a3james Really proud of @scottstallings. Top 5 finish in @barracudachampionship on Sunday. Flight from Reno to SFO to ATL to TYS and 15 hours later he’s at @holstonhills supporting his Kid’s Play Free Program back home in Knoxville. Love the dedication to this great cause that allows so many kids the opportunity to play golf that wouldn’t otherwise have a chance. Great work SS!!

TGADarrenReese

Today, I was able to spend the afternoon playing one of Knoxville’s best courses @holstonhills for the #helenrossmcnabbcenter golf tournament. A great Donald Ross design, it was in great condition, and played true every hole. It’s a course I get to look forward to every year, and every time I play, it gets better and better.

Even when the weather is ugly it’s still pretty @HolstonHillsCC

DINING EVENTS A LETTER FROM CHEF PATRICK Summer time has come and gone too quickly this year, but we’re entering my favorite time of the year. I personally love the fall and the cool weather. The fall flavors are unmatched in my opinion. In August we saw the debut of our Friday Night Dinner Menu which will see changes weekly, like we normally do. The menu features options that are only available on Friday evenings. The staff and I are very proud of offerings and we’re excited to keep up with a changing menu. September will see an updated seasonal Lunch Menu as well. We are hosting our Annual Kids Halloween Party on October 30th and featuring our 2nd Annual Staff Chili Cookoff. The rivalries have already started amongst the staff to see who will take home the prize this year. Come on by, get dinner and try out our staff’s amazing offerings and vote on your favorite! This editions recipe is our Balsamic Tomato Jam that we featured on our August’s Burger of the Month, our Caprese Burger. The jam can be used as a dip with crackers, toast points, or on a sandwich or wrap. You can also mix it of a radio of 1 cup Jam to 2/3 Cup Cream Cheese for a Creamy Dip that you would serve at room temp or chilled. I prefer to serve it cold, but it can also be warmed and can top a grilled chicken breast. ~Patrick Budniewski, Executive Chef

MCCONNELL GOLF NEWS JIM HERMAN WINS THIRD TITLE AT WYNDHAM; MOVES FROM 192ND TO 54TH IN FEDEXCUP POINTS

Herman had two birdies and an eagle — from 59 feet — on his first five holes to catch up to Kim. Then, trailing Horschel by a stroke, Herman stuck his approach to No. 17 to just over 3 feet for a birdie. to reach 21 under. He gained the lead when Horschel missed a 12-footer for par on 16.

Jim Herman rallied to win the Wyndham Championship on Sunday for his third PGA TOUR title and a spot in the FedExCup Playoffs, shooting a 7under 63 for a one-stroke victory over Billy Horshel. Herman overcame a four-stroke deficit in the final round at Sedgefield Country Club. He overtook Horschel with a birdie on the 71st hole. The 42-year-old Herman finished at 21-under 259. Horschel closed with a 65. He had a final chance to tie on the 72nd hole, but his 8-foot birdie putt slid left of the cup. Herman got into the FedExCup Playoffs, jumping from 192nd to 54th in the race for the 125 spots. He hoisted a trophy for the second straight season and third time since 2017. Si Woo Kim, the third-round leader, had a 70 to tie for third at 18 under with Kevin Kisner (64), Webb Simpson (65) and Doc Redman (68).

It was quite a week for Herman, who had three birdies over his final four holes Friday simply to make the cut. He followed that up with a careerlow 61 on Saturday to get into striking distance before taking the victory. Horschel looked as if he was the one to rally as he moved from three behind Kim to the lead with a birdie-eagle- birdie run on the front nine while Kim struggled with a double bogey and a bogey over his first eight holes. Kim was a birdie machine with 21 birdies and a hole in one the first three rounds. But he stumbled out of the gate and a pair of bad drives cost him his first win since THE PLAYERS Championship in 2017. He drove right into a hazzard of thick grass and, despite six people searching, could not find his shot. Kim made double bogey to fall from the top. Two holes later, Kim would up near a cart path bridge for a bogey to fall four shots off the lead.

FOOTPRINTS ON THE GREEN PROGRAM As the host for many charities and donors to numerous others, McConnell Golf is excited to contribute and engage through our community engagement program Footprints on the Green. Through a strong and supportive effort made by our collective membership and staff, we strive to become a driving force in the local community where our clubs reside. Aware of the challenges our society and environment face daily, we have aligned ourselves with a variety of organizations and various methods of giving back. This program is designed with all age groups in mind so that it will be a learning tool for our youth, a team building activity for our staff, and a friendship building platform to strengthen our connection with our membership. Recently, the Country Club of Asheville raised over $2,800 for United Way School Supply Drive. Providence Country Club is also taking part in supporting our local schools with a supply drive sponsored by Classroom Central. Way to go team and thank you to all who contributed!
