MANAGER'S MESSAGE
ProvidenceMembers,
Happy NewYear to all of our Providence Country Club members and staff I hope your holidays were happy, healthy, and full of memories made for years to come. I’d like to thank Rolf Eckert for his time spent at Providence and wish him well with his new venture His efforts to make Providence a desired club to join andbelongtoinCharlottewillnotbeoverlooked Thankyou,Rolf, foryourdedicationtotheclub
2025 will mark the start of a new era at the Club and one I’m extremely excited to be a part of. For nearly nine years now, I’ve been fortunate to help create a consistent golf operation at the club and have seen the transformation of the membership during this time There is no doubt we have so much to build upon for all of our members, and we know the team in place can create an environment all of you will enjoy on a daily basis. It is a priority of our team to ensure Providence is a club you all can be proud to call home. At one time, your club was full of excitement and enthusiasm and a place many of you gathered in the evenings to meetwithfellowmembers We’regoingtoembarkonajourneytogetProvidencebacktothisplace, aclub whereyoufeelyoucanresidefromsunuptosundown.
January and February can be slower months around the club for outdoor activities such as tennis and golf During the colder months, I kindly ask you to visit Table 16 or Preston’s and enjoy Chef Jason Daniels’ culinary creations. We’re extremely fortunate to have a chef with Jason’s pedigree and passion around food here at Providence It is priority number one for us to help Chef show off his talents, allowing all of our members to enjoy dinner at their home club We’ll be working together to bring back or enhance some of your favorite offerings many of you markedonyourcalendarasaweeklyormonthlyoccurrence
There is no doubt a slight learning curve transitioning from Director of Golf to General Manager may persist, but my door will always be open, and I’ll most certainly need your feedback and support as we work to make Providence the best it has ever been Please feel free to reach out withanythingwecandotomakeyourexperienceattheClubliveuptoyourexpectations.

Chipping and pitching this time of year can be miserable. Dormant turf, wet conditions, or lies that make you want to quit at the turn are all too common in the winter months Many players grab one club every time they are near the putting surface. During this time of year, it’s a great opportunity to use multiple clubs around the green Take multiple options with you before deciding how to hit your current short-game shot. I do suggest always taking your favorite wedge but also including an 8 or 9 iron, maybe a hybrid, or even a fairway metal Many of us will hit better shots getting the ball on the ground and rolling as soon as possible Oftentimes hitting the “hero” shot, flop shot, or higher degree of difficulty shot will result in a higher score. Do your best this time of year to get the ball closer to the hole by any means necessary Stop by the golf shop to hear ways to chip/pitch using something other than a 60*, 56*, or high-lofted wedge. We’re happy to help you reduce your scores this winter!
Some big-ticket items were crossed off the list over the past two months, and we can now hit the reset button and prepare for the new year We were able to apply our big pre-emergence/post-emergence herbicide spray back in November/December. This set us up for a clean golf course through the fall, winter, and into spring. We were also able to finally tidy up the course and get all the leaves cleaned up. Having these things behindushasallowedustoconcentrateonotherthingstogetreadyforthe2025growingseason
Wintertime presents a good opportunity to do some tree work that we may not have time to complete during the rush of the growing season. Trees that we are dead, present a hazard, or trees that compromise turf health are things we look for during the growing season, so we know whattoaddressduringthewintermonthswhenthereistime
We have corrected some soil issues and implemented different fertilization practices over the past few years and have seen improvements as a result I am excited to implement a different pesticide program for 2025 After dealing with recurring diseases, I will be utilizing new fungicide chemistries and timing for more thorough protection to help keep the major soils diseases suppressed We will also be adjusting our Plant Growth Regulator (PGRs) program on greens and fairways to see if we can enhance playing surfaces by using different chemical methods Our greens fertility program for 2025 is very comprehensive and should produce great results as well. As always, we will continue to follow a simplistic,no-nonsenseapproachtomaximizeplanthealththroughthegrowingseasonandyear-round.
We will have our spring pre-emergence herbicide/fertilizer bulk spread application take place near the end of January We have used this timing for the past three years and it has been very successful at keeping us clean and weed-free. We go this early for two reasons. One reason is so we can get it done and over with. However, the main reason is so that the material is there, in the ground, for whenever the plants are ready to start waking up This may happen with a warm spell in February, or an early spring green-up Regardless, we will be ready for whatever the weather throwsatusfromaweed-preventionstandpoint

“From a young age, I fell in love with the sweet, buttery, chewy texture of Coconut Macaroons The simplicity of the recipe combined with the complexity of the flavor, including the toasted coconut, makes this a small bite for anyone to enjoy I find it best in the winter months, sitting by a fire, enjoyingahotcupofcocoa, snuggledupinablanket HappyNewYear!”
INGREDIENTS:
14ouncessweetenedcondensedmilk
14ouncesshreddedcoconut
3tablespoonsofall-purposeflour
1teaspoonalmondextract
DIRECTIONS
oop out cookies and bake at 325 for en brown Once cooled, drizzle the t l tth hocolateset, thenserve
Whisk together the flour, oat flour, baking soda, and salt and set aside Cream together the melted butter and sugars until it turns into a paste-like consistency (mix on mediumhigh speed with the paddle attachment for 3-5 minutes) Mix in the vanilla and eggs until smooth. Scrape down the bowl and mix again. Mix in the dry ingredients. Once combined, fold in the chocolate Use a large cookie scoop and scoop the cookie dough side by side on a small tray lined with wax paper. You should have 15-16 cookies. Dot the tops with a few more chocolate chips and place in the fridge for at least 2 hours Once chilled, bake at 375°F on a large baking sheet lined with parchment paper (do not use a Silpat) Bake 5-6 cookies at a time for 10-12 minutes They should be lightly golden around the edges and puffed/doughy in the center Right when you take them out of the oven, quickly push in the sides of the cookies using the inside curve of a fork (see picture in post) They’ll spread quite a bit, so pushing in the sides to form perfectly round cookies gives you wrinkly and crispy edges Sprinkle the tops with a little flaky sea salt and transfer to a cooling rack Allow them to cool for about 15 minutes, then dig in! Yields 15-16 cookies
NOTES: Oat flour is preferred, but almond flour can also be used. Add an additional tablespoon of the all-purpose gluten-free flour when using almond flour

I have been at PCC for ten years It is a little ironic I clean at PCC, because my hobby in life is I really likecleanliness.Ahugethinginmy life that will soon be taking place is that I will soon be an American citizen. My favorite meal is Lomo Saltado with a glass of Pisco Sour, and to top it off, a slice of Tres Leches Cake I was asked who I would like to have dinner with; I would really like to dine with DonaldTrump
EMPLOYEEOFTHEMONTH NOVEMBER2024
I have been at PCC for 6 months In my time off, I enjoy playing video games, fishing, reading, and cooking. Although I enjoy cooking, I do like to go out My favorite dish would be scallops and for my sweet tooth a bowl of warm bread pudding Something that you may be surprised to know about me, I was an extra in the movie “We are Marshall.” It’s kindofcool, right?
