COOKIE OF THE MONTH Snickerdoodle

Recipe by Bruce McIntosh

Thank you to Bruce McIntosh, Executive Chef at the Country Club of Asheville, for sharing his Snickerdoodle recipe with us! This is what he had to say. "This cookie was one of our family’s favorites. Grandma would always serve them after dinner, crispy on the outside with cinnamon, sugar and a warm fluffy center. "

Ingredients

1/4 Cup Shortening

1/4 Cup Salted Butter, softened

3/4 Cup Granulated Sugar

1 Egg

1/2 TSP Pure Vanilla Extract

Directions

Preheat oven to 375°F

1 1/3 Cups All-Purpose Flour, sifted

1/4 TSP Cinnamon

1 TSP Cream of Tartar

1/2 TSP Baking Soda

1/8 TSP Sea Salt

In a small bowl, mix together 2 tablespoons sugar and 1½ teaspoon cinnamon Set aside

Sift flour into a medium bowl. Add cinnamon, cream of tartar, baking soda, salt and stir to combine. Set aside.

Cream together butter, shortening and sugar in the bowl of a standing mixer fitted with the paddle attachment (or with a hand mixer). Add egg and vanilla and beat again until smooth. Add dry ingredients and stir until combined.

Use a 2 tablespoon cookie scoop to measure dough, then roll into balls

Roll each dough ball in the cinnamon sugar mixture until it’s evenly coated

Place cookies on a baking sheet, either ungreased or lined with parchment paper

Bake in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes until puffed and mostly set, but still soft

Remove from oven and transfer to a wire cooling rack to cool

Cinnamon Sugar Coating

2 TBSP Granulated Sugar

1½ TSP Cinnamon

NotesFromthePro

We can finally begin to play from some of the newly sodded areas We have marked some of the areas on the back nine as "Ground Under Repair" Any of those areas marked by white lines, must be played as mandatory Ground Under Repair You must take relief at the nearest point that gets you out of the GUR From the edge of the bunker to the white line designates GUR around the bunkers That means the bunker is still in play. In any of the newly sodded areas that are not marked, if your ball comes to rest in a seam of the sod, you may take relief under no penalty. As always, please keep up with the group in front of yours, repair your ball marks, fill in your divots with sand and rake the bunkers after playing your shot out of one

PNCCTeeTimeReservationSystem

Etiquette

Tee time etiquette is just as important as golf course etiquette and there is more to managing your tee time than just booking that time With our course being so busy, it is important that the member making the tee time reservation take ownership of that time Here are a few things that can be done to make sure your tee time is well managed:

Book tee times when you plan to actually use them, not as an option to play

Only use names of members that are actually planning to play It is understandable that names may change between when the reservation is made and when actual play takes place However, correct names should be designated for all tee times no later than 48 hours prior to scheduled play If you don't know who will play, do you need the tee time?

Manage the time! If players change or drop off, make those changes accordingly. If you have only 3 players, make sure there are only 3 names on your time. This will allow other members to possibly find a game.

Make sure all of your players are aware of the correct time. On day of play, all players must check into the pro shop at least 10 minutes prior to start of play.

Cancellation of tee time reservations should be made as soon as it is known the time is not needed

WeekendTeeTimes

On Saturday and Sundays only, excluding event days, we will reserve 3 times each morning for 9-hole play only Members will need to contact the Pro Shop to book these times

Pro Shop will begin combining twosomes on the weekends in order to maximize our space If times are within 30 minutes, we will move twosomes automatically If we need to move a group outside the 30 minutes, we will contact you

Guidelines&Procedures

All players must have a starting time reserved through the PNCC Pro Shop or the PNCC online reservation system

Members may reserve tee times up to 7 days in advance for Tuesday – Friday and on Wednesday prior for Saturday and Sunday primarily via the online tee time reservation system It is also possible to reserve tee times by phone or in person at the Pro Shop

Failure to check in and register with the Pro Shop at least 10 minutes prior to a reserved starting time may face cancellation or set back.

Players who fail to cancel their reserved starting time at least 1 hour prior to the reserved time may be charged a "no show" fee in an amount to be determined by the Club.

If you experience problems with the On-Line Tee Time Reservation System, please record as much information as possible about the problems you experienced and forward them to the PNCC Head Golf Professional
