MANAGER'S MESSAGE

DearMembers,

We are so glad that summer is here, and we have opened the pool for the season and the swim team has already ended their season I would like to thank all volunteers and staff who made every swim meet and practice a great success We were happy to host such prestigious Clubs as Carmel CC, Myers Park CC, and Charlotte CC All four clubs had excellent swimmers on their teams; in the end, a few points decided the win. Thanks to our coaches and Chair people for all their support throughout the swim team season andforensuringthatourswimmerscontinuallyimprovedandexcelledinalltheirraces

The live music events at the West Pavilion have resumed and despite the rain, we had a great turnout for the first one this year We will continue having Friday Night Live once a month during the summer months On those nights we offer Child Care in the Playhouse Make plans to drop the children off, come out and enjoy the festivities at the Pool Complex. We will have food and beverage specials for you to roundouttheevening Wewouldlovetoseeyouthere!

Our Agronomy team worked tirelessly through an entire week of rain and got the aerification done promptly despite all the weather delays The course is healing nicely, and we should have very fast greensagainshortly

Activities, Golf and Tennis Camps have started up and the rain proved to make it very challenging for all campers and staff. But we saw many fun activitiesandsmilesduringthefirstfewweeksofsummercampsthankstothegreateffortsofourstaff

Our magnificent Food, Friends, and Fireworks 4th of July celebration will be held as per PCC tradition on July 3rd This year we will have a band called MisBehaving which will have you up dancing and tapping your feet Our activities this year will include a Ninja Warrior Obstacle Course which you will have to fill out a waiver and must be wearing tennis shoes to be able to participate. You can click on the waiver link on the reservationpageorbyclickingtheQRcodeontheflyer.Children,wewillhaveacraftsection,bouncehouse,anda26'rockwallforyoutoenjoy. Our famous Fireworks will go off weather permitting at dusk To complete your day, the delicious buffet will include something delicious for everybody Thiseventisall-inclusive,signuponlinetohelpusbepreparedforallwhocomeouttojoininonthefun

Please always check our weekly email blast, the many flyers around the club, and the online calendar for all upcoming golf, tennis, fitness, and social events For those who travel over the summer, we wish you safe travels and for all of our members to make long-lasting memories and evenmakenewfriendships.

Play good golf balls, it truly makes a difference. We’ve been fortunate to have Titleist come out to Providence several times this year and do ball fittings for a bunch of our members The learning experience for members and staff alike has been incredible. It’s amazing how much a proper ball can benefit all players. Spin characteristics, feel, launch and landing angle are major factors that can greatly benefit your game or severely hurt if you aren’t playing a ball designed for you Providence is setting records with club sales for McConnell Golf, you all are spending thousands of dollars on new equipment and we THANK YOU…But we’re still seeing many play balls that truly won’t help your game Snell, Kirkland, PRACTICE J are all balls that may be inexpensive, but if you are spending thousands on a new set why not spend $40 - $60 dollars on a dozenballsthatwillactuallyhelpyourgame?!?!Stopintheshopandthe staffwillbemorethanhappytohelpgetyouplayingthepropergolfball

Golf Course Update

The first six months of the year have been very abnormal as far as the weather goes Unfortunately, this means that we have also had a very abnormal year, agronomically speaking After our big warm up in February, temperatures and plant processes really subsided and we were waiting for what seemed like forever for the growth that we needed to make the course “pop”. Overnight low temperatures remained in the 40s and 50s for a while, and up to the middle of June we only had two days with a high temperature of 90 degrees or above This kind of weather trendwasnotidealforgrowingbermudagrass, nomatterwhatinputsandresourceswewereusingtohelpthecause Themajorityofwhatwedo revolvesaroundtheweather.Weareconstantlyworkingaroundit,tryingtobeatit,orchangingplansbecauseifit.Sometimestheweatherworks toouradvantage, andsometimesitdoesnot ThisyearhasbeengenuineproofthatMotherNatureisincontrol

Weekly divot filling and regular fertility, along with some added topdressing sand applicationsandsprayapplicationswillkeeptheteeingreatshapemovingforward.

With the increased rounds of golf since the infamous March of 2020, we are starting to see effects of increased wear and tear on the golf course. Although we will utilize rope and stakes, increased fertility, and sod where needed, a simple way we can all help the cause is to avoid using the same traffic patterns as we go about traveling the course on a daily basis Please scatter your golf cart travel and push cart travel by avoiding the use of the same travel paths as everyone else (path of least resistance). Once it arrives, the new golf cart fleet with GPS will be a huge asset with controllingtraffic

KEYLIMECOOKIERECIPE

RONGORDILS,EXECUTIVECHEFATSEDGEFIELDCOUNTRYCLUB

The first pie I ever made was a key lime pie. I remember following the recipe on the back of the key lime juice bottle I think I ate more of the meringue than what actually ended up on the pie Ever since that moment I’ve had a love for that sweet and tart flavor Please enjoy this little sample of that deliciouscombination.
