MANAGER'S MESSAGE
DearProvidenceCountryClubMembers,
Looking into the future, and reflecting on last year, we have some exciting news for you. Last year, we made a significant investment in new and upgraded golf carts, a bag drop gazebo, new fencing, and LED lighting for the tennis courts as well as improved landscaping on the golf course and Club grounds
This year I am thrilled to share that we are purchasing new pool loungers Overall, the pool bathrooms will get some special attention as well and the epoxy floors will be repaired. On January 19th, we met with our pool management company’s General Manager to plan the 2024 season. We are also collaborating with them and our amazing housekeeping team to provide excellent bathroom service throughouttheseason
At the tennis facility, we will paint the light and fence poles on courts 1-4 this year to match the improvementsoncourts5-12fromlastyear.
As the West Pavilion got a new paint scheme in 2023, we will continue to keep up with it as well as the Turnhousewhichhasseenanewandmoremoderncolorschemelastyear.
We love seeing you all enjoying the Club, its amenities and services and assure you that we are here to provideyou, yourfamilies, andfriends, withthebestpossibleserviceallthetime.
Thankyouverymuchforyourcontinuedsupport.
Sincerely,
RolfEckert

Golf Tip.....
Technology with golf clubs continues to be more and more impressive each season The biggest change over the last 8=10 years without a doubt is the technology in the driver and metals Even if your driver is more than 4-5 years old, it’s considered you are using“oldtechnology”andcouldbeatacompetitivedisadvantageagainstyourfellow competitors We strongly urge you to grab a member of the Golf staff and hop on the TrackMan Let us help you find more mileage off the tee, help you find more fairways withlessdispersion, andputaproperlyfitdriverinyourhands.Wehavefittinggearonsite from Titleist, TaylorMade, Callaway, Mizuno, and PING. There is no doubt we can help the majority of you find a club or clubs at the top end of the bag that will help improve your game Even if you feel you are dialed in with your current clubs, let us check your numbers to ensure things haven’t changed…Knowing your spin/launch angles/ball speed/SMASH FACTOR/etc will no doubt make you more knowledgeable amongstyourgolfingbuddies, butmayalsohelpyouunderstandyourgreatshotsfrom yourpoorshots Properlyfitclubsarevitalinimprovingyourgame!Comeseeus,we’re gladtohelp.

Golf Course Update
We often wonder why we do what we do, outdoors, in the elements, battling Mother Nature, especially during the cold spells wrestling greens covers Then Spring arrives and we are reminded of the pride and joy we take into molding and improving the golf course conditions throughout the growing season. The plants are waking up and the trees are budding. Color slowly makes its way back into the natural landscape. One of our goalsthisyearmuchlikelastyear, istocontinuetoenhancethelandscapingaroundtheclubandthegolfcourse.
Back in February, we completed our bulk spread application This application included our wall-to-wall spring fertility, along with our preemergence herbicide for summer annual weeds such as goosegrass and crabgrass. Studies have shown that earlier is better for this application because although it may seem early, the product is just sitting there until soil temps warm up enough for the microbial breakdown of the controlled release fertilizer to start happening Also, after being watered in, the herbicide has formed its barrier against weed germination in the eventofaquickorslowsoiltemperaturerise
As the growing season starts and plant processes begin, we also implement the agronomic plans which we have been developing during the offseason These plans are similar year-to-year, but never the same as the variables that we deal with from year to year are never the same Small adjustments to where resources are allocated can go a long way Our greens fertility program started back in February with a few important soil spray applications These applications make sure that there are nutrients readily available for the plant to take up once the plants wake up During the winter, the plants use and survive off of the nutrients/carbohydrates which are stored in the fall. Going forward, we will be applying foliar fertility, plant growth regulators (PGRs), and plant protectants on a weekly basis. We have switched wetting agent chemistries for this year with the goal being downward water movement and firmer surfaces We have also filled a few “gaps” in our disease prevention program Most importantly, letthecountdowntoaerificationbegin

INGREDIENTS:

1teaspooncidervinegarorwhitevinegar 1largeegg
2 cups King Arthur Gluten-Free Measure forMeasureFlour
11/3cupsbutterscotchchips
1/3 cup granulated sugar, mixed with 1 to 11/4teaspoonssalt,fortopping*
DIRECTIONS:
Preheat the oven to 375°F Lightly grease (or line with parchment) two baking sheets Place the pecans in a single layer in a pan, and bake until they've darkened a bit and smell toasty, about 8 to 9 minutes Set them aside to cool, then chop coarsely In a large bowl, combine the sugars, butter, shortening, salt, baking soda, vanilla, flavor, and vinegar, beating until smooth and creamy. Beat in the egg, again, beating until smooth. Scrape the bottom and sides of the bowl with a spatula to make sure everything is thoroughly combined. Mix in the flour, then the chips and toasted nuts If you're going to refrigerate the dough, cover the bowl, and refrigerate for about 4 to 5 hours; or overnight Cookie dough refrigerated for 3 1/2 to 4 hours will spread moderately; chilled overnight, it will spread much less Mix the 1/3 cup sugar and salt for the coating, and put it in a bowl. Use a spoon (or a tablespoon cookie scoop) to scoop 1 1/2" balls of dough into the sugar/salt mixture, rolling to coat.
