GeneralManager'sMessage

The end of year brings no greater joy than the opportunity to express how grateful we are for your support and loyalty Although we started 2022 still dealing with the pandemic, this year has been a rejuvenation for the club and community

We once again had record growth in membership along with reaching a golf membership cap for the first time in the club’s history Member event participation also grew especially for family activities and this year was our fullest calendar to date I want to recognize the entire PNCC team for creating and orchestrating all of our wonderful activities We look forward to offering more fun, new events in the New Year

FootprintsOntheGreen

I want to thank you all for your generosity over the year. In times of need, PNCC community continues to step up to the call. This year was no exception with over $100,000 raised by members for charities, plus significant donations of gifts for Christmas Shop of Wilmington, Toys for Tots, and Pajama Jams. Throughout the year we hosted Pink Ribbon, Make-aWish, Ebeneezer Golf Event, Olivia Strong Golf Marathon, 5k run for Paws4People, Paws Place Fundraiser and blood drives throughout the year for Red Cross.

ClubFacilityImprovements

Every year, McConnell Golf’s focus continues to be on quality of service and facility improvements. This year was an exceptional year for us with many improvements throughout the property.

The clubhouse exterior was repainted, with new shutters installed along with landscape uplighting that was recently completed

We installed new LED lights on the tennis and pickleball courts and built a new viewing deck on court #3

The fitness center received new cardio equipment, an air purifying system, and phone access FOB system.

The pool bar continues to be revamped and we added awnings for shade for the hot summer days.

The golf course bunker project recently began and will continue into the New Year. A complete update is included in this article.

December was a busy month as we installed new chandeliers in the ballroom and 2nd floor foyer and completed the clubhouse parking lot project. We plan to complete the Sports Center parking lot in March when the staging area for the bunker project will be cleared from the main parking lot and can be refinished.

There were also many improvements behind the scenes to ensure our operations run efficiently. I would like to thank Mr. McConnell for his continued investment into Porters Neck Country Club.

NotesFromthePro

From everyone on the Golf Staff, we would like to thank you for all the support throughout the year. 2021 has been another challenging year to say the least and we are looking forward to 2022. Hope everyone had a safe and happy holiday season Please let us know if we can be of assistance at anytime All the major 2023 Club Events are on the calendar portion of the website So, when planning your year, please refer to the calendar so you can participate in as many events as possible

During the months of January and February, the Pro Shop will be regripping clubs for special prices. If your grips are worn and slick or if you would like to try a different type, stop by and check out our selection You will be amazed at how well new grips can help improve your game

TransitiontotheFrontNine

The bunker work on the front 9 will soon be completed and we will transition all play to the front. Tee times will work exactly the same as the past couple of months with the exception of weekends Demand has not been overwhelming for weekend times, so times on the weekend may be booked like normal Tee sheet will open up at 6:30am on the Wednesday prior Once we begin play on the front, there are some things that we need to be aware of when playing

Please enter and exit the bunkers at the lowest point This may not be near your ball, but this helps with minimizing deep footprints and helps keep the new sod in place This procedure should always be used when in a bunker Please DO NOT play off newly sodded areas The sod has not had a chance to grow and root to the ground Keep carts of all newly sodded areas.

UpcomingEvents

January 1st: Golf Course Open February 17th: Valentine's Day Mixer

PracticeAreaSchedule

Monday – Closed Tuesday – Sunday – 7:30am – 5:00pm

Please remember to rake the practice bunkers after you are done and repair ball marks on the practice greens. The short game tees are not meant for someone to drop a bucket of balls and hit to a green. This tears up the teeing area and really leaves a lot of ball marks on the greens that are not easily repaired Please use the driving range for that type of practice We have a one-of-a-kind short game area, let’s do our part to keep it nice

Tennis Courts Winter WeatherUpdate

When inclement winter weather occurs, please check the court condition line before you come play because our courts might be closed When an overnight freeze occurs, clay courts take several days to recover

After a freeze occurs and the temperature rises, the courts will begin to thaw and then remain too soft for play In this case, we will allow time for the courts to firm up, before reopening them for play We will remove all of the water from the courts in preparation for any forecasted freeze If you have any questions please feel free to email or call us
