What a wonderful opportunity and honor for our community to thank our service men and women for their service by setting extra seats at our Thanksgiving tables and provide special meals for those Marines & Sailors who cannot be with their loved ones on this uniquely American holiday. We are hoping we will have at least 100 of the 200 Marines & Sailors experience Thanksgiving in Porters Neck host homes Those Marines & Sailors not hosted in homes will also experience a delicious Thanksgiving dinner by Chef JP and the culinary team at Porters Neck Country Club, via a $50 donation per Service Member, on this special day

Each goodie box, which will also be given to our local Fire Station, will include a gift card and a letter from our community thanking them for their service to our country. The goodie boxes will be assembled on November 22nd by Porters Neck bakers at the home of Noreen & Bob Buss. We will need donations of 215 dozen delicious, homemade cookies delivered to their home on Monday, November 21st (728 Wild Dunes Circle)

NotesFromthePro
By: Robert Loper PNCC Head Golf ProfessionalFall is upon us and with the changing of the season brings better golfing weather October and November are 2 of the best months to be outdoors Needless to say, the golf course will be much busier than it has recently So, it’s important that members manage their tee times efficiently so that there will be ample opportunities for all members to enjoy the course Please don’t make unneeded times and cancel yourself as soon as you know you are not going to play
Please remember that pull carts are to be no closer than 30 feet or 10 yards from the green
When we are cart path only, please keep all 4 tires on the path at all times Please no carts in the pine straw areas, those places may be wet also, and we see many ruts from carts leaving those areas
Please remember to always rake the bunkers after you have played out of them This goes for the bunkers at the practice area also
We are looking forward to the better weather and hope to see you out enjoying the course this month

The shootout began on hole #6 with 13 teams and we whittled it down to 2 teams by the time we got to #9. Listed below are the shootout teams. PNCC Senior Team Wins Longest CGA Interclub MatchonRecord
On the eve of hurricane Ian making landfall on Pawleys island, with the gathering storm approaching, with thirty mile an hour winds, misty rain, and in waning daylight, the Porters Neck Senior interclub team beat the Reserve Club on Pawleys Island on the fifth sudden death playoff hole.
Sudden death heroics by Gary Howze, Jerry Horton, and Jan Gustafson proved too much for a very strong Reserve Club as Howze delivered the coup de grace with a birdie, in the darkness, on the final hole The 45 1/2 44 1/2 victory moves the PNCC team to the fourth round vs Rock Hill CC in Rock Hill South Carolina In addition to moving on in the playoffs, we are again the last McConnell team left in the competition, giving us bragging rights for the second year in a row
The CGA Interclub league consists of 138 teams from North and South Carolina.
Course Operation During BunkerRenovation
Bunker renovation is scheduled to begin November 1st Once it does, we will follow these operational guidelines:
Tee times will be set aside in 2 hour blocks, then the tee sheet will be closed for the next 2 hours in order for players to “make the turn”. The morning block of times will be from 8am 10am, then from 12pm – 2pm
We would like to ask that when making your times to please indicate on your reservation if you are playing 9 holes or 18 holes This will allow the Pro Shop to book another member for the time that the original group would “make the turn” for the second 9
Our plan is to have 2 different hole locations with different color flags. One color would be for the first 9 and the other color would be for the second 9
