With 2019 exiting as fast as a downhill putt on the 5th green, your Raleigh Country Club Golf Staff is eager and excited to continue our club tradition of offering challenging events for 2020. Even though our course will be under renovation, we will be utilizing our practice facility for numerous fitting days and events, family and individual skills challenges, clinics and camps for all players, and even turning our practice area into a fun-filled 9-hole short game course. For Members traveling to our sister properties next year, please let us know how we can assist in helping you solidify your travel plans. Be on the lookout for information forthcoming regarding one-day and multi-day matches at other McConnell Golf Properties as well as a comprehensive list of reciprocal courses available for play next year. In 2020, the Golf Shop at Raleigh Country Club will be open and stocked with the latest apparel from Peter Millar, Stitch, Donald Ross, and Foot Joy. Our equipment vendors of Titleist, Taylor Made, Ping, Callaway, Cleveland and Cobra will supply us with their newest clubs models, golf bags, gloves and balls for the season. NEW WORLD HANDICAP SYSTEM EFFECTIVE JANUARY 6, 2020 In conjunction with the R&A and the USGA, a new handicap system will be in effect starting on January 6th. There will be no score posting from January 1st to January 6th so please hold on to your scorecards until then if you play a round during this time. If you have a GHIN account, please update your email address in your profile. Spouses or dependents will need to have a separate email as they will have a separate daily handicap. You will now have a daily course handicap as your handicap will be revised at midnight daily. This means no more 1st and 15th of the month revisions as your daily course handicap will be your number each day you play. Going forward, you are strongly urged to post the day you play. Your handicap index will be the best 8 scores of 20 posted instead of the best 10. There is no more equitable stroke control (ESC) as “net double bogey” now becomes the max score regardless of skill level. Section 3-5, which makes adjustments for players playing different tees, has been taken away. Your new course handicap will reflect the amount of strokes you need to play to par, not the tees’ course rating. There will be no more 9-hole handicap indexes and the new maximum handicap index is 54.0 for all players.
