TEE IT UP
With 2020 finally and thankfully coming to an end, we hope that every one of our Raleigh Country Club Members has a safe and wonderful Holiday season. We have much to be grateful for, especially with the reopening of our Donald Ross design back on November 6th. It has been exciting to see our Members back at our Club! I would personally like to thank all of our McConnell Golf Professionals for their commitment and hospitality to the Raleigh Membership while our course was under renovation. I’d like to give a special toast to Mr. Tag Wylie (Director of Golf at Treyburn Country Club), Mr. Adam McLaughlin (Director of Golf at The Country Club at Wakefield Plantation), Mr. Riley Kinlaw (Director of Golf at Brook Valley), Mr. Rocky Brooks (Director of Golf at Sedgefield Country Club), and Mr. Justin Mathers (Director of Golf at Old North State), as these McConnell Golf Professionals and their staffs took the majority of our Membership play this year once our local reciprocal agreements became obsolete due to Covid-19. Without our family within the entire McConnell Golf network, playing any golf this year could have been very demanding for our Members if not for our sister properties support. Please remember to stay diligent and cautiously safe over the next several months. If we can ever be of assistance with lessons, club fittings or corporate special orders, please let us know. Paul Dickens, Director of Golf
CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR NEW COURSE RECORD HOLDERS! On November 14th, Ms. Becca McKinney established the current Ladies Course Record from the Black Tees with a great round of 78. Her round consisted of birdies at #5 and #13 and a closing 37 on the back nine. On November 22nd, Mr. Ty Suggs recorded an even par round of 71 from the Blue Tees. With a front nine of 33 (birdies at #4, #7, and #9) and a birdie on #16, Mr. Suggs’ short game was “amazingly sharp” according to his playing partners. On November 22nd, new RCC Member Mr. Reeves Zaytoun blistered our Ross Tees with a phenomenal score of two under-par 69. With birdies on #1, #4, and #8 and a three putt bogey on #10, Mr. Zaytoun’s round is certainly a number that will hold…for a few more months. On December 6th, Mr. Jack Blankenhorn began his round with an opening bogey on the easiest Par 5 at RCC. Closing out his front 9 was a 30 foot bomb for birdie on the 9th,and to start his back 9, was another 30 foot bomb for birdie on #10. Although 3 of his 5 bogeys came on Par 5’s, he “coached” a hot putter to a final round tally of 74, which is now the mark for our White Tees. On December 12th, Mr. Mark Gauley fired a three under par 68 to record the lowest round posted from the Burgundy tees. Four birdies and an eagle on the 9th (an easy driver and a four-foot tap in) lead the 4-time Club Champion to this record setting round.

GOLF COURSE & RANGE ETIQUETTE With the reopening of Raleigh Country Club, we continue to ask that all Members please help us take the utmost care and protect our course. Taking pride in following these simple steps below will ensure the best possible conditions for the upcoming Spring. We thank you in advance for adherence to these requests.
DIVOTS
BUNKERS
Please repair your divots in the fairways, rough, and par 3 tees by filling the divots with sand that is provided on your carts. Sand bottles can also be provided for those who walk.
Please enter and exit the sand from the low side of the bunker. After hitting your shot, please remember to rake your footprints and place rakes on the outside the bunker.
BALL MARKS
RANGE TEE
Please repair your ball marks on the greens before addressing your ball. It would be really helpful if you would repair a couple of other marks while you are waiting to putt.
Due to the overseeding of our range tees, we ask that divots be taken in a linear pattern (a straight line) to enable maximum turf growth in these areas. Please place each ball at the back of your previous divot to minimize the area of disturbed turf. At no time should divots be scattered.

RALEIGH COUNTRY CLUB POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
All practice facilities will be closed every Monday. These areas include both practice putting greens, the long game area and the three short game greens. The golf course is closed to all play and foot traffic every Monday unless approved by the professional staff. Correctly repairing ball marks will be a high priority. We will have staff available to demonstrate the proper way to repair them to ensure our newly renovated greens remain in great condition throughout the year. Jeans, tee-shirts, hoodies, and athletic workout apparel will not be allowed on the golf course or the practice facility at any time. Shirts will be tucked in and hats will be worn facing forward at all times while on the course and practice facility. We kindly ask gentlemen to remove their hats while in the clubhouse. Please have all cellular devices on silent while on the golf course and in the Clubhouse. To be proper hosts and to allow our team to properly greet you, we encourage you and your guests utilize the bag drop so we can assist you with your golf clubs, pushcart or other items that you will need assistance in removing from your vehicle. The changing of shoes or clothing in the parking lot is prohibited and must take place inside the locker rooms at all times. All golf carts will be kept out of the parking lot prior to and after the round unless returning from the 18th green to the bag drop and cart staging area. For those who don’t utilize bag storage, we ask that you leave your clubs at the bag drop at the completion of the round instead of driving to your vehicle as our staff can assist you departing the club. While using the short game area, all practice shots will be played within 20 yards or less of the closest green while not using a full swing. All play will adhere to the tee times booked for the giving day. Under no circumstances will play begin before the first official daily tee time. With the difficulty of the new course, pace of play will monitored and enforced at a maximum of 4 hours and 10 minutes. Please keep up with the group in front of you for the enjoyment of the group behind you. While music can be listened to while on the course, the volume level will be maintained for your personal space within your own golf cart and not for others around you. Players electing to use push/pull carts on the course will be required to carry a sand bottle for the refilling of divots. Players can either use a personal sand bottle or borrow one from the Club. During a round of golf, push/pull carts will not be allowed on any tee boxes and should be parked between the tee box and cart path of the hole being played. While approaching the green, push/pull carts will not be allowed near the green and should be placed no closer than 20 yards from the green in the direction of the next holed to be played. At no time should a push/pull cart travel across these areas and never between a bunker and the green.

Take the pledge to eat two servings of seafood each week, tag us @McConnellGolf using #SeafoodSustains and visit www.seafoodnutrition.org/eat-seafoodamerica/ for more details. Don't forget to wear red on February 5th in support of the American Heart Association...more details coming soon!
Take the plunge! Come out and take part in the third annual companywide McConnell Golf Save the Polar Bear Plunge benefitting the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) whose mission is to conserve nature and reduce the most pressing threats to the diversity of life on Earth. For us, this jump will be a direct link to protecting the Arctic and the polar bear population by restoring the loss of sea ice habitat. On this day, all members will be jumping into the icy waters at their home club pool at the same time across three states. Make your club the leaders in giving back by having the most participants and raising the most money. After the jump, warm up with a bowl of chili and hot chocolate! Order a pint of chili to bring home with proceeds supporting WWF and the Polar Bear mission as well!
HISTORY OF MCCONNELL GOLF'S COOKIES OF THE MONTH
OUR CHEFS APPRECIATE YOUR SUPPORT The culinary teams at McConnell Golf would like to extend a special thanks for the support you have given them over the last 12 months. In addition to purchasing meal kits and ordering takeout options, you have helped give back to the community through meal fundraisers, wine dinners and more. Our chefs continue to work hard to provide unique offerings, while also ensuring your meals are prepared safely using quality ingredients. As we enter the New Year, remember to support the food and beverage team at your local club and take advantage of to-go packages.

Several years ago, at one of our annual corporate meetings, an idea was brought to the table that we needed a Lagniappe of our own that would show our appreciation to members and their guests for dining with us. This idea quickly grew to a collaboration of our executive chefs, their staff members and other club staff submitting cookie recipes to be used in our monthly rotation. These cookies would be a bite size sweet treat for everyone who had lunch at one of our properties in the dining room. As McConnell Golf has grown we have been able to feature a club each month, in addition to recipes from our CEO John McConnell and COO Christian Anastasiadis, the Easter bunny and Santa Claus. Beyond baking and serving these delicious treats in our clubs each month, we also share the recipe in our newsletter and online blog that includes a special story or meaning behind them. Our culinary teams have embraced this idea and continue to showcase their talents with these delectable sweet treats, from our kitchens to yours.

THANK YOU AND CONGRATULATIONS! RALEIGH COUNTRY CLUB'S EMPLOYEE OF THE YEAR: AZIZA FOSTER As we go through uncertain times right now, some find it hard to maintain a positive attitude . Azzi comes in each day with not only a hard working team approach to her job, but maintains a welcoming smile to our members and paying close attention to details. She is quick to help anyone with a problem, even when it is outside the scope of her work. It is amazing and such a pleasure to have someone who has so much tenure, but maintains a positive, inspirational attitude...even through very stressful times. Thank you, Azzi, for being such a great co-worker for the McConnell Team.
