Six of our ladies competed in the Women's South Carolina Golf Association Palmetto Cup at the International Club. Clubs from all over South Carolina competed in a 2 person match play format. Our ladies took home second place! Please congratulate Kemilou Pomplun, Maureen Torncello, Kathy Hirsch, Marsha Guth, Cissy Knapp, September Thompson.

Just Hanging Out

This nice weather has not only brought out golfers but a few more friends. Many of you have noticed the wildlife has been pretty active over the past month. Moments like the pictures above are what make The Reserve special Not many courses get a flock of turkeys or mob of deer spectating as we play our round We take this for granted because we see this everyday So, next time your playing take a second to stop and enjoy our natural wildlife

Raking Bunkers

Raking bunkers are not only important for players behind you but for the overall playability of the course. Many courses took away rakes over the last few years and many have forgotten how to properly rake a bunker. No fear! We're hear to explain. Always enter and exit on the low side of a bunker – do not jump down or climb up steep faces, even if it might be a faster. Climbing steep grass faces can cause serious turf damage in an area where it is already hard to grow grass. Walking up and down sand faces can cause the sand to shift and collapse, which creates playability issues and a time-consuming repair job for the maintenance team. When actually raking push the sand away firmly and pull the loose sand towards you to smooth it out. Once you've finished please knock the sand from your shoes and place the rack back where you found it. As club we can all do our part in making the course better.

Posting Scores to GHI

Spring has sprung and tournament season has began. With that said, the Handicap Committee and the golf shop staff are checking scores posted, based on the days played, to make sure everyone is posting ALL of their scores. Unfortunately, we found that not all scores are being posted. We are here to help! There are two ways to post your scores. The first is downloading the GHIN app to your phone and second, let us know in the Golf Shop and we would be glad to post for you. If you need help downloading the app please let us know.

When To Post

A player should submit their score as soon as possible on the day of play, after completion of their round, and before midnight (local time). If a player does not submit their score on the day of play: Their Handicap Index will not be updated in time for the next day.

A score is acceptable for handicap purposes if the round has been played:

In an authorized format of play over at least the minimum number of holes required for either a 9-Hole or an 18-Hole score to be acceptable

In the company of at least one other person, who may also act as a marker

Ona golf course with a current course and slope rating, where length and normal playing difficulty is maintained at a consistent level.

Ladies Invitational

"Under the Tuscan Sun"

Thank you to all of our participants this year. Our trip to Tuscany was great and the weather was our friend. Our festivities kicked off with wine and heavy Hors devours. Guess the Pasta contest was the game of choice and Polly McCormick knows her pasta, guessing the closest. Day 1 was a Texas Scramble and believe it or not everyone was still friends after the round. Day 2 was moving day and that's exactly what Maureen Torncello and her partner Kathy Salamone did, shooting a net 63 but Kathy Dodge and Kristin Raciti held them off to finish first net in the Chardonnay Flight In the gross division Jeanne Saulsbury and partner Mandy Christian played a steady two days and finished first gross in the Chardonnay flight Carole Faulk and Polly McCormack lead wire to wire in the Merlot flight and took home first place net A tie breaker was needed to decide the gross winner in the Merlot flight and Sherry Tarnok and Marilyn Rieker were victorious. We can't wait for next year!
