GOLF EVENTS OPERATION 36 JUNIOR ACADEMY We will re-launch our Operation 36 program this year beginning on March 10th. Below is a flyer that includes our class days and match days. In our class days, we will be covering a different topic each day (putting, chipping, irons, etc.). We will be teaching different objectives which your juniors will be tested on during our "testing days" or during individual lessons. You will also see four match days at the bottom of the flyer. These will be 9hole events where your junior will try to shoot 36 or better from their current tee rank (25 yards, 50 yards, 100 yards, etc.). Each junior will progress through Operation 36 at their own pace. This also includes access to an app which will allow your junior to log in their practice sessions and rounds of golf. This is super important for your junior to do as it helps us coaches see how much they have been practicing and what they have been working on throughout the year. It is also an easy way to see your junior’s progress throughout the year.
If you are interested in signing your junior up for our academy or would like more information on the program (price, availability, etc.), please contact Dalton Rich at drich@treyburncc.com or Adam Stephenson at astephenson@treyburncc.com.

What many people don’t know is that your fitness performance and what you eat are connected. Your diet can have a huge effect on your exercise. Professional athletes have dietitians who develop their menus during the season – every day is planned down to the last detail. Even though we mere mortals don’t have this option, if you follow our five effective nutrition tips, you’ll see how what you eat can help make you stronger. 1. Try not to skip meals. One of the worst mistakes you can make on the journey to achieving your fitness goals is to eat too little or even skip meals entirely. It’s the wrong approach for long term weight management and/or weight loss. Like a car, your body needs fuel to run. One approach to ensuring you have the energy you need and not encountering spikes or drops in blood sugar levels is to spread out your meals throughout the day and include nutrient-rich foods such as whole grains, healthy fats and oils, and lean protein. 2. Top off your tank before working out. Before you work out hard and lift weights, you should top off your energy stores. Without this, you cannot give your workout everything you’ve got and improve your performance. Low blood sugar can cause you to fatigue faster and experience lightheadedness. A high-carb snack (like a banana or an apple before your workout) is perfect for replenishing your glycogen stores (fuel for muscles that is stored in your body). 3. Maintain an adequate supply of electrolytes during exercise. If you work out longer than an hour at high intensity, you should also consume isotonic drinks (i.e. a drink that contains similar concentrations of salt and sugar as in the body). Isotonic drinks are digested quickly, and can provide rapid fuel for your body. Ideally, electrolyte drinks contain 60 to 80 g of carbohydrates and 400 to 1000 mg of sodium per liter. They may also contain other minerals like calcium, magnesium and potassium. In this way, they can help you quickly replace the electrolytes lost due to sweating. 4. Opt for protein post-workout. Protein is critical for repairing and building muscle after a workout. Protein-rich foods include eggs, tuna, lean meat, soy, dairy, nuts, grains, and beans. Incorporating these foods into your post-workout meals can have a positive effect on your muscle growth. You should also focus on distributing your protein intake evenly throughout the day for maximum muscle stimulus. 5. Drink plenty of fluids. Make sure to drink enough not only during your workout, but throughout the entire day. In the case of dehydration, your muscle cells can no longer be provided with an adequate supply of oxygen and nutrients, which can be disastrous for athletes. But how much fluid does our body actually need? The basic rule of thumb is: 35 ml x kg body weight = ml fluid per day.

COOKIES OF THE MONTH March Cookie of the Month: “Crunchy Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies” James R. Patterson III – Porters Neck Country Club 8oz.Unsalted Butter, at room temperature 2/3 Cup Light Brown Sugar 1/2 TSP Vanilla Extract 1/2 TSP Baking Powder 1 ½ TSP Kosher Salt 2/3 Cup Mini Chocolate Chips 6 Ounces of Corn Flakes 3 TBSP Granulated Sugar 9 TBSP Unsalted Butter, melted
1 ¼ Cups Granulated Sugar 1 Egg 1 ½ Cups All Purpose Flour 1/2 TSP Baking Soda 3 Cups Cornflake Crunch (below) 1 ¼ Cups Mini Marshmallows 1/2 Cup of Milk Powder 1 TSP Kosher Salt
Using a Paddle on your Stand Mixer, combine the butter and sugars in the bowl and cream together on medium-high for 2 to 3 minutes. Scrape down the sides of the bowl, add the egg and vanilla, and beat for an additional 7 to 8 minutes. Reduce the mixer speed to low and add the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Mix just until the dough comes together, no longer than 1 minute. (Do not walk away from the machine during this step, or you will risk over-mixing the dough.) Scrape down the sides of the bowl with a spatula. Still on low speed, paddle in the cornflake crunch and mini chocolate chips just until they’re incorporated, no more than 30 to 45 seconds. Paddle in the mini marshmallows just until incorporated. Scoop and roll 1 ½ oz. dough balls and place onto a parchment-lined sheet pan. Pat the tops of the cookie dough domes flat. Wrap the sheet pan tightly in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or up to 1 week. Do not bake your cookies from room temperature—they will not hold their shape. Heat the oven to 350°F. Arrange the chilled dough a minimum of 3 inches apart on parchment lined sheet pans. Bake for 14 minutes. The cookies will puff, crackle, and spread. At the 12-minute mark, the cookies should be browned on the edges and just beginning to brown toward the center. If they still seem pale and doughy on the surface, leave them in the oven for an additional minute or so. Cool the cookies completely on the sheet pans before transferring to a plate or to an airtight container for storage. At room temperature, the cookies will keep fresh for 5 days; in the freezer, they will keep for 1 month. Heat the oven to 275°F. Pour the cornflakes in a medium bowl and crush them with your hands to one-quarter of their original size. Add the milk powder, sugar, and salt and toss to mix. Add the butter and toss to coat. As you toss, the butter will act as glue, binding the dry ingredients to the cereal and creating small clusters. Spread the clusters on a parchment-or-Silpat-lined sheet pan and bake for 20 minutes, at which point they should look toasted, smell buttery, and crunch gently when cooled slightly and chewed. Cool the cornflake crunch completely before storing or using in a recipe. Stored in an airtight container at room temperature, the crunch will keep fresh for 1 week; in the fridge or freezer it will keep for 1 month.
