MEMBERSHIP Dear Members, I hope this message finds you safe and healthy during this challenging time. I want to sincerely thank our supportive membership for staying with us while our company and country is in this medical and economic crisis. I have had many positive conversations of your appreciation and we look forward to getting through this pandemic with you. Thank you for your loyalty as it allows us to keep paying our employees and operating as best as we can. Even though the Clubhouse and Fitness Center has been closed recently, we have been fortunate to still offer golf and to-go orders. We now have an even greater appreciation for the sport as there is little to do to get out of the house! I would also like to sincerely thank our amazing staff who are fighting in the trenches at the club every day. Tag, Dalton, and Adam are working hard serving our members at Treyburn and other McConnell Golf clubs. Superintendent Mark Snell has the golf course and overall grounds of the property in fantastic shape. Chef Sean and his culinary team continue to be creative with their to-go orders and our F&B staff are safely providing curbside pick up service. Activities & Fitness Director Elena Cortright is keeping the membership engaged by performing in work out videos you can do at home found on our new McConnell Golf Fitness Page on Facebook. We are taking every precaution possible so you can still safely enjoy your membership during this challenging time but we look forward to getting through this together. Thank you for your commitment to the club and please do not hesitate to reach out if there is anything I can do to assist. Best regards, Matt McConnell

FITNESS
Tips for Staying Physically Active During Self- Quarantine As new COVID-19 cases continue to emerge in the WHO European Region, many healthy individuals are being requested to stay at home in selfquarantine. In some countries, fitness center and other locations where individuals are normally active, will remain temporarily closed. Staying at home for prolonged periods of time can pose a significant challenge for remaining physically active. WHO recommends 150 minutes of moderate-intensity or 75 minutes of vigorous-intensity physical activity per week, or a combination of both. These recommendations can still be achieved even at home, with no special equipment and with limited space. The following are some tips on how to stay active and reduce sedentary behaviour while at home in self-quarantine: Take short active breaks during the day. Short bouts of physical activity add up to the weekly recommendations. You may use the suggested exercises below as inspiration to be active every day. Dancing, playing with children, and performing domestic chores such as cleaning and gardening are other means to stay active at home. Follow an online exercise class. Take advantage of the wealth of online exercise classes. Many of these are free and can be found on YouTube. If you have no experience performing these exercises, be cautious and aware of your own limitations. Walk. Even in small spaces, walking around or walking on the spot, can help you remain active. If you have a call, stand or walk around your home while you speak, instead of sitting down. If you decide to go outside to walk or exercise, be sure to maintain at least a 1-meter distance from other people. Stand up. Reduce your sedentary time by standing up whenever possible. Ideally, aim to interrupt sitting and reclining time every 30 minutes. Consider setting up a standing desk by using a high table or stacking a pile of books or other materials, to continue working while standing. During sedentary leisure time prioritize cognitively stimulating activities, such as reading, board games, and puzzles. Relax. Meditation and deep breaths can help you remain calm. A few examples of relaxation techniques are available below for inspiration.
For optimal health, it is also important to remember to eat healthily and stay hydrated. WHO recommends drinking water instead of sugar-sweetened beverages. Limit or avoid alcoholic beverages for adults and strictly avoid these in young people, and pregnant and breastfeeding women, or for other health reasons. Ensure plenty of fruits and vegetables, and limit the intake of salt, sugar and fat. Prefer whole grains rather than refined foods. For more guidance on how to eat healthily, please see the WHO fact sheet on healthy diet.

KIDS
FORKY AND KNIFEY FAMILY Trash? That single line says so much. For the fans who saw “Toy Story 4,” you too can create Forky and his whole family at home! Use average supplies to make this fun filled family and have a blast afterwards with all of the characters! How hard can it be to recreate these unforgettable characters? In the movie, a 3-year-old can do it! Take it a step beyond exact replicas with more expressions, various colors and kooky characters for a whole family of these fork and spoon creatures. Here’s how to get started: Supplies: Plastic sporks, forks, spoons or knives Play-Doh Craft sticks Google eyes Glue Markers Pipe cleaners Yarn scraps Paper Direction: Start by gluing the google eyes to the spork. Using a tiny bit of red PlayDoh, rolling into a thin line for the eyebrows and press on above the eyes. Repeat with blue Play-Doh for the mouth. Forky can smile, look surprised, confused (Trash?”) or mad. Use the marker to add a bit of blush to his cheeks. Stick the little dots of Play-doh on his middle for buttons. Break the craft sticks into the right size for the feet, about 3 inches. Attach the spork (spoon, fork or knife) to the sticks with a glob of Play-Doh. Twist on a pipe cleaner and form hands.
For Knifey, add a dress cut from a piece of paper, a short length of pipe cleaner for a necklace. It could be fun to give her a dress a bit of sparkle and glam with beads and stickers. Use scraps of yarn for her hair and cut out a small bow colored and taped to her head. Add flirty eyelashes with a black marker. Isn’t she lovely? Keep the fun going with more creatures and accessories. Think outside the box and give Knifey a cyclops brother with a crazy head of blue hair. Afterwards, create different scenarios and bring their personalities to life!

GOLF Golfers, Oddly enough, it has been an exciting month on the golf course here at Treyburn. It has been encouraging to see how many members have come out and utilized some time on the course as their escape from these challenging times. Our junior golf activity has also been on the rise. The new Operation 36 Junior Academy has continued on an individual lesson basis. We are seeing juniors practicing at home, coming out to play with their parents and working hard to move up the ranks in our program! We continue to provide a safe environment for all members by taking the necessary precautions of reducing/eliminating touch points on and off the golf course as well sanitizing golf carts twice after use. We thank you for understanding the importance of social distancing while at our facility and other McConnell Golf Properties. It is vital that we all do our part so that golf can continue to be an option for us. Looking ahead to our May and June golf calendar, there is quite a bit on our slate. Our first tournament in May was to be our One Day Men’s MemberGuest. This tournament will be POSTPONED until later in the year. At this time, we are not ready to make decisions on the cancelation or postponement of any of our other tournaments. As stated above, this is subject to change. Upcoming Events

STRONGER TOGETHER
SAVE THE DATE!
Working in hospitality means our employees love to serve and connect with people. In these times, our staff misses these interactions dearly. The support we've received from the membership however, has been overwhelming. We just wanted to say, "Thank you." Thank you for every round of golf. Every to-go order. Every email, comment, like and share. We could not do what we love to do without you, and if anything, these trying times underscore the value of community. We are so very proud to serve you, and to have built a network of clubs with your support that sustains us all in good times and bad.
The Wyndham Championship, held at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, NC, is postponed to August 10-16, 2020.

June Cookie of the Month: “New York Cheesecake Cookies” Sean O’Neill – Treyburn Country Club Ingredients: 1 ¼ Cups Finely Crushed Graham Crackers 1 Cup All-Purpose Flour 1 ½ TSP Baking Powder 1 stick Unsalted Butter, softened ½ Cup Packed Brown Sugar
1 Egg Separated 3 OZ. Cream Cheese, softened ¼ Cup Granulated Sugar 2 TSP Lemon Zest ½ TSP Vanilla Extract
Directions: Preheat oven to 350 degrees F, or 325 degrees F low fan convection oven in a large bowl, stir together the graham cracker crumbs, flour and baking powder. In a medium bowl, beat together the butter with the brown sugar. Add the egg white and beat until well combined. Add to the graham cracker crumb mixture and blend until just combined. In a separate bowl, beat together the softened cream cheese, with the granulated sugar, egg yolk, lemon zest and vanilla until well combined. Set aside. Using a small scoop, scoop out the cookie dough and place on a nonstick or parchment lined baking sheet. Flatten slightly, pressing your thumb in the center of the ball to create a small bowl shape, repeat with remaining dough. Spoon the cream cheese into the indents of the cookies. Bake until the filling is barely set and the cookies are lightly golden, about 12 minutes. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before removing them to completely cool on a wire rack.
