SANTA SCRAMBLE DECEMBER 6

I am sure that most of you have noticed some of the more recent improvements around the clubhouse. Recently, new cobblestone curbing was placed around the beds at the front of the clubhouse as well as a gate being installed at the upper service entrance to help hide the dumpsters and improve the ease of access for the delivery trucks. We also had some concrete poured outside the golf shop to help improve the unsightliness of the trampled pinestraw in that area. All of this, combined with the landscaping plants that were installed in December, has led to what will be a much more aesthetically improved impression of the clubhouse and grounds

With Wilson Country Club hosting McConnell Golf’s Annual Symposium, our efforts the last few weeks of January were focused on pinestrawing and mulching around the clubhouse grounds as well as getting the previously mentioned projects completed at the same time Everything got bottlenecked into all getting done at the same time because of the two weeks that we had that were extremely cold When we could not

work outside, the crew worked on getting the course fixtures refinished including refurbishing the water cooler stands on 3 and 16. Those look much better than I ever expected them to look!

In the next few weeks, we will be working on replacing some sections of the cart path where roots have impacted the paths. I am sure the most notable will be #9, but other issues that are less severe right now will also be addressed. As we wrap that up, we will be starting to spray pre and post emergent herbicides to set the growing season on pace for the year We will also be working on sodding some areas throughout the course to include areas where we cut trees and ground stumps, some areas where cart paths were repaired, and quite a few unsightly areas that we need to address

I look forward to seeing you all out on the course!

Warm regards,

Spring is right around the corner, and we are excited for some warm weather for us to get back on the courts again This is an exciting time for racquet sports at the club, with plenty of events for all our members. New tournaments, clinics, leagues and events over the next few months have been planned are we eager to see the courts in full swing Our first event kicks off with our Spring into Tennis & Pickleball Event in mid-March. We will have an open play for tennis and

pickleball during this time, with a junior clinic available prior to the event. All levels welcome regardless of whether you are an experienced player or want to give one of the racquets sports a try

Our spring events are headlined by our Dining on the Courts event, a unique dining experience with exhibition tennis & pickleball matches while you dine. We will be laying new material on the clay courts in the coming months. Looking ahead we have a great summer program being offered with summer tennis & pickleball camps in June, July, and August Our camp registration is open for the summer, reserve your spot before we fill up by signing up now
