Enjoying the beautiful weather
Dear members,
I hope this message finds you well-excited for the spring season. We have a lot going on at your club, from golf operations to new tennis programming and, of course, ongoing capital improvement projects. First on the capital improvements list is finishing the downstairs of the clubhouse renovation. Besides enhancing Grover’s, the downstairs will include a dedicated Kids Activities room for future programming We plan to have this project completed before our annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, March 23
Next on the list is to have our NEW fitness center open in early April. The fitness center will be conveniently located by the pool and feature the latest and most advanced exercise equipment. There will also be key fob access, allowing entry after hours for your convenience and flexibility. Additionally, we will also be hiring personal trainers to help you meet your fitness goals!
Close by at the Tennis Center, our new Director of Tennis, Hartland Jones, has been working hard to resurface the clay courts and install new lines! The clay courts have been completed with new nets and scorecards. The hard courts will also be resurfaced and converted into six NEW pickleball courts and one tennis court! Be on the lookout for future updates on the pickleball project, including our grand opening party of the new tennis center in May.
With all of this excitement, we are sad to announce that General Manager Isaac Davis has resigned. Isaac has been an integral part of Wilson Country Club and McConnell Golf. He wore many hats and worked very hard to get the clubhouse renovated. I will never forget coming in one morning in August to find him at the pool wearing a tie while skimming the water for debris and fighting with the gnats The bottom line is that he was tough and will be difficult to replace However, we have a lot of great candidates, including employees within the company, who can come in and make an immediate impact
It may take some more time, but we look forward to making Wilson Country Club the premier private club in eastern North Carolina. If there is anything we can assist with, please do not hesitate to reach out.
Thank you,
Matt McConnell, Membership DirectorDear members,
We want to say thank you to Mr. Isaac Davis for his leadership and his mentorship during his tenure as WCC General Manager We wish him a long healthy retirement

MEMBERS NOTE
It is imperative for the improvement of your golf course that you repair your ball mark and one more on every green. Even during times of greens maintenance, ball marks must be repaired to ensure quicker recovery of the putting surfaces We are moving toward playing the ball as it lies in the bunkers, so it is also imperative that you get back into the habit of raking the bunkers after playing from them
WCC Men’s 64th Member Guest is being held October 17th19th. You may begin signing up for this ever-popular event on Friday, August 30th beginning at 8:00 a.m. in the WCC Golf Shop. I am sure that most of you have noticed that my team has done a great deal of sodding around the clubhouse A good portion of this has been completed where the trees were removed around the putting green, near the rear of the pool, and to the right of 18 green They have also sodded the stump holes from the trees that were removed on 12 as well as the two that died on 9 and 10 Other than those areas, they have sodded some of the weak areas around the greens, some of the drain lines on fairways 7 and 2, and some other areas at the front entrance All toll they have cut, picked up, and re-laid over an acre of sod from the driving range fairway That is no small feat! Hats off to them for putting forth all the effort to make the course that much better!
Soon, we will be spraying pre-emergent and post-emergent herbicides to set the stage for weed control for the year This is the most critical of the applications that we make during any given year.
We will also be moving a number of the plants in the hedgerow to 58 (along 14 and 15 tee). Some will be going to the clubhouse entrance and along the concrete walkway to the golf shop. Others will be lining the right side of fifteen tee box. All the bushes that will be moved will be replaced with larger ball and burlap plants that will be fast-growing and create a screen between the highway and the commercial businesses across the street.
I hope you all are well, and I look forward to seeing you on the course as it warms up!

KITCHEN’S CORNER - MARCH
March is upon us, and that means spring is right around the corner. We are gearing up for a busy spring and summer, and we have many events and amenities to choose from, with many upgrades that are still in the works for these spaces. We are also working on a master calendar for the year so members can see all the major events and happenings at a glance. We will still send out reminders and any changes through our weekly what’s happening messages as well.
Also, the new dining menu will coincide with Grover’s re-opening, and it is tentatively scheduled for the week of March 12th. We hope you will enjoy the new and different offerings, and we will, of course, keep things fresh with specials throughout the week. We will be revising operational hours as well. Be on the lookout, as that information will be sent out with all the details. We look forward to serving you soon!
Best regards,
