CLUB UPDATES

Dear members,

I'm thrilled to write this article as I wrap up my first week at Wilson Country Club Allow me to express my sincere gratitude for the warm welcome and smiles extended to me. It's truly heartening. I look forward to getting to know each one of you better as we embark on this new journey together.

Speaking of new and exciting things - Grover's Grill has officially opened its doors and is thriving, offering delectable lunch options from Tuesday through Sunday Additionally, our Kids Activities room stands ready, awaiting the joyous laughter and play of our youngest members. We're excited to start planning fun activities for them in the near future!

Our new fitness center is nearing completion! The grand unveiling is scheduled for Thursday, May 23, and we're thrilled to showcase not only our fitness amenities but also our brand-new pickleball courts We extend a warm invitation to all of you to join us for an evening filled with pickleball, music, delectable food, and, most importantly, camaraderie!

As we eagerly anticipate the arrival of pool season, rest assured that we're gearing up for a summer brimming with excitement and fun-filled activities tailored just for you.

See you around the clubhouse, Maya Panayotova, General Manager

Thank all of you for your continued support of Wilson Country Club We have a very busy May and June ahead of us The greens are recovering nicely, and we look forward to great course conditions for our May and June events Please be on the lookout for email notifications and signage at the club concerning course closings and events.

MEMBERS NOTE

It is important as golfers that we not only enjoy our golf course, but we also work to preserve it from unneeded practices that can be detrimental to the health of the course. Some of these practices include driving carts too close to greens, parking carts on grass areas next to greens and tees, driving up to tee boxes, and jumping curbs. These activities can have a detrimental effect on many areas of the course when they occur on a regular basis. Cart exit posts are placed 20 to 30 yards from each green, so each golf cart can exit the hole at the cart path before the curbing starts Roped-off areas can often be a distraction and unsightly While we try to keep this to a minimum, it is necessary to help save the turf in certain areas Individuals that require handicap flags can also assist by driving around worn or wet areas and avoiding the cart between bunkers and greens

Circumstances may arise that are beyond our control as it relates to golf course conditions. However, what is in our control is the choice to respect our cart policies and course etiquette, which can help protect our course and ensure that Wilson Country Club remains in top shape throughout the year In order to achieve our goal, everyone must make an effort to drive their cart responsibly at all times. Please be mindful of areas that are experiencing cart traffic where carts should not go, i e , left of #8 green, left and behind #9 green, left of #14 green. Please discontinue driving your carts in those areas We are striving to give you the best product we can, but we need your help

CLUB FITTINGS AND PRICING

Please remember that we MATCH all retail golf store pricing on golf clubs We are able to fit you with most major manufacturers’ clubs We are very capable of fitting all clubs We have a launch monitor, and after having fit clubs for the last 30 years, I have learned how important it is to be able to see ball flight in the fitting process Please allow us to help you with any golf club needs you may have In addition, we will have demo/fitting days for several companies. Lookout for email and flyers throughout the club

THE WILSON WIRE PAGE 5 TEE IT UP
-Reid Hill, PGA, Golf Professional

My staff has been working hard between wrapping up all of the transplanting of the bushes from highway 58 to the clubhouse and along 15 tee and the planting of all of the large B&B trees to screen 58 from the course Once we finished all of the plantings, we still had the job of mulching and fixing some of the inevitable damage that would occur from the execution of the project All of this work is largely done now, along with the drip irrigation that was installed to help keep the plants watered While there will most likely be a few trees that struggle and may not make it, I believe we have given them all the best chance at survival that we can We pretty much went straight from finishing that project up to the aerification and verticutting of the greens

The crew also re-planted the bed to the right of 18 green and replaced the knockout roses in the pool They have also been working on completing all of the pinestraw and mulch work around the clubhouse

Outside of those things, we have had quite a bit of wind lately, so cleaning up the course has been a constant task. Limb cleanup, pinecone blowing, and mulching have been at the forefront of that. It truly has been a relentless task lately.

I cannot say how proud I am of the crew I have in place now. To accomplish all of the tasks we have lately and have everyone keep a good attitude is truly rare! Please give them a word of thanks as you see them around the course.

I hope to see you all on the course soon!

Kind Regards,

MAY COOKIE OF THE MONTH

LEMON COOKIE

When I first moved to Knoxville in September of 2016, I was introduced to the “best cookies ever,” as some members explained to me. They were from Ham & Goody’s Bakery in Knoxville. I have found this recipe to be a close substitute for when you can’t make it to the Bakery. But, for me, these cookies just scream “Spring in Knoxville ”

JUNE COOKIE OF THE MONTH

CHOCOLATE PEANUT BUTTER AND OAT NO-BAKE COOKIES (GF)

This is a simple, yet delicious cookie. This is one of my favorite cookies growing up as a kid. My aunt would make these for me every year at Christmas time and it never seemed like Christmas until I got my cookies. It is still a cherished memory to me to this day Ah, the simple pleasures of life
