McGaw Graphics - Wildlife Collection 2021

Page 1

Wildlife 2021 While we’ve seen many changes over the past two years, Wildlife continues to be one of McGaw Graphics’ most popular image categories. The 2021 Wildlife Collection is our most extensive wildlife offering to date including over 200 images by 38 artists. This collection opens with over 100 brand new unreleased images shown alongside best sellers and newer gems added earlier this year, conveniently sorted by animal. As always, we have included a diverse array of animals and art media ranging from traditional to contemporary with emphasis on popular North American wildlife. In this collection we introduce new wildlife painters Clinton Jammer, Rita Kirkman and Molly Sims, along with new photographer Ju Riker. We also welcome new wildlife artists Beth Hoselton, Hilary Mayes, and Jimmy Dyer who we launched earlier this year. In addition to these new artists, we’ve added new works by artists Adam Smith, Benedicte Gele, Chad Poppleton, John Mullane, John Seerey-Lester, Karla Mann, David Graham, Matthew Hillier, Patty Voje, Richard Clifton, and photographers Art Wolfe and Barry Hart. We hope that you enjoy exploring this new collection! - Your friends at McGaw Graphics

*NEW Wildlife Artists 2021 Clinton Jammer Clinton Jammer is a self-taught nature artist whose wildlife and landscape paintings are recognized internationally for their ultra high level of realistic detail. He moved to Muskoka in November 2018 where he opened his own art gallery in his home in Port Carling and paints from his home studio. Jammer began drawing in pen and ink when he was just a young boy, etching what was most certainly the beginnings of future paintings into the pages of his school notebooks. But it wasn’t until his late 20’s that he began to approach painting seriously. He’s been an avid supporter of nature and wildlife conservation throughout his 30-year art career. Over the years, he has helped raise tens of thousands of dollars for various organizations and causes through donated paintings and sponsored print sales. Jammer’s wildlife and landscape paintings have been displayed internationally at many prestigious exhibitions, including the Society of Animal Artists Annual Exhibition, the David Shepherd Wildlife Artist of the Year Exhibition, the Southeastern Wildlife Exposition, the Artists for Conservation Annual Art Festival, and the McMichael Autumn Art Show. Today, Clinton Jammer’s work is available exclusively at Heart of Nature Gallery in Port Carling, which opened June 1, 2019.

Rita Kirkman Rita Kirkman’s paintings of animals have an unmistakable presence and a connection with the viewer. With a background in portraiture, she captures the spirit of each as an individual soul. Her process of underpainting the light forms a sense of place and depth that stimulates the imagination. The situations and expressions of her animals spark a human recognition within us. Kirkman (PSA, CPS, IAPS-EP) was born an artist and has been using pastel since she was 11 years old. Since 2003, she has consistently won major awards in national and international competitions. Her work has been featured in the Pastel Journal and the Pratique des Arts Spécial Pastel, and published in many others. She is a Signature member of the Pastel Society of America and an Eminent Pastelist with the International Association of Pastel Societies. Kirkman’s work is in public and private collections all over the world, including the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Europe, Japan, Africa and Australia.

Ju Riker Ju Riker is a multidisciplinary visual artist based in Germany. Besides shooting for a major hospitality chain full-time, he enjoys taking his camera to the great outdoors. When he rediscovered the beauty of his rural birth town, he started to incorporate his musings into the frame rather than the whole scenery itself. That might explain why his photos have often been described as emotive and dreamlike. After all, his soft and minimalistic style aims to induce a meditative space for the heart. Ju’s work has been featured worldwide from exhibitions in Germany, Australia, and Singapore to band merchandise and staff-picks on art websites. He holds a Master of Arts in Media Studies and a Bachelor of Science in Geography.

Molly Sims From the time Molly Sims could hold a pencil, she loved to draw. Growing up in the Northwest, she spent a lot of time camping, fishing, hiking, and playing outside. All the time that she spent outdoors gave her a deep love and appreciation for the natural world and wildlife. Inspired by the beauty of the natural world, Sims primarily paints wildlife and birds. She finds that the light is what defines a subject and makes it interesting. Through her art she strives to help the viewer connect with nature and see how beautiful and precious it is. Sims has always loved animals and wants to be a voice for wildlife. Since there is such a variety of animals and birds out there, she will never run out of subject matter. Sims’ style is classical realism so that her subjects feel lifelike, and the viewer can connect with an animal’s spirit to see the beauty and innocence that she sees. Her images typically have a single focus and looser backgrounds, a painting style that works well with what she wants to accomplish. Sims is a member of Oil Painters of America (OPA), National Oil and Acrylic Painters of America (NOAPS), International Guild of Realism (IGOR), and Women Artists of the West (WAOW). She has participated in many of their national salon shows. Molly has sold her artwork to many private collectors nationwide.

Did you know?

The bald eagle has been the national symbol of the United States since 1782. It had been on the brink of extinction due to hunting and pollution, but has made a comeback following protective laws created in 1940. While a bald eagle’s white head may make it look bald, the name actually comes from an old English word, “balde,” meaning white. 3.

Gray wolves are known as keystone predators because they help maintain a balanced ecosystem. Their diet consists of ungulates (large hoofed mammals) such as elk, deer, moose, and caribou, as well as smaller mammals like beavers and rabbits. Because gray wolves eliminate only weak animals, herds become stronger and healthier as a whole. 3.

According to a ship log dated January 9, 1493, Christopher Columbus said that on the previous day he “distinctly saw three mermaids, which rose well out of the sea; but they are not so beautiful as they are said to be, for their faces had some masculine traits.” Columbus wasn’t the only sailor to spot mermaids in the water. The reason they weren’t as beautiful as he might have imagined is because they were actually manatees. 3.

Most squirrel species don’t hibernate and rely on caches of food to get through the winter. To prevent a large cache of food from being stolen, squirrels will store food in hundreds to thousands of different locations. They are even known to dig fake holes to fool onlookers. Thanks to a detailed spatial memory and a strong sense of smell, they recover up to 80% of their cache. 7.

Wholesale customers will receive the same discount for all products, sizes, and substrates, noting that some products have maximum allowed discounts. Custom sizing may be available upon request.

Substrates

Most images are available on all 3 substrates (poster paper, giclée paper, and canvas). See mcgawgraphics.com to view available substrates for specific images.

Poster Paper McGaw’s standard poster paper is a high quality 230 gsm smooth matte poster paper. Prints on poster paper include a 1” border around the image and are shipped rolled in a tube. This paper stock is perfect for both paintings and photographs.

Giclée Paper McGaw’s premium fine art paper is an acid free, archival textured 245 gsm giclée paper, printed with 100 year archival light-fast inks. Giclée paper prints include a 2” border around the image and are shipped rolled in a tube. This paper is similar to a traditional artist’s watercolor paper and produces a very vibrant print.

Unstretched Canvas McGaw’s premium artist canvas is a 20 mil (400gsm) bright white cotton/ poly blend with a satin finish and a 2-over 1 weave which is highly durable, waterproof, and scratch resistant. Canvas is printed with water resistant solvent inks that are vibrant with dense blacks and bright whites. Canvas prints include a 2” border around the image and are shipped rolled in a tube. Specifically designed for the home decor market, this superior canvas delivers exceptional print quality and ease of stretching.
