With bright green chairs and balloons to match, this happy little corner café is about as positive as its owners. Arriving with the birds six days a week, café owners George Dannaoui and Geoff Moody are committed to their customers and their business. Taking care to only serve beautifully prepared food with the freshest of seasonal ingredients, Dannaoui and Moody deserve the loyal following they have built over the past decade. Sitting amongst St Leonards’ corporate hub, there is a steady stream of early coffee orders and quick and efficient lunchtime service. Local residents descend on a Saturday for all day breakfast – including stacks of delectable Nutella and mascarpone pancakes served with pure Canadian maple syrup.

“There are no used by dates on our food, we start from scratch each and every day and if we have done our job right, our cupboards are bare at the end of the busy day,” said Dannaoui. With a sister café, ‘The Kiosk’, on the other side of the highway, and ‘Villiers Street Canteen’ in Parramatta, the boys certainly know the winning formula for success. But as simple as Dannaoui makes it sound, there is plenty of hard work and passion that goes into these busy establishments. “Teamwork is important and we try to find staff that are equally as passionate about their customers and food as we are,” said Dannaoui.
