Born in Perth, Australia in 1981, Kyle Hughes-Odgers grew up obsessed with drawing and painting. With no formal training, Kyle started making art on the street and has been working full time as an artist for the past six years. With his first exhibition almost a decade ago, Kyle has exhibited and created largescale public art extensively throughout Australia as well as internationally in Los Angeles, New York, Singapore and Europe. His work is in numerous private and public art collections including Murdoch University, Royal Perth Hospital and DMG architects.

In 2010 Kyle completed a 45 metre seven panel public art commission for Murdoch University in Western Australia and held a successful solo exhibition at Turner Galleries. In 2012 Kyle held his first international solo exhibition in Berlin at Okazi gallery and went on to complete a 50 metre public art commission on the State Library of Western Australia. Kyle illustrated his first children’s book ’Ten Tiny Things’ written by Meg McKinlay in 2012, and in 2013 it won the SCBWI Crystal Kite Award for Australia/New Zealand. Later the same year Kyle was asked to create a large feature artwork for the new Jamie Oliver restaurant in Perth’s CBD. Each of Kyle’s figurative artworks are based around a narrative, using skinny limbed, thick torso characters and the use of intricate geometrical patterns which draw from his abstracted street art background. Kyle recently went big in Perth with a massive four storey new work next to the Mitchell Freeway (above) and is currently completing a 6 x 80 metre public art commission at the Perth international T2 airport. kylehughesodgers.com | instagram @kylehughesodgers
