As one of the first and most prolific collectors and traders of industrial furniture, Guy Mathews’ style has become synonymous with vintage industrial. Guy has been collecting and trading in Australian, European and American vintage industrial furniture for more than 20 years. He believes strongly in the use and functional qualities of the industrial product, and curates the best of these examples teamed with stunning large-scale art works, vintage posters and objects to maximum effect.

Retail clients as well as architects, interior designers, restaurateurs and bar owners seek Guy’s vision and unique eye. His industrial magic has revamped retail spaces including Harrolds and The Ugg Store as well as several cafés and bars in Sydney and Melbourne. Over the past few years Guy has been working on his art practice. His chosen medium is Bricolage, and the preferred materials for the works are often found, printed or hand painted advertising signage. Each piece is a unique original work. It has started gaining enormous popularity in people’s homes as well as site-specific installations. This month Guy says good bye to his Fitzroy store as he moves into an enormous space which once operated as a knitting factory.
